BTW, the people I went to the music singalong with today are Democrats. Riding over, the driver says to us, “Have you read the Muller Report.” I thought, “Oh, boy, here we go!” Then the driver said, “It’s pretty obvious that Trump was set up.” Trying not to fall off the seat, I told him I agreed completely. Then he added, “And I think it was by Hillary.” Hahahahaha!

    Excellent article….

Joe Biden On Anita Hill In 1998: ‘She Was Lying’
It’s true that Joe Biden did his best to help Anita Hill, including concealing witnesses who would have been a disaster under examination. But even he admitted to his colleague that Hill was lying.

I’m expecting perhaps a little heat from next door. Someone posted a link to an article reporting a Coptic priest in Egypt being beaten in front of his parishioner by Egyptian (presumably Moslem) thugs. I replied that that particular incident was rather mild since the usual M.O. was to burn/bomb the church during services to kill as many Copts as possible.

I explained that the Coptic Christian religion was founded around 45 AD and predated Islam by some 600 years and over the subsequent 1400 years or so the Moslems have been killing Copts, especially in Egypt.

Something I didn’t want to touch is how Egypt is so important to US affairs in the Mideast that we routinely and regularly forgive the Egyptian government its role in many (most?) of these murders, bombings and arsons. That thread has run through every Administration as far back as I can remember, it’s as if State has a booklet of prepared statements of vanilla outrage designed to show any American who cares the government is appalled and the Egyptians that they should be more careful in their genocides.

I wouldn’t trust our government to protect any religion when it’s not in their best interests. Right now we see members of Congress spouting antisemitic and anti-Christian rhetoric, unthinkable just a few short years ago, with precious little response from many other members. I ain’t saying our government’s as bad as Egypt but it sure ain’t what it was 50 years ago as far as religion is concerned.

in’t even gonna do any post to draw away from this. I agree that some folks may have what, to them, are valid reasons not to vaccinate themselves or their children but I also believe that’s a valid reason to put them on some habitable but far, far from land island to live out their lives.

With that horde of unvaccinated folks schlepping north to our border. We already have diseases here brought by the 3rd world carriers and need all of the protection we can get. I made sure my GGS had all of his vaccinations, as hard as it was to sit there while he did, and my new GS is on target too. I had m y vaccinations, an ungodly number BTW, during my service as I was in countries where you’d throw your boots away as you left. I don’t think they caused me any permanent damage, depending on whom you ask, but never once post-vaccination did I ever vote Democrat so that should show something.

Your post reminded me that the vaccination issue isn’t new.

Back during Desert Storm when we were processing Reserve soldiers for deployment it was found that their units hadn’t kept up with their vaccinations. There was a requirement that all military be vaccinated not only with their basic series but any specific vaccinations required for their deployment area.

The Cold War ended and with their old missions over the units just sorta went into auto pilot, things fell thru cracks and shots were one of those things.

The troops got two or three days per unit to in-process and the medics set up a line with screens on both sides. The troops were given a list of shots they needed, dropped trou and rolled up sleeves and got stuck. We had some sick troops going thru training, those multiple shots hit the body hard, but it showed that even where rules were in place vaccinations just sorta get put into 2nd or 3rd place. We don’t see the need so we figure there’s no need.

I remember standing in an hours-long line to get the first Salk polio shots for eveyone in my family. I keep track of when my tetanus boosters are due. I get the first offer of flu shots every year at work. Got the shingles shot on my 65th birthday since that was the first day I could get it. Had the pneumonia shot & 2 boosters already.

I’ve had shingles, and dayum, I never want it again. However, one sister in law got the vaccine and was sick for weeks. This woman is tough as they come, and she said it was pain of 12 on a 10 scale. I chickened out as the actual shingles were awful, but not even close to that bad.

I know that she had an unusual reaction, but it was scary.

Yesterday afternoon my daughter and I had to go to WalMart. A table was set up out front with parents sitting behind it, a jar on the table and sign that said a baseball team needed money to go to a tournament.
Normally I will help kids, but normally kids are selling something or doing something to raise the money, car wash, helping people get their groceries to the car, jump-a-thron, etc. These boys were in their baseball uniforms, running in and out of the doors getting in everyone’s way. One boy yelled at me, “We need money!” I just ignored him and told them they needed to get out of the doorway. I thought about giving my opinion, but my grandson was needing to use the bathroom so I just went on in.
My daughter who was a little behind me said she stopped and told them what she thought after 4 of the boys tried to prevent her from going through the doors and told her to give them money. She first told the boys they needed to learn some manners and then one of the Dad’s told her they were just little boys a little over eager. She told the Dad, “no they’re not just little boys a little over eager, they look to me like they’re probably playing 10 and under, so the youngest are probably 8 years old, plenty old enough to know better. Yet they have parents who are sitting there on their butts watching them act that way and not saying a word. I would not give them a penny, because it teaches them that they can act like little hoodlums and demand people give them money.”
A mom said, “They’re doing nothing wrong and not being taught anything, they’re just trying to raise money so they can go out of state to play baseball, which teaches them sacrifice and hard work.”
My daughter replied, “I grew up playing ball and so I have been in these boys’ shoes and let me tell you what it taught me. It taught me that you work for money. When I was their age raising money for ball tournaments we sat in front of WalMart and respectfully asked if they would sponsor us per minute or hour while we jumped rope or we asked them respectfully to buy candy bars, suckers, caps, shirts, etc. We set up in parking lots and washed cars all day. We didn’t harass people and demand money. Maybe you should teach your boys some manners and respect and to work for the money instead of expecting people to pay the little brats to move out of the way and your jar over there wouldn’t be almost empty.”

