    Maybe it isn’t true. It’s testimony from a Kuwait-born businessman, apparently without corroborating evidence thus far. But if Ilhan Omar really were an agent of Qatar and passing information to Iran, would she be acting any differently from how she behaves now?

      What’s interesting to me is how much tiny little Qatar ends up in the news as crawling thru the international underbrush.

      Qatar is a major US Centcom base and sits on top of a massive natural gas supply. Still, instead of just filling swimming pools up with $100 bills and wallowing in their cash they seem to be heavily involved in all sorts of intrigue. Or is this all new agitprop designed to undermine our relationship with Qatar?

        If the impeachment sham actually gets to the Senate, perhaps the information floodgates will be opened by President Trump and clean water will flood into the swamp, pushing the old gunk right out onto Capitol Street for all to see.

      Good morning, Nyet! Eggs and bacon, please! I’m not much hungry today…caught a virus of some type…

      …just in time for Turkey Day. One of my nieces was supposed to visit this week, but had to cancel…just as well since who wants to celebrate Thanksgiving with a cold/whatever and give it to family?

      I’ll just dream of being here for the holiday…

    Question: following the first Frozen movie, there were complaints of cultural appropriation. for Frozen 2, Disney, uh ‘tactfully’ signed a contract with this ethnic group in Norway to use their culture.

    So, is cultural appropriation exactly what it sounds like?

    And if it is, is it an appropriate response to, when some minority whines about it, to shoot back that if they wanna bring that up they’d better stop using electricity and get used to walking everywhere? (after all, white people invented electricity and cars, so that’s Caucasian culture, so…)

        Then again, anymore I hear too much whining about how media doesn’t have enough characters of color, so what’re you going to do? 😒

          Well that depends if you are asking about reality or delusion.

          And the color of the skin of the culture that is being portrayed.

          Reality; There is no such thing as cultural appropriation.

          Delusion: Only the white culture cannot be appropriated because white people are bad.

          Also any white person who uses any element of a minority culture is appropriating a minority culture and is a jerk.

          I listen to Miles Davis. I am a cultural appropriate(r) in accordance with the “Laws of Liberalism”.

        In the early 70s we had to keep track of and then compile lists of all the ethnic minorities used in a feature film and all television series shot on our movie lot. Jokingly I said we should put Lucie Arnaz on the list because her father was born in Cuba. The powers-that-be took me seriously and told me to do so.

        Technically, I was right, although Desi looked like a Spaniard, not a racial mixture like a good percentage of Cubans do. I bet we could have gotten away with putting Antonio Banderas on the list, too, in those days, his being from Spain. LOL! Interesting though Spain is as European as France, Spain pretty much gets a pass for their conquering great swaths of the world because they are people of olive complexion and not pasty white like ethnic English.

        It’s all so stupid!

          In the 70’s businesses had to report which of their employees were other than white Americans and if they were female. We had two employees who were American Indian and female, and I remember we joked that they were “two-fers”. I always thought that this practice was terribly racist, since we couldn’t ask someone their race when they were hired.
