    Kiddo was really cranky today but eventually made it. The psychologist said that her appointments keep taking longer because as they test him, for them to move on to another section, he has to attain a certain number of errors. Kiddo is not making regular errors and so they keep going with each section until he meets a threshold. So academically he may be bored and immature socially not knowing how to deal with that.
    We still have 3 or 4 appointments to go. I may have to wait until December for a final report bc of the holidays this month.

    As an aside, shopping season is really pushy this year or I am just noticing it more. I have used this site for several years to browse black friday and pre black friday ads. There are several posted already. It cuts down on my desires to go if I already know no one has anything we want to get!

      Yup, just saw our first national commercial on the TV today. Usual NOLA stores have had Xmas window ads up for over a week. Merry Chri$tma$.

          It’s just stores trying to cash in, where it tends to irritate me I can understand the need.
          I don’t mind the idea of the Christmas feeling 24/7 but I ‘m irritated by the crass commercialism seemingly being extended closer and closer to July 4th.

      This is really terrific news ! What does it mean? It means that he is a young boy who has been allowed to be a young boy, he hasn’t been squashed into being a mind numb follower and he is bright to boot!

          I mean how socially mature can a 5 year old boy be? Of course they can be well mannered and should have more graces than a 2 year old but they’re a 5 year old boy!

            The way I figure it, a five year old boy should be able to not bonk another child on the head with a heavy toy. However, you might him to retaliate if another child hits him, although this should certainly be discouraged 🙄 . He can only be expected to sit quietly for so long……….measured in minutes, not hours. And, it is also normal for a five year old boy to fidget and need to run around…………….a lot.

              Agreed. Small children are not natural sitters although technology is altering many of their brains with them being connected to phones, iPads and other electronic life 24/7. One of the saddest things in the world is seeing small small children sitting engrossed in an iPhone as they sit motionless in the front part of a shopping cart totally unaware of the world around them, their parent equally uninterested in their child. Sad.

    We’ve been so caught up in the “caravan”, the rallies and election…and rightfully so…really important stuff…but we’ve been getting next to nothing about what’s happening on the Page/Strzok/Priestap/Steele/dossier/UK/Australia/FISA/FISC front.

    BTW, I’ve been such a bad girl for two days and spending over 12 hours each day on the computer. Eyes are killing me. So I’ll probably be gone for a couple of days. Listening to radio is nowhere near as fun as tooling around Stella’s and other great sites. I’m gonna be sooooo bored having to clean house plus clean out more “memorabilia” from my paper and CD files. LIFE!

    Mom’s new kitteh died at the vet under anesthesia yesterday. Got in a fight, the anesthetic and stress at the vets killed him. His name was Boots, who just showed up at her door a couple of years ago. She’s sad right now, and I understand. You befriend a feral cat and it goes and dies on you. That’s sad. Been there.

    Awwwwwww rite, ch’all, it’s NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY! In honor of this there’s a group in NOLA that’ll be making the city’s flagship sammich, the po’ boy. Not just any po’ boy but a 500-foot long po’ boy. As a nod to the traditionalists the makers will use the city’s flagship bread and meats, all fulla fat and taste. No tofu, no arugula and gluten out da whazoo.

    This trumps the 300-footer built jes da udduh day heuh. For true, 300-feet on one day and 500 today. Day’ll be givin’ away chawnks uv it tuduh folks who be comin’ by. Eat ya hawt owt vegans, real Nawlins food faw real Nawlins eatuhs.

    Archdiocese of New Orleans releases a list of known sex abusers they’ve shielded over the years. List consists pf 124 clergy still living and 18 deceased.
    One of the things that forced the release of the list was a piece done by local news about young boys serially raped at school by a janitor while one of the priests watched. It went on for years and the Archdiocese has been covering it up, even paying victims under a nondisclosure agreement. One of those paid off decided to come out and said the Archdiocese could have its money back and provided a copy of the agreement to the reporter.
    Tort lawyer all over the city are planning big Christmas parties.

    I have noticed something this morning. The Dem commenters are saying that 90+% of the people that come in illegally and are given ankle bracelets and supposed to return for a court date actually return for court. A lie. And, the number went up from about 92% to 99% between 11:00 and 2:00. We know that the number is actually very small.

    Good news that got lost in the shuffle (at least for me):

    Social Security, one of America’s most popular public programs, will deliver a welcome change in 2019 to the nearly 48 million older adults collecting retirement benefits. The average monthly payment will rise by 2.8 percent, which is the biggest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) since 2012.

    It’s not a huge amount—an average hike of $39 a month, with the average check rising to $1,461, vs. $1,422 in 2018. But even a few dollars more can make a big difference for many older Americans.

    Two out of 3 retirees report that Social Security is a major source of retirement income, according to a 2018 survey by the Employee Benefits Research Institute (EBRI) and Greenwald Associates.

    “While a $39 raise may not seem like much, it can help cover needed medications or enable someone to put more food in the cart at the grocery store,” says Kathy Stokes, a senior adviser at AARP who specializes in financial issues.

    Another piece of good news: Retirees are more likely to notice the raise in their checks. In previous years, small increases in Social Security were offset by rising Medicare premiums, which are typically deducted from benefit payments. But for 2019, Medicare Part B premiums only went up by $1.50.

    I had to pick up the little guy from school. Poor thing had been sick again, which seemed to turn into a sinus infection. Ive got him started on antibiotics but he spiked a fever at school. I put him in bed and hes been out for 3 hours. Good thing its friday.

    Daisy went out for her constitutional and I heard her barking so I went out there. One of my Japanese persimmons still has a lot of fruit on it – no leaves but a lot of fruit. I shine my light up into the tree and there’s about six of the happiest possums you ever did see, too happy to even stop eating and run. Sort of a rural Xmas tree in the making.
