Stella's Place 
Japan and the US need each other as partners in countering North Korea. Japan’s being bullied by China, and China’s using NK as a surrogate to poke Japan.
Japan’s in the middle of its biggest Naval buildup since WW II but is running out of people young enough for military service and to ‘person’ its factories. By mid-century Japan’s population is projected to be quite elderly, as is China but China has more bodies.
I see the US’s military strength as a benefit to Japan and Japan’s advances in robotics as a benefit to the US. Let’s see if we can keep Japan above water or will the Rats sell it out o the Chinese?
