On the CBC coverage they have talked about the possible cave diseases. They also mentioned that at least some of the boys were sedated before bringing them out, to prevent panic.
They would have had to sedate me too, I’m thinking. However, I don’t care if the cave wasn’t initially flooded, I would never have made it in without being sedated either, so moot point. I don’t do tight, cramped places.
On behalf of the United States, congratulations to the Thai Navy SEALs and all on the successful rescue of the 12 boys and their coach from the treacherous cave in Thailand. Such a beautiful moment – all freed, great job!
So the coach led a group of young kids deep into a treacherous cave in pre-monsoon weather for a ‘rite of passage’, a ‘team building exercise’ by a coach who was a monk. OK, then they shoulda left him in the cave until October.
BTW, I love the partial excuse being offered that the kids ‘wanted’ to explore the cave. I’m on my 3rd generation of boys and Iearned long ago the 10, 11 and 12 year old boys want to do a LOT of things that need a flat out adult ‘NO!”:
12 yo girls get up to shenanigans as well! I can remember hitching a ride through town on a freight train with my besties once. If my Mom had known, I hate to think of the consequences, lol.

Most things young boys want to do needs a flat out no from an adult who can make it stick. And it gets worse after 12.

I cannot ever recall my parents telling me no. That was not a good thing, I survived childhood and especially my teen years by the Grace of God.

Yeah, I put some brakes on the kids but the ex didn’t. That didn’t work out so good but she was a free-range mom.
