   The U-2 and the T-38 entered service in 1957 and 1961, respectively. The T-38 is the military’s only supersonic final training aircraft it’s only used by the USAF as a final trainer.

   In 1960, at the age of 55 Jacqueline Cochran (first woman to break the sound barrier) used a T-38 to set a number of speed, altitude and distance records.

   More things that entered service before I did but they had to retire me.

     metal fatigue and stress cracking notwithstanding…..personally, my landing gear doesn’t go up or down smoothly anymore either.
