      This is getting more common, persons being removed from life support by physicians and courts. It’s starting to look to me like the ramp-up for single-payer health insurance, we’re hearing about how it will provide healthcare for everyone but in a more subdued second track we’re hearing about ‘finite health resources’.

      Sorta ties in with Czarina and my schtick that we’re old enough to have seen the latest, greatest and most scientifically up-to-date medical information on any one subject change a number of times. Just last week I was reading a report about how New York researchers have discovered that stents and bypass surgery provide no more relief in some heart issues than noninvasive techniques such as diet and lifestyle changes. Takeaway is that it frees up resources, makes the treatment less expensive and (from my perspective) puts the patient’s lack of medical progress on the patient’s back. ‘You may die but it ain’t our fault, you didn’t exercise or eat enough healthy food.’

      The dehumanization of children goes on, a lotta folks don’t feel bad if 80-year-old granny gets medically offed, afterall, she had a good life and is eating up valuable resources needed to resolve issues like the the 20-year-old who got a massive infection from a botched ear piercing of the (one of my favs) the thousands and thousands of dollars we coughed out to treat a woman who got her butt plumped by some hack using some caulking sealant in a living room operation. We have the sacrament of abortion enshrined, time to start upping the age for offing.

    Well service is coming out to install a couple of stainless steel valves on our well (PVC ones tend to seize in cold weather) and asnew pump relay – a chameleon got into the\ relay housing and burned off a chunk of his tail and now it sticks. Not a problem most of you have.

    The well service makers a 50 mile one-way trip here, but he services at least a 50 mile radius from his home, it’s a 2-man business. He gets up early to make his services, we were just a regular call as he’s been dealing with folks without water due to a bad well so it’s been about 10 days since I called him – hetriages his patients.

    I got a call last night – yeah, night really – saying he’d be here 7 AM to 7:30 AM today….he starts early. I thought I’d be smart and set my alarm for 6:30,give me enough time to get the dogs set up and have a cuppa coffee. Apparently our flu-stricken GGS who’s recuperating with us has his alarm for school set at 6 AM so it’s been a real great morning so far. Oh yeah…he went back to sleep.

    It’s coming up on Thanksgiving, which means it’s time for the usual whining and moaning (at least on my Facebook feed) about how the first Thanksgiving celebrates the massacre of Indian Tribes.

    Because, you know, Indians NEVER massacred each other before the white man came. The Indians used to love in peace with nature and the American continent didn’t have any sin until the white man. 🙄

    With that said, can anyone recommend any books or original sources that actually tell the truth about Indians and their interactions with the first settlers?

      I found a very good discussion of this topic on Quora the other day. Someone had asked a question about whether Indians lived peacefully before the white man arrived and some very knowledgeable people provided information about the Indian customs, wars, migrations due to the wars, and slavery of captives.

      There were some chilling stories involved.

      Well, if I remember my Anthropology of White Destruction of Indigenous Peoples 101 there is no objectively truthful book about the Native Americans by white writers. As the first whites ashoresetabout destroying those Native American universities and their troves of written and archived cultural and scientific knowledge everything from there is European culturally tainted justification for the Native American holocaust.

      You might want to Google search for books on the Navajo and their contentious relationship with the Apaches. On that track you can also dig into the Southwest Indian (Indian as in ‘woo woo’ and not ‘would you like extra curry?’) and the Mexicans in times before and after the US annexed the then-Mexican Southwest. Indians had a less than warm relationship with the Mexicans who’d regularly raid them.

      Might want to look into the Pueblo cliff dwellers too. Back in the old PC days the thought was that they built high in the cliffs as they did due to predations by other tribes but now I understand the ‘objective’ research is looking at more PC explanations (flooding didn’t quite cut it).

      The plains indians had inter-tribal tiffs going on to and Googling for books on the individual tribes, wading through the usual guesstimates of daily cultural practices, might give you an idea of their inter-tribal relations. Expect newer tomes to minimize any potentially negative materials though, latter anthropologists have been steeped in the brew of post-PC research and are deeply into a more subjective way of righting.

      You might find your local library can borrow any books not available locally but don’t be surprised if they can’t find them, some are being removed from shelves and replaced by newer and ‘more in line with current thinking’ books. You may be able to find them on sites that speciakize in old books like AbeBooks, Alibris, Powell’s or even on the Amazon overseas sites.

          Usually it’s not worth messing with these people, they have this Disneyesque concept of what Indian life was like. I can remember journals from early traders and US Army reports saying you could smell their encampments 5 miles downwind but the apologists usually depict the pre-Randolph Scott Indians as a Princess Summerfall Winterspring spinoff with hair and makeup not quite perfect. I just nod and let them live in their own worlds.

    Gun maker Stag Arms has announced on November 18, 2019, it is moving all its operations from Connecticut to Wyoming. Connecticut passed stricter gun laws after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The AR-15 rifle maker had announced in June that it would be leaving Connecticut for somewhere else that is more business friendly. It plans to be relocated to Cheyenne by the end of the year. The company said in a statement on November 18th, “Not only is Wyoming an incredibly hospitable place to do business, it is also a top destination for outdoor recreation, including hunting and shooting sports, which reflects its citizens’ unwavering support for the Second Amendment.”

    Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon issued the following statement: “I am pleased to welcome Stag Arms to Wyoming and to know that our state came out on top of a broad look at potential new homes for the sought-after company. We have a deep-seated commitment to the Second Amendment that I will continue to uphold. Ultimately, Stag Arms had to make a business decision and I believe this announcement is an affirmation that Wyoming is continuing to cultivate a culture that allows private enterprise to flourish. My administration will work collaboratively with the Wyoming Business Council and Cheyenne LEADS to ensure Stag’s move goes smoothly. I thank Stag’s Board of Directors and Chad Larsen for selecting Wyoming.”

    Stag Arms is the latest in a growing list of gun manufacturer choosing to move to Wyoming for its favorable business climate and firearm-friendly culture. In 2018, firearms manufacturer Weatherby Inc. announced it was moving its manufacturing operations and corporate headquarters from California to Wyoming. Weatherby’s move to Sheridan is expected to create 70 to 90 jobs and more than $5 million in annual payroll over five years. In 2014, Colorado firearms accessory manufacturer Magpul, decided to relocate to Wyoming and Texas after Colorado state lawmakers restricted sales of ammunition magazines. It also chose Cheyenne for its new business location.

    Went and saw Frozen 2 today. SPOILER AHOY! In the interest of full disclosure, I read the spoilers first and then I went once I knew the plot would not involve Elsa turning into a lesbian and fulfilling the wishful fantasy of, what are we up to now, 5% of the population?

    Anyway, Elsa’s not a lesbian. Once again, she doesn’t have a love interest, though people will try and project because she makes friends with – wait for it!– another woman during the movie.

    But I just wanted to let you all know that there’s nothing in that particular field to worry about for this movie. If someone tells you that Elsa is gay, they need to stop projecting

    Oy, this is most interesting…I’m assuming Spencer has a secure telephone, but no call to the Commander-in-Chief to clarify the CIC desires…nope…went to the newspaper. I don’t care whether it was a proper method of communication by the President, you don’t go to the newspapers to issue a complaint and indicate that since it wasn’t official, in writing, you can ignore the suggestion and viewpoint of President Trump. Talk about insubordinate! I’d can Spencer via phone saying “paperwork to follow.”
