Good Morning Stella,
What has always interested me is how the human species (small man) can solve just about any problem presented to it by grand nature, it’s the problems we create that seem to give us the hardest time.
Good morning, Sand! It’s cold and rainy out today (and thru Thursday) which is getting rid of the last fire smoke remnants covering the Great Northwest.
I’m so happy for the rain – having a hard downpour here this morning (30 miles south of Portland in the Willamette Valley). Such a satisfying sound, as far as I’m concerned.
Of course, now the folks who are coming out of that 48,000 acre fire set by smart aleck kids playing with fireworks will be thinking about mud slides and flash floods for the next several months.
I also love that picture of the China desert above. I’ve always been fascinated by the pictorials or travelogues presenting the Mongolian desert/culture as well. Now there is some wide open, desolate country where a person had better know how to survive on their own. There is a splendid beauty in that.
Oh! The sun just broke through the clouds for a minute! Bright on the dripping leaves….
Evening Sharon, we do need some rain here. The morning due is very heavy, still the leave are falling (Oak, Cherry) but there is a High sitting over W.PA keeping the western rain out and pushing the hurricane off the east coast for a few more days. Noon temps today 84*.
The British have an umbilical cord which has never been cut and through which tea flows constantly. It is curious to watch them in times of sudden horror, tragedy or disaster. The pulse stops apparently and nothing can be done, and no move made, until “a nice cup of tea” is quickly made. There is no question that it brings solace and does steady the mind. What a pity all countries are not so tea-conscious. World-peace conferences would run more smoothly if “a nice cup of tea”, or indeed, a samovar were available at the proper time.
Good morning everyone. Beautiful day yesterday, another to follow today.
Follow up from yesterday’s’s discussion on this young man’s death. Some good information here. I believe that his efforts to convert Muslims will bear some fruit for those who follow his advice. In my mind I can’t help but contrast his tone, his heart, his advice, with that of Ann Barnhardt. Who is more likely to reach a questing soul?
One of my employees would sometimes stop by at lunchtime and ask if I wanted to order Chinese food with the gang. I would order tofu-something-or-other. When he dropped the order by my office, he would always announce that he hoped I enjoyed my Toad Food.
I ‘inherited’ this guy (who was very funny and very smart) and one day after about three months, I asked him what the initials after his name meant; he always signed his memos “John Smith, HSG” He had been with the company for at least seven years and no one had asked him the question before. The answer? HSG = High School Graduate.
I actually like tofu, especially in Thai red curry, but bacon is infinitely better! ๐ I was a vegetarian for years and I still have days where I don’t eat meat, but I can’t be a vegetarian anymore because…. bacon. ๐ฅ ๐
Soy is really not very good for you, so it’s better not to eat it. I don’t have it very often now, but in my veg days, I ate it daily. I am probably just weird… I like it.
HSG. Oh, I like that. ๐
I’m tempted to have a sweatshirt made for me with “MYU” on it.
“Make Yourself Useful”
Or, “SHK”
“School of Hard Knocks”
“OJT” is a possibility, too. (“On the Job Training”)
Though I’ve been an OS/Database/QueryLanguage/ProgrammingLanguage/Communications Software Engineer since 1986, conversant in at least 10 computer languages, I have no degree,
A lot of old-time programmers don’t have college degrees. I never got one, although I spent a bunch of time in classes learning coding. Also, learning and applying pc-based database design programs.
My dad (who was also an HSG and rose through the ranks to be highly successful) used to say, “It doesn’t matter what they call you, it matters what you answer to.”
Good Morning, Nyet and thank you! Good Morning everyone!
โWhen life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your D*** lemons, what the h*** am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!โ ~ J.K. Simmons
I’ve been around the block more than once but the sight of a full burka still freaks me out inside. If cities and states have mask laws (some do) how does this fly?
By the Moslems msking this a religious issue. We have a few head-to-toe wearers in NOLA and NOLA has very strong mask laws that are only, in writing at least, relaxed during Mardi Gras. The mask la is partnered with law prohibiting sex offenders from giving gifts or candy. I see a connection…. LA Rev Stat 14:313
Mississippi does not have a mask law…..then again I can’t see the hard core fundamentalist types being all that receptive of a religious group that wears masks and has a doctrine for killing Christians.
There’s a small mosque in my town ๐ฆ . Last year a taco place opened up right by it specializing in breakfast tacos with bacon and they also serve carnitas tacos. I was surprised the restaurant decided to open there, because it could make people uneasy, but the restaurant is still there and holding its own. Breakfast tacos sound good… might have to go check it out.
