    Today is the feast day of St. Joseph. It is also Father’s Day in some European countries. In Italian neighborhoods, there is a special pastry for the day — the zeppole. You can read about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeppole

    If you know someone named Joseph, wish him a happy St. Joseph’s Day. If you live near an Italian baker, run — do not walk — to get a zeppole or two or ten.

    Everyone seems to be going on about Omar’s how “we must apply our universal values to all nations’ rant. I’ve seen about three interpretations of her bit but that little piece in my mind that makes me Islamophobic asks if she might not mean ‘our’ as in Moslem and not US values.

    The PC streak infecting the country makes us immediately shy away from the idea that the ‘our’ could possibly be Islamic values – that would mean she was putting Islamic doctrine over American values and we must never think that, that’s Islamophobic (see ‘me’) but as I read thru her rant I think “Hmmmmm…maybe…”.

      Good morning! My kids have an English Bulldog they got as a puppy before they had kids. He is about the dumbest dog in the world, but the best kids’ dog. He loves his kids, lets them crawl all over him and when they were babies would let them pull his ears, poke him in the eye.

        Sounds like he was a very sweet dog. My sister had labs when her kids were young and they crawled all over the dogs and even used them as pillows for naps. It’s amazing how tolerant some animals are.

          He still loves the grandkids and they love him. He would welcome any stranger in the yard, he’s a people dog except when the kids are outside. He went after the Fed-EX guy, UPS guy and the grandkids other grandfather for trying to come through the gate when the grandkids were outside playing.

        I can’t really do it justice by describing it…but I’ll try. We also used to push a loop thru the top/final eyelet on either side instead of a single lace. Instead of a knot we’d push the end of the lace thru the opposite loop, tighten and tuck the loose end into the top of the boot. It kept the usually used bow knot from coming undone under stress and left a ‘clean’ top to the boot.

        I still have my trusty old 11-hole Corcorans, with sewn on and not glued on soles. THAT was a boot.

    The weather is getting warmer. Later this week I’ll start putting my plants outside part of the day, covered by a clear storage bin, as a makeshift greenhouse.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Stupidity runs deep. I saw a news article shared on FB about one of Oklahoma’s many child rapist women teachers sentenced to a measly one year in jail and 9 years probation.

    Just a few of the comments, all women except one:

    I am not nearly as outraged over a woman doing this as I am when a man is the offender. I don’t justify my bias, just telling the truth.

    Your biased “truth”, aka feelings ( like the accused), & obviously the courts, is part of the problem. Stiffer sentencing of female predators.

    Males and females are different.

    I’m quite aware of that. Your point?

    Even a male child, cannot be raped. A teen male wanted it or she couldn’t have forced him. Your biology lesson of the day, a male must be aroused and have an erection in order to have intercourse, a female doesn’t have a penis, so no need for arousal.

    Your lesson on Oklahoma laws; Statutory rape is prosecuted under Oklahoma’s rape and sex crime laws.
    First degree rape includes consensual sex (which includes vaginal or anal intercourse or penetration, however slight, by a body part or object) between a minor who is younger than 14 and a defendant who is 18 or older. The offense is a felony, and potential penalties include at least five years (and up to life) in prison.
    Second degree rape includes consensual sex between a minor younger than 14 and a defendant who is younger than 18. It also includes consensual sex between a minor who is 14 or 15, and a defendant who is 18 or older. The offense is a felony, and potential penalties include at least one year (and up to 15 years) in prison.
    Lewd or indecent acts with a child younger than 16 includes sexual touching (without penetration) between a minor who is younger than 16 and a defendant who is at least three years older than the victim. Potential penalties include at least three years in prison.
    Law extends the age to 20 when sex is between a teacher and a student.

    Age of consent laws are not constitutional. The only rape laws that are constitutional are forced rape and a male cannot be raped unless he is sodomized. All of these boys want it and these women should fight these charges all the way to the Supreme Court, they are not rapists.

      Since the U.S. Constitution does not cover sex acts, laws governing them are a states’ rights issue. If a state chooses to set laws governing such acts–and most do–that is within their purview.

      This is the reason why laws regarding abortion are a states’ rights issue. It’s NOT covered by the Constitution. SCOTUS was involved in a purposeful misreading or reading into the Constitution something that is not actually there. Roe v. Wade is fake.

        People are stupid though and I see so many who don’t even know what the Constitution says and do not comprehend what amendments are.

        Did you know an Alabama teacher sued to overturn her conviction for having sex with a student? Her argument was a little different as she claimed her conviction was unconstitutional because it holds school employees to a higher standard than other professions. She also argued she had a constitutional right to private, consensual, sexual intimacy.

          Amazing! There should be a rule/regulation that a person cannot teach in a school from 7th grade through graduate school without being thoroughly conversant in the U.S. Constitution. Ignorance of our Constitution is rife but apparently that’s a plus for most school districts.

            Something needs to be done about all these teachers, majority women these days who are having sex with students. A start would be in the punishment stage and quit giving them a slap on the wrist.
            Another problem is a teacher can do something at one school and if charges aren’t filed they’ll allow them to resign so it won’t go in their file, that needs to become illegal.
            Schools should set rules that teachers cannot communicate with students through social media, text or phone or it’s immediate termination. Almost every case in Oklahoma, it started through instagram, private messages on FB or text. These teachers start contacting them and those exchanges that have been disclosed show how they go about grooming the boys.
