Cats contemplating the meaning of Caturday…

A friend of mine lived in the Sepulveda Pass area of Los Angeles, above the 405 Freeway…
…as you can see, it’s rather wild territory.
She was a great animal lover and had a very compassionate heart. One particular kitten she found on her patio she decided to keep and not turn him in to Animal Control, even though it seemed feral and would likely be difficult to tame.
She gave a party a couple months later and we were confronted with a very large “kitten” to which my first reaction was, “Liz, that’s no everyday cat. It looks like a Bobcat. Look at those ears!”
Anyway, she kept the cat and was one of the few people he took to. He did get along fine with her huge Poodle, though. They were the greatest of pals.
Apparently the vet said it was not a Bobcat, nor a mix since that would be a tremendous rarity. I still think it was a mix.

No, that’s a real bobcat. I don’t remember seeing any photos Liz took of Lucky, but he looked quite a bit like this online guy but darker.

Well, I was just thinking that that is a real bobcat and the vet should have recognized it. 😯

Perhaps it was a Maine coon? They are large and have tufted ears. If I ever have a cat again, that’s what I want.

You know, Tundra, I hadn’t heard of Maine Coons until about ten years ago. But on recent occasions I’ve wondered if Lucky was one because he was super unusual and wild looking like some Coons are. The vet didn’t tell her that, though.

Oops, Maine. Thay took me seveal tries to post, as it kept disappearing. Also, my iPad seems to be infected with a pop up-ad for a Wal-mart gift card which won’t go away.

Hahaha! I’ve seen lots of folks who leave “toys” like this for their cats to view during the day….and, of course, TV programs geared to cats can be left on all day while the owner is at work.

But, cats, who are generally bored with our efforts, revert to chasing bottle caps on the floor, hiding in paper sacks and boxes, and looking out the window at the birds….
