      If AOC gave a Rat’s butt about kids she’d be in her home district getting photo-ops with the poor and disenfranchised chirruns there, but as a politician she knows to keep the spotlight off of her nest, don’t poop where you eat.

      She’s doing what Hillary did with Bill in their reign, everyone likes kids so you make yourself the children’s messiah. You use those kids as smoke and mirrors to not only paint yourself in a saintly hue but as a distraction from what’s going on in the background.

      Morning lovely! Such a great list! Some of my favorite things are on here… sunflowers, cherry coke (love them from sonic drive-in… I always ask for extra maraschino cherries) and cotton dresses! 😊👍🏻 The way Mr. Homan goes after AOC has got to be one of the most epic TV moments of all time! A thing of beauty. Take that, AOC!

    Local weatherguessers are having to walk back their previous Weather Armageddon predictions. They’re now saying the Corps sacrificed a goat and read its entrails to come up with a new prediction on Mississippi surge that various stations were reporting as overtopping the levees. The river is below 17 feet and the new figures show a max surge measured in inches rather than feet. The max surge will be about 17.1 feet…a far cry from the earlier 20 predicted feet. That’s around what it’s been for weeks.

    Now they’re also walking back the rain predictions too. We’re north and east of NOLA and we were predicted early on to get from 20 to 30 inches with NOLA getting 40ish from some sources. Now we’re looking at predictions of 3 to five here and about the same for NOLA – far less than the 4 feet or more some were putting out.

    Granted if we run into some training the rain figures could be higher but about 8 hours out from the first landfall the network Broadway production is starting to settle down to a more realistic local dinner theater offering.

      Prayers for you and Czarina, Czar what they are showing on the news here looks pretty wicked. But even here they are telling us to get ahead of the not having the right app crisis by downloading a bunch of crap because you never know when the next great disaster will sneak up on us wrestle us to the ground and take our lunch money. It’s the rule of Alinsky bespoke most recently by Rahm the ballerina “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

        Currently grey skies with occasional peeks of sun. Got up at 7:30, light breezes, 78*, 2/10″ rain overnight. Storm made landfall at Morgan City, over a hundred miles away, about eight thirty a.m. CST. They still predict two to five inches of rain here, maybe thirtyish mph wind later today. Nothing to complain about. I stayed home from work today because when it rains over three inches in a few hours a low spot in the road near here always floods, and I didn’t want to get stranded. Our house is much higher than the man made lake we live on, so flooding the house is not an issue.

          Happy to hear it is passing a ways away from you Czarina. Smart move staying home, flooded road blocking your path home isn’t worth the risk.

          Hot hot hot here today, I went to the farmer’s market and came home. I like to get fresh berries there but no luck today. Cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes and sunflowers 🙂 !

        The media are Alinskyites, allright.
        The app I downloaded for specifically for NOLA has been regularly spitting out little blurbs of zero importance, probably to keep subscribers on the hook, but so far the city and state figures are out resting their voices. The state lieutenant governor is back down in his home parish with his people, out pulling people way down parish out of high water and actually doing some work – not giving speeches.

        We now have a <10% chance of any winds from the storm and rains from it over next 3 days stillstand at 3-5" total though could be a bit more if one of the bands trains over us. Greatest threat we face is overexposure to local weatherguessers on TV.

    Sorry to post anything from CNN, but I thought it was hilarious about how they’re seldom right about much of anything…probably even their atomic clocks are incorrect. So it must really have cost them a deluge of distress to place a teensy bit of speculation favorable toward our President on their website…

    I can totally relate, having spent hours at a time in the Midwest woods as a teen waiting for dinner to walk by. Eventually the wait became as enjoyable as the thrill of the hunt.
    Driving down the road for hours at a time with only the drone of the engine for company? Sitting in the woods alone with eyes closed, focusing on all the other senses, the feel of the sun and breeze on my skin, the forest scents, the little sounds of insects and rattling leaves? Great memories!
    The Scottish hermit speaks of a joyful ecstasy; I experienced that once in my early 20s while hitchhiking in Iowa. It was a bleak early winter day, no snow, just dead brown fields and occasional naked trees as far as the eye could see. Bright cloudless day, but no one was picking me up as I walked for miles along the highway. Then an overwhelming sense of joy and well-being hit, and it was one of the happiest moments of my life.

    Was just outside with Tucker. It’s in the mid 80’s still, and the fireflies are amazing tonight! Light breeze, so the mosquitoes aren’t bad and, all in all, a beautiful night.
