    Thursday wen t swimmingly, arrived just minutes before the termite guy, inspection was done lightening fast and we had hours to eat and visit with our old friends at the restaurant. Great food too, not exactly as it was almost 40 years ago – but neither is his clientele. The differences are subtile and unnoticed except for long, long time users but it’s still super – and I did get some extra fat.

    So the prosecutor granted Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, Use Immunity and then Scott testified before the court that it was he and not Special Warfare Operator Chief Edward Gallagher who killed the ISIS savage?

    This means that the prosecution can not use a word that Scott said on the stand against him, this is significant because there can not be a single shred of independent evidence of Scott’s actions as he never said a word about it and there are obviously no witnesses to the deed.

    Scott testified that he told no one;

    Scott sounded relieved, Ferguson exhausted, and both didn’t want to talk on the record about what had just been unleashed, but it’s something Scott had kept inside him since May 3, 2017: Eddie Gallagher didn’t murder the seriously wounded teenage Islamic State prisoner of war hauled into the SEAL compound near Mosul. Scott did.

    I could kiss whoever set this in motion.

    I could kiss Scott. Buy that man a whiskey.

    What a way to start the day.

    Brilliant and bold.

      Sorry I misread the article Scott was granted Full Immunity, which is even more inexplicable.

      Beautiful. Not that the prosecution could possibly have any evidence against Scott but now it can’t even fabricate evidence or witnesses. This is amazing stuff. The prosecution either got hoodwinked or it wants Gallagher to walk.

          I am at a loss for even a guess. Really an inexplicable move by the prosecutor.

          Scott “I’ll testify if you give me full immunity.”

          Prosecutor “OK”

          I mean how did that mediation go? It is crazy.

          Scott could not lie to the prosecution about any material facts, or his immunity would be nullified so he could not have offered the state evidence against Gallagher. I so wish we could know how this played out.

        I heard somebody this morning say that the “stabbing” was to make an airway for the despicable ISIS fighter who needed to be dead anyway. I guess more will come out soon.

      Don’t get too hung up on this, it’s a court martial and the rules aren’t all the same as in a civilian trial.

      Even if the medic did receive immunity – what kind? Does the plea agreement prevent the military from bringing him up on charges if they develop information on his involvement not covered in his testimony? It also doesn’t prevent the DoJ from going after both SEALs on other charges, sort of how my friend was cleared by two state trials only to be brought up on Federal civil rights charges on the same incident.

      Then again the ‘jury’ has to believe the account, if it doesn’t then it can still convict regardless of what the medic says, prosecution just has to convince 2/3rds of the board that the charged is guilty. This ain’t necessarily a done deal.

      Then again, if the prosecution feels it was made to convene the trial and it feels it doesn’t want a conviction then why not just let this other guy cop to it and create a plausible ‘out’ for jurors who don’t want to say he’s guilty?

        Understood. It is still an absolutely awesome move by the defense.

        This is being tried as much in the court of public opinion as it is in the military court. If the DoJ goes after Gallagher or Scott after an acquittal it would not play well.

          What matters is what the Pentagon brass feel about it and how the various possible outcomes will effect their careers. Justice is secondary…always has been in a court martial.

              I think that they want this to go away for the good of the Special operations community, the Left doesn’t like them and the SpecOps folks are extremely efficient in dealing with the leftist and Moslem insurgents around the world.

              The Communist sympathizers during the Vietnam War had a good campaign against the Army Special Forces as they were not only kicking the crap outta the VC/NVA but were exposing NV lies about their operations in Laos and Cambodia and the Chinese, North Koreans and Russians sending troops into the North and the South that were in direct combat operations against US and Allied forces. The Army SF was the figurehead in the attack as the Air Force and Navy SF were not as well recognized.

              Active duty rank-and-file bureaucrat officers (ticket punchers) do not like SF folks all that much as they are not the regular types these ticket punchers move around the chess board, they’re seen as wildcats, not the grist that so many line officers use to build their careers. Until just a few years ago officers spending command time in an Army SF unit didn’t have that time counted as command time in their fields, it was dead time, so both military politics and political politics will figure in here.

              Whatever happens both of their careers are over. They’ll probably get some civilian book deals and employment in areas that hire former operators, they’re just looking to avoid massive amounts of jail time here and I think Trump will get into it if they are convicted.

    I ordered something from Amazon for my friend day before yesterday. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday at her house. She told me about 7:30 that she hadn’t gotten it yet. So, I checked my emails and there was a picture of it lying on her walk at her front door. That is the first time I have seen that. She had last checked at 5:30 and it was dropped off at 6:30.

    If you’re familiar with Glenn Gould’s beautiful work, you also likely know he was a strange man…some think he might have had something similar to Asperger’s…but this quote from him does make sense, to me anyway…LOL!

    “I don’t know what the effective ratio would be, but I’ve always had a sort of intuition that for every hour you spend with other human beings, you need X number of hours alone.     Jesus doesn’t say that everyone in the world is His brother. He said… “Anyone who does the will of My Father in heaven is My mother and brother and sister.” (Matthew 12:50)

    Are Muslims doing the will of God the Father–Yahweh of the Bible, one part of the Trinity? Absolutely not! They are our fellow human beings created by God. Their humanity is to be respected. Their philosophy, however, is another matter entirely.

    Multiple things to do in town today, most important being getting my crew cut done by the last remaining barber in the area who can free-hand do one.

    While I’m in the chair two guys walk in and the conversation starts to get around to the drone shootdown. Guy one starts saying how the governments covering stuff up, how we haven’t heard if the pilot’s dead, alive but captured or ejected and was recovered. Guy two starts saying it was a Navy drone that was given to the Navy by the Army when it got too old. I passingly mentioned that the Navy has its own model of the Predator drone and the Army doesn’t use it.

    One got indignant and starts saying the Army flies them all over and two starts to tell me that some models have two pilots inside. I politely said that things may have changed, after all I’ve been retired over 10 years and later Predator drones may have been fitted with single or double pilot cockpits and the Army might well have added piloted Predator drones to its inventory, paid the barber and unassed the shop most ricky-tik before the aluminum hats came out.

    That interlude made Walmart seem enjoyable in contrast.

    What a day it was today. It was 95* at 9:00 am. At 1:30 PM I went to Publix to pick up a few things and then over to Walmart to pick up my groceries. The air conditioner on my car hasn’t been working really well. When I left Walmart, about half way through the parking lot there was a little ping and a light came on the dash and the car was overheating. The coolant was spewing everywhere. It took AAA about 2 1/2 hours to get there. Some friends were at Walmart and stopped and took my frozen stuff with them and then picked me up later after the car was checked at the garage since it will be there overnight or longer. It was super hot, but luckily the guys in the auto shop pushed the car into the shade for me. And, there was a slight breeze, but I was still miserably hot. Well, the car got towed, the problem was evidently the fan ,and will be fixed for a chunk of money. I just noticed when I took a shower that I have a sunburn even though I was in the shade all day. 🙄 It was a miserable afternoon. Oh, and it was 100* at my apt. Outside, not inside.