Another Dad said, “Our jar is almost empty because people are too tight to help kids out anymore.”
She replied, “Keep telling yourself that instead of admitting parents allowing their kids to act like hoodlums make people not want to award bad behavior from adults or kids.”
She started walking away and another Mom yelled at her, “maybe you should mind your own business, you could have just went on in without opening your mouth.”
She stopped and said, “I was minding my own business trying to walk into a store when I had little thugs in the making trying to block my way and demanding I give them money. Keep your brats out of the doorway and teach them some manners and then I could mind my own business as you say.”

When we came out they were gone, I’m sure they packed up still complaining about the rude lady and the tight people not willing to help kids.

This is a sad commentary on the state of our society. Yet these same Walmart and other local stores will force Salvation Army bellringers to stand outside in a blizzard to collect for needy people at Christmas.

Ever stop and talk with those bellringers? They have the best stories, and are the most appreciative people in the world when you go in the store and bring them back lunch and a cup of hot coffee or cocoa.
And then you see those little spoiled brats…sigh

Our WalMart allows veterans to set up and of course they’re always friendly and never harass anyone. I’ve seen other kids set up and not act like these brats, although these aren’t the first I’ve seen act like that.
        Usually though they’re selling something.

I think these were a team with parents who want to travel, but don’t want to cough up the money, so thought they’d set outside WalMart and people would just automatically give them money.

Just a few weeks ago at the grocery store there were some 4H kids set up selling baked goods and candy bars raising money for a trip. They were all polite and stayed where they were supposed to. Parents were in the background.
When I came back out I bought some candy bars, cookies, bread, just about one of everything. They were so excited that they had already made over $300 in a few hours.

One of the interesting things on 60 Minutes last night was the program ‘outing’ the father-son team in China responsible for a great part of the fentanyl smuggled into the US. Now the government’s known who they are and the delicate negotiations with the Chinese government over having them arrested have been going on BUT you’ve gotta figure that with the huge amount of money the team’s bringing in payoffs are being made and that’s stalling any actions.

Up to last night the identities of the team were mostly between our two governments but now, thanks to ’60 Minutes’, they’re known openly. I rarely have much good to say about 60 Minutes, and haven’t watched it much since the Operation Tailwind BS, but they did a service here. Now that the perps have been outed they’re a major liability to the Chinese government and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them arrested, tried and executed – as are so many Chinese crooks who get outed – in the near future. Nails that rise above the board must be hammered down.

I don’t see the Chinese government stopping the fentanyl – or any other drug they distribute – trade, I see it slowing for a while as the attention hose shifts sd the People’s Government finds a more discrete entrepreneur to fill in. There’s too much money to be made supplying an eager West with drugs and the Chinese, with a sense of history, remember the Opium Wars. We may get a respite but it probably won’t last long, we loves dem drugses toooooo much.

The reason I never care much about who is supplying all these drugs and prosecuting them, is because it wouldn’t be a problem if we weren’t the ones demanding the drugs. Until we figure out how to stop people from wanting them, we have no chance at stopping it. The only thing I care about is the crimes druggies cause. Over and over, rehab after rehab.

The drug issue is a snake with both heads and needs to be decapitated at both ends. I spent too many years dealing with the secondary effects from both the supply and the consumption side and possession, sales and use needs to be criminalized to the point where neither side finds the punishment acceptable.

If we need to fence off a few thousand acres of Wyoming and dump the sellers/users there for their time, let’s do it. Until we make use and possession so painful that demand tanks we’re gonna continue to have a mess.

There are organizations out there lobbying to have hard drugs inspected by the government, made legal and the government’s to provide a safe place for users to use.

They see NORMAL’s success in getting pot legalized on the West Coast and in Colorado and are heartened. There are lobbyists now in Denver to make peyote as legal as pot and in Frisco they’re lobbying for safe places for users to use. Safe places 1st, legal hard drugs later.

That makes me want to spit. I have reached my limit with drug abusers, period. It’s to the point where doctors won’t give enough pain meds to people who genually are in pain, but we want to help people who just want to get high. Seriously ticks me off. I have dear friends who are suffering with pain and can’t get more meds or whose meds have been cut because? who knows why. All because the gov wants to stop drug abuse. Well, guess what? People who aren’t druggies are the ones suffering real pain, as opposed to druggies wanting a fix. People are killing themselves because they can’t stand the pain any longer and the states and cities and gov want to make it right for druggies? I really don’t want to say the first 2 words that come to mind.

I’ve said for over 50 years that sections and people in the government are involved in drugs. We can go in and quash a huge organization like ISIS in a few months while we’ve been ‘fighting’ the Drug War for some 50 years. ISIS is almost dead but the price of a kilo of cocaine is, adjusted, less than it was then and opioids are more available and cheaper now than at any timer in history. Tain’t no accident.
