And their attempts take them into more and more bizarre territory. The latest is Kamala Harris, but there are many new ones every day:
DACA illegal immigrants should be hired to help prepare laws for 330 million Americans, according to a draft bill introduced by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and 20 other Democratic senators.
“The giant sign outside my office says ‘DREAMers Welcome Here’ because we know and value the contributions that these young people have made to their communities,” the California senator said in a Wednesday statement about the DACA job offer. She continued:
But right now, those same young people are banned from giving back to their country by working for Congress. That has to change … Government works best when it reflects the people it represents. Our nation’s DREAMers are some of our best and brightest, and it’s time they had the opportunity to get a job or paid internship on Capitol Hill.
Earlier this week, Beto O’Rourke stated that he would support reparations:
On the opening day of a gathering of Black leaders and voters in New York, two Texans seeking the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination delved into the issue of reparations for African Americans over slavery.
Speaking at the four-day conference of the National Action Network, the civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Al Sharpton, former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke and former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro weighed in on the topic. The question of whether to support reparations for African Americans as a means of addressing centuries of slavery and legal discrimination emerged as something of a litmus test earlier this year for Democratic presidential candidates.
After a speech that at times drew on stories of civil rights history from O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso, he was asked by Sharpton whether he would back a House bill that would create a commission to study the issue of reparations. He said equivocally [sic] that he would back the bill, sponsored this year by Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas.
Apparently a reparations bill is also supported by Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro, and Corey Booker.
Checking with Wiki (I know, but they have a comprehensive article), all of the major candidates (and there are many-at least 18 official candidates at this time) support the following:
- Right to abortion.
- Requirement that contraception be paid for by insurance companies.
- Government funding of Planned Parenthood.
- Amendment to the Constitution to overturn Citizens United.
- Legalization of marijuana.
- Raise the minimum wage.
- Tuition-free public college.
- Abolish the electoral college.
- Green New Deal.
- Support the Paris Agreement.
- Iran Nuclear Deal.
- Universal background checks.
- Banning of “assault weapons”.
- Single payer health care system.
- Reinstating “Net Neutrality”.
- Paid family leave.
- Transgender military service.
Then there are the things they are against:
- Border wall.
- Travel ban.
- Military intervention in Venezuela.
- Capital punishment.

And in another bill being drafted convicted drug sellers will help write laws on drug policy and convicted pedophiles will be recruited to help plan kiddies’ after school programs. Something for everyone, a comedy tonite!
