This is Boo, one of five stars of the social media reality show “Lucky Ferals”, and he lives somewhere near the shore in New Jersey. His costars are mother cat, Stella, her sons, Simba and Splash, plus outdoor and still feral male, Hydrox.

Stella and her children were brought inside the house earlier in 2017, spayed and neutered and now happily reside full time indoors. They have, of course, taken over the New Jersey household.

Boo remained outside and was injured in a catfight, probably with Hydrox. His subsequent illness from the infected bite enabled the proprietor of Lucky Ferals to get him into a carrier, take him to the vet and have him attended to. Boo now resides in a guest room and has adapted beautifully to living indoors. The other kitties, however, are not sure if they want him inside even though they were great pals when all lived outdoors. They have yet to commingle.

Boo is a character, with a plaintive meow, a love of play toys–especially any kind with feathers–and is devoted to his human mother, though he hasn’t quite yet learned not to use his claws when playing or leaping for treats thrown to him.

Tonight’s edition is nearly 25 minutes. I’ll include the link should you want to invest the time or watch even part of it. I’m addicted.

Boo’s photo didn’t seem to come through. He’s a lovely black color with brown undertones and one patch of white on his lower abdomen. Just a little love.

I made the mistake of thinking that my vet would have Lucky’e seizure meds on hand when I needed them…mistake’s the word. The one he needs to make his primary med more effective was supposed to be ordered but….
The med’s not stocked by any local pharmacies so I had to wait two days to have it ‘overnighted’ to the vet and during that time his plasma levels dropped. Even though I got a dose of his primary med into him just after noon he had a seizure mid afternoon. I got the primary and booster into him on the regular schedule but between about 10 PM last night and 4 AM this morning he had small but significant episodes about evey two hours. I got his regular dose into him this AM on his regular schedule and he’s had no new seizures from about 4 AM until one he had about 30 minutes ago. They seem to be slowing down.
I blame myself on this one, living out here we’ve learned to have a backup prescription for our meds as our assigned Medicare scrip provider has at times been out of our meds. I just trusted that a local provider would have what he scripted to Lucky on hand. Lesson learned, will have a backup scrip at a mailorder pet meds site that can overnight to me just in case.
BTW, indoor cats sit up and cooly watch the seizure and have, when it ebbs, come down to sniff and nose-bump Lucky.

I’m so sorry. I know it is frustrating when things are so difficult to control. I order my own a month ahead or more, just for that reason. Of course, some meds have a short life and that can cause a problem. Sounds like the cats have some compassion.

Oh I’m covering it from all bases now, my overall trust levels have tanked. With my background you’d think I’d learned about that ‘trust’ thing.

Poor baby! I have siezures as well, so I really feel for him!. It’s been over a year since I had one, but I don’t trust getting behind in my meds!

Czar, I’m really sorry you, Mrs. C and Lucky had to go through this but now you know and what a blessing it is that the medicine is there for him and does such a tremendous job. You are all blessed to have each other.
