I was so proud of President Trump at this dinner. His speech was great. I loved that he said something about the Queen making the weather good that made her and Prince Phillip laugh. And, of course, Melania looked beautiful and like a queen herself.

I thank our First Couple that the Queen thought him worthy to invite for a State Dinner. I thank the Queen for extending the invitation.

Although I believe that the Queen holds no animosity towards President Trump, the invitation was to the President of the United States, and not to the particular person holding that office, and honors our country. I think that President Trump’s enemies often forget that.

I think they may not only have forgotten that, I don’t think they know or care. It is just he is in the way of their taking control of the world.

They don’t have enough class and sense of decorum to comprehend nuances like this. And I am not talking about manners and good breeding, though they lack those too. I’m talking about having the decent operational knowledge to get by in a particular environment without making frequent faux pas. Which apparently is nothing but a thing now.

In case this interests you (it does me!) here is a bit about the jewels that Queen Elizabeth is wearing at tonight’s banquet:

Queen Victoria’s Crown Ruby Earrings and Necklace

Queen Victoria bought from Garrard in 1854 a magnificent necklace of opals surrounded by diamonds with a matching pendant, drop earrings, and a brooch, which she later left to the Crown. No fan of opals, Queen Alexandra had the earrings and necklace switched for stunning large rubies, likely Burmese and given to Queen Victoria by rulers from India and surrounding areas. She did the same for the tiara that the pieces had been purchased to accompany, the Oriental Circlet. Though they weren’t rubies in Victoria’s time, I have chosen to use the name “Queen Victoria’s Crown Rubies” to differentiate these from other rubies that have been left to the Crown.

The set passed from queen to queen until it landed in the hands of Queen Elizabeth, the future Queen Mother. The Oriental Circlet became one of her favorite tiaras (one of only two she wore in her later years, in fact), and with it she often wore the Crown Rubies. She kept them until her death in 2002, at which point they came into The Queen’s possession. The Queen has used them sparingly, continuing to use the ruby jewels she had before her mother passed away.

This particular tiara has a fascinating history.

The most interesting thing about this beautiful tiara is that the Queen designed it herself, giving the public an insight in her true taste in jewellery.

Many of the Queen’s other tiaras have been inherited or given to her in their finished form.

However, the Queen had the opportunity to get creative with this piece.

Her Majesty was given 96 rubies from the people of Burma. In 1973 she used the gems, along with some diamonds she already owned to create this piece.

Rubies are given as a gift in Bruma because they are believed to protect from illness.

The design is rather flashy, proving Her Majesty likes a bit of bling. It is made from both gold and silver, with rose created from the rubies.

With the tiara the Queen today chose to wear a hugely historic necklace.

The Queen opted for Queen Victoria’s Crown Ruby Earrings and Necklace.

Her Majesty also wore three large brooches covered in glittering diamonds.

One represented the Coldstream Guards, the oldest regular regiment in the British Army.

She also wore a badge with an image of her father George V in military uniform.

And the Queen wasn’t the only royal wearing a stunning royal tiara.

Kate Middleton’s tiara is the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, worn by Princess Diana.

The piece belongs to the Queen, but has been loaned by Kate many times.

It was made by Garrards in 1914 for Queen Mary who designed it and left it in her will to her Majesty, The Queen. It is estimated to be worth between 1 and 2 million.

The very heavy piece went back into The Queen’s collection after Diana died in 1997.

When the queen mentioned President Trump’s Scottish heritage, I thought about the other side of his heritage – German – which he and the Queen share.

Another thing that I always think about when the British play our national anthem – that the lyrics were written at the battle of Baltimore, where the British were defeated in the War of 1812.

Every time I see her, I am tickled pink that the raving Leftists said that they, as a matter of principle, would not design for her.

    Dummies.
