Was going to post something else entirely, but then saw this and loved it! Have a new wonderful artist to share with you. This is “Hero” by Daniel Gerhartz:

Daniel F. Gerhartz was born in 1965 in Kewaskum, Wisconsin where he now lives with his wife Jennifer and their three young children. Dan is inspired by Russian, European and American masters.
“My desire as an artist is that the images I paint would point to the Creator, and not to me, the conveyor. J.S. Bach said it well as he signed his work, “Soli Deo Gloria,” To God alone be the glory.” – Daniel F. Gerhartz.
So, I love his subject matter and style, and am blown away that his view of artistic ability being from and of God is the same as mine even down to the same quote by Bach as inspiring both of us, (and many others I’m sure) 😉

I did a little research and came up with this. Makes sense to me if it is true.

“It’s for “procedural reasons to preserve his right to bring the bill up again”.
This article from the Washington Post explains why former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid always seemingly vote against his own party.

It’s that somebody on the winning side of the cloture vote — in this case, the side voting against cloture — has to file a “motion to reconsider” if the matter is to be taken up again. “I suppose the broader parliamentary principle here is that it would be somewhat unfair to give someone on the losing side of a question a second bite at the apple,” Binder explains. So the rules provide for senators whose opinion has changed to motion for another vote, whereas those whose opinion stays the same don’t get to keep filing to reconsider.

Reid, and other majority leaders before him, have developed a clever workaround: Just change your vote at the last minute if it looks as though you’re going to lose, then move to reconsider. In theory, any supporter of the bill or nomination in question could do the same, but traditionally it’s been the majority leader.

  10. So…this is a story that makes me mad. How did Pakistan find out who this guy was and what he did? And why the frack did we leave the guy who helped us there? Couldn’t the SEALS have gotten him and his family out once they finished executed bin Laden?

    https://health.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/industry/doctor-who-aided-hunt-for-osama-bin-laden-languishes-forgotten/62603256

This article matches closer to the AP byline that I read this morning, which angsted about the fact that the Pakistan “military” was “shamed” by unauthorized US operations on their soil. Which I get, I’d be a bit upset if someone came into my country without permission…hm. Wait, this sounds familiar. Anyway, Pakistan has their feelings hurt, which is cute, but since I find Pakistan about as trustworthy as Iran, I don’t care. “We are angry the US didn’t tell us about this operation they wanted to do” – all I get out of that is, “We didn’t have time to warn bin Laden the Navy SEALS were coming.”

But maybe I’m just a cynic.

Remember, the Obama administration promised to keep all about the SEALS secret and then blabbed almost as it was happening. It was all over the news about the doctor giving the Bin Laden children vaccinations, etc. Also, remember the Awan family that had access to everything the Congress knew because of their knowledge of ALL of the Congress passcodes. But, I really think it was that traitor Faux Pres Obama that tipped them off.

      • I am starting to recall that, now that you mention it. The outrages of Obama were many, and I did start losing track.

What makes me most angry about this story is that Pakistan is reportedly so butt-hurt over what happened… But I do think that if we had waited for their permission they would have tipped Bin Laden off that the SEALs were coming. And let’s be honest: Pakistan may have snookered the AP, but I want to know if they really expect me to believe that Bin Laden was living in the country and they had no idea. I don’t believe that for a second. They knew that he was in their country and they didn’t care.

I’m glad Trump cut off the aid they got from the US. If only there was more he could do to them.

Somehow I don’t feel a bit different as a result.

Looked in pantry….no new food there

    So…..

  15. Do we do good things for people, for selfish reasons? I thought about this today as I listened to that SOJA video I posted yesterday (or Sat.?), “I believe, I believe, I believe I believe… No matter what you do… It’ll all come back to you.”

I’ve shoveled and blown snow for six or eight businesses for 10 years now. No money. It’s good morning exercise, and it makes me feel good that all these people don’t have to do it.

So last night. Gave half my paycheck to a friend at work, big black dude, ex-con, wonderful line cook and Christian. Two days ago his car broke down in Podunk, Illinois, and he called his actual brother to rescue him. He came, and then demanded gas money. His own brother. Then he had to pay for a tow. Then he had to pay to get his radiator hoses patched.

So when I put two hundies in his hand outside the restaurant, I said, “You don’t owe me a dime. You need this more than I do. Don’t call it charity. Call it tuition for one year of education on several fronts.” He almost cried. And I said, “I’m your Brother,” and pointed up and said “because we have the same Father.” Dude almost broke my back with his subsequent hug.

I thought about it all day after hearing his story. What was I going to spend $200 on? A mouse, a keyboard? Mine work just fine. Another game that I won’t play, and be bored tomorrow?

Is this behavior selfish? Selfless? Gave a bike to another worker once. It was given to me. He needed it more than I did. Here, Kev, have a Bianchi!

No matter what you do… it’ll all come back to you. Good or bad.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

A funny joke my daughter sent me:

Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was and I said, “Fried Chicken!”

She said I wasn’t funny but she couldn’t be right because everyone else laughed.

My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did, my favorite animal is fried chicken.

I told my Dad and he said my teacher was probably a PETA member and they love animals very much. I do too, especially chicken, pork and beef.

Anyway my teacher sent me to the principal’s office. I told him what happened and he laughed too and told me not to do it again.

The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why so I told her it was because you could turn them into fried chicken.

She sent me back to the principal’s office.

He laughed and told me to not do it again.

I don’t understand my parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am.

Today my teacher asked me to tell her what famous military person I admired the most.

    I told her, “Colonel Sanders.”

    Guess where I am now?

I could see my grandson saying something similar. He told a little girl at his birthday party that the sausage pizza came from his pigs. I don’t think she understood but her mother told my daughter that her little girl was too young to know where her food came from. My daughter told her, “sorry, but he lives on a farm and just knows those things and he thinks all sausage just automatically comes from his pigs.”
