Just to let you all know that I am suddenly experiencing computer issues. I think it is just a faulty AC adapter, and I will have a new one on Monday. In the meantime, my battery has only 5% power, and the computer is very slow. The power seems to be maintaining the same level as long as it is plugged in, and I hope that continues!
I have created and scheduled posts for every day this week, so if I’m not around much, you can count on a place to gab. Even if my computer is down, I still have my phone and Kindle, but neither is much good for blog maintenance.
If it turns out that the new AC adapter doesn’t fix things, I will call Dell (I do have an on-site maintenance contract). That means they come to my house to fix it.

Best of luck, Stella!

I can empathize. 🙂

The cat has chewed on the cable. There is one wire in the Dell jack that completes a logic circuit between the adapter and mainboard. If it doesn’t make contact (or there’s a break in that circuit somewhere, but the main power circuit is OK), the system will run but the battery won’t charge.

I also just ordered some coiled cable cover. Inexpensive way to prevent future damage.

FWIW, I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use with my Kindle Fire 8, and it allows me to get on the blog and write. It’s definitely not as easy as using a computer, but it might help. The keyboard came from Meijer, so nowhere special.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered one from Amazon. I’m not shopping for real right now.

I just got my bluetooth keyboard (Arteck brand) and have it connected to my Kindle Fire HD8. It works great! I couldn’t be happier. Next I’ll try to connect it to my phone. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Good luck Stella, I hope it as easy a fix as the power cord. Miss all of you, life is just full at the moment. My friend in hospice did pass away on my birthday 😦 .

Sorry to hear that you lost a friend, lovely.
My daughter’s husband lost a friend suddenly to a heart attack at age 51. Because he lived alone and worked from home, his death wasn’t discovered immediately, which is even more sad for his family and friends. The memorial service is tomorrow.
