      RLS has been a favorite of mine forever, & this one goes so well with the sunflowers at the top. Love the 50’s dress, but don’t think it will fit in that little car!

      Ahhhhh…memories of those front-opening suicidemobiles. There was a herd of them in Europe after WWII, the German companies especially trying to get postwar production and the population moving. Most were powered by motorcycle engines as they were easier to produce than heavier vehicle engines and what capacity was available had to be directed to industrial production.

      They never really caught on here, gasoline was readily available and our postwar prosperity drew Americans to bigger and more powerful status symbol cars. By the time I hit Germany in ’62 they were more curiosity items there too, there were some and they were cheap to buy but Germany had largely recovered too and the population there was moving to bigger and more powerful cars. Still, a car with a whole front that opened, where you could get caught up in the peddles and fall on your face or butt getting in/out, where you wondered if the steering wheel would fold while you’re driving it as it did when you exited and a vehicle that gave you precious little space to store purchases was a curiosity. Gave you plenty of space to get cozy with your date though.

      Great list, lovely! Love the dress and green gloves in #9…that would have been accompanied by a crinoline half slip, garter belt and nylons–since pantyhose had not yet been invented, and a strapless longline.

      I can still remember where every one of those departments was in the big Bullock’s Downtown-Los Angeles (7 stories of delights). It was such fun to shop there for little gloves and beautiful silk-lined leather ones to wear shopping and to church in the California winter.

    To understand the ideological goals of the so-called “Squad” of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, one needs to understand the academic theories labeled colonial and postcolonial studies. Many of us “people of color” who have direct or indirect ties to other parts of the third world have seen this nonsense being peddled many times before.

    What we are witnessing, despite the veneer of watermelon politics, is not just Marxism, or Alinkyism, or socialism, or communism, or Black Pantherism, or eco-fascism. We are seeing iron-fisted colonial and postcolonial theory acting itself out on the national stage. The study of European colonialism and its aftermath, post colonialism, is a combination of all of those leftist social, economic, and environmental projects rolled into one, presented under the auspices of a systematic academic canon. It uses insider academic jargon to bemoan the aftereffects of having once been dominated, and against their will, culturally transformed by a European colonial power. Hence, the terms “colonialism” and “postcolonialism.”…

    And this by the way is why “people of color” is an absolutely ludicrous but clever phrase invented by these very types of people. It is used to balkanize and erase the real backgrounds of various African, Asian, Arab, and Native American tribal people. It suppresses their cultural vices while exaggerating their virtues. Ultimately, it dehumanizes people because it robs them of their human instincts; and usually for better, it reinvents the stories of their actual traditions. So now, Arab Somalis like Ilan Omar, who come from Muslim tribes that have historically and presently engage in practice of selling black Africans as slaves throughout parts of Africa and the Islamic Middle East, are allowed to evade this fact by taking cover under the mantle of being “people of color.”…

    Americans with a casual interest in politics have no idea of the depth of the hatred that these four women have towards the West and all of its abiding citizens. That’s too bad because mark my words, these women want war. And it’s starting to look like they will actually get their wish.

    Been thinking of immigration discussion started in yesterday’s thread, combining it with todays discussion happening next door ( https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2019/08/09/august-9th-2019-presidential-politics-trump-administration-day-932/comment-page-2/#comment-7261805 ) and Incest Ilhan tweeted something that jumped off the screen at me. A lightbulb monent.

    In the discussion linked the conversation gets to marveling how Ilhan mistakenly calls the separated child border crossers as ‘orphan’ as to be an orphan means parents are dead. Why do we think she is stupid?

    I believe she speaks an element of truth when she accuses wanting the children to be orphans because the children ARE orphans, now have “parents” and go back to being parentless when seperated at border. Why spend money to purchase children to aid in crossing when can get orphans for free?

    Back in 2016-2018 when I wore my “Trump” shirt in public only old farts like me commented on it positively. The young looked away and had hispanic run away from me in Walmart. It was apparent she was genuinely afraid of me.

    Fast forward to NOW. Young cashiers say they like my shirt and want to get a MAGA hat. Parents with children stop and want to talk about their great president. Oh, and ladies, if looking to connect with single men over sixty, go to Walmart wearing a Trump shirt. No jesting, four seperate good-looking men approached me and engaged in conversation about President Trump.

    Another difference from Then to Now is back Then it was for Trump with lots of trash talking Dems. Now it is ALL TRUMP. People are loving our president!
