   Problem is that healthcare is: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

   The primary function of a medical office is to avoid exposure to liability with a very close second being to monetize the patient. You go into a doctor’s office, especially one owned by a hospital corp, and the software in their computer is designed to assist the doctor in wringing what s/he can out of your specific insurance. That doc may skip a question but that software will prompt the doc (or, increasingly a medical extender) to ask as that allows the billing code to be adjusted from, let;s say, ‘ 99211’ to a more profitable ‘99213’ or even better. You may not notice much of a change in the office visit but by a creative use of wording a few more $$$ can be billed…not that the insurance company will pay the bill.

   It’ll probably mean a lesser standard of care…at least for a while…but the ‘your money or your life’ thing has to be dealt with before it crushes the system.