Por-k they allow a taco stand next to the den of din? Who cares, go over and order carnitas and a bacon taco, extra bacon, pig out. Let ’em know that their theocracy don’t be welcone here, no no no no. I’ll be in my workshop reloading.
It was surprising to learn that Paul Manafort was working for the Podesta Group!!!! ๐ณ It will be interesting to see if he actually gets indicted, but he lives or did live in Trump Tower and he was being wiretapped, so Trump is right again! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Manafort was working for the Posdesta Group? I have been super busy and only saw the headlines android some very superficial reading. Brutus’ everywhere.
Iโve been trying to find more information out about Manfafort and Podesta.
There are earlier articles that make vague connections and say basically about the same thing that CNN reported. Tenuous connection is what Iโm finding.
So from the CNN article;
The European Centre for a Modern Ukraine was formed in 2012 by three senior members of the Party of Regions, a pro-Russia party led by President Viktor Yanukovych and advised by Manafort.
A firm was being advised by both Manafort and the Podesta group but I donโt see where there is a merging of Manafort and the Podesta group.
It seems that CNN is asking us to believe that the Podesta Group was working in opposition to the Obama administration.
According to CNN The European Centre for a Modern Ukraine was a client of Tony Podestaโs lobby group.
Yet that assertion is brought into question in the same article.
The center played both sides of the aisle in US politics, also hiring Manafort’s consulting firm and a Republican-leaning lobbying firm, Mercury Public Affairs.
Marin, the Podesta spokesman, said his firm’s work for the center was supervised by Manafort’s consulting associate Rick Gates.
The center paid Mercury $720,000 and the Podesta Group $1 million from 2012 to 2014.
Hmmmโฆ.. it sounds like a story that CNN is hoping is true, they simply state that Marin (Podestaโs spokesman) said Podestaโs firm was supervised by Manafortโs consulting associate Rick Gates. Maybe I am just dull or tired but Iโm not following the dots.
I haven’t had time to look into it. I don’t like to think Manafort had some concerning business deals, but I’m glad you looked at it closer. Maybe all this will backfire on CNN and the DNC and they were sthe Podesta Group. It’s kind of mind boggling. I’ve pulled back a bit from politics because I’m tired of the attacks on our president. I’m ready for all the crazy investigations to come to an end and for President Trump to be allowed to do his job without having to fight everyone. Trump knew Trump Tower was wiretapped. I believe Manafort was let go about the same time. I hope we get clear answers about all of this. Sorry if this is rambling , but I’m writing this at 4:30 am because I randomly woke up. ๐
It’s a compilation of experiences by foreign ISIS volunteers confronting the reality of what ISIS is. It’s one of those few ‘based on true events’ things that actually hits home, I think I’m going yo buy a copy just to have it to show when I need to. Well worth the time spent watching, don’t expect this series to win any CAIR TV/movie awards.
An oldie but a goodie. Back during Vietnam the anti-military crowd told it as: “what do you feel when you shoot a woman or a child?”. Alternative version was: “How could you shoot a woman or a child?” Answer was: “I adjust my lead, they don’t run as fast.”
Yes, but Mexico City’s built on a swamp where everything’s sinking and sits on the lip of a masdive subduction zone. I was thinking the weight of the Mexicans leaving the area caused a lessening of the weight/pressure on the plate being underridden allowing that plate to slip. Only way to test it that I can see is returning our excess Mexican population to the area and see if it stabilizes the plate over time…a looooong time.
Ahhhh, you can say that I’m a Dreamer but I’m not the only one……
Maybe the global warming crowd can figure out a way to stop the subduction zone from moving!!!!! Your thesis has merit!!! Can you write that up and Mail too Al Gore, and Scientific American?????
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
I find it somewhat amusing that the Germans are surprised by the fact that she faces the death penalty. This in a country that stones women to death for having been raped. Obviously the Germans weren’t paying attention.

A lot of old-time programmers don’t have college degrees. I never got one, although I spent a bunch of time in classes learning coding. Also, learning and applying pc-based database design programs.

Seems a heavy aroma of bacon in the air might resolve the issue. ๐

Iโve been trying to find more information out about Manfafort and Podesta.
There are earlier articles that make vague connections and say basically about the same thing that CNN reported. Tenuous connection is what Iโm finding.
So from the CNN article;
Not to mention CNN lies ๐.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
