Made In America Week

White House:

On Monday, President Donald J. Trump hosted companies from across the country at the White House for the Made in America Product Showcase. In order to celebrate and highlight each state’s effort and commitment to American-made goods, businesses from each of the 50 states displayed their products made and produced in the United States.

Leaders from each company showcased their unique businesses on the South Lawn and on the State Floor of the White House. Products ranged from sandwiches, to wool blankets, to firetrucks; each business connected by the common thread of American excellence. The President visited and conversed with members from each company, assuring that the interests of the workers in the United States would not be pushed aside for global projects. Under the leadership of President Trump, the American worker will be championed.

Since his Inauguration, President Trump has been fighting on behalf of American workers and families. He signed the “Buy American and Hire American” Executive Order that targets the abusive use of waivers and exception to undermine “Buy American” laws that promote the allocation of taxpayer funds to American companies. The order also takes steps to stop the abuse of the immigration system and protect American workers.

might want to learn about the Dept of Labor regs before judging purely on MSM rhetoric and positions.

The H-1B program applies to employers seeking to hire nonimmigrant aliens as workers in specialty occupations or as fashion models of distinguished merit and ability. A specialty occupation is one that requires the application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and the attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. The intent of the H-1B provisions is to help employers who cannot otherwise obtain needed business skills and abilities from the U.S. workforce by authorizing the temporary employment of qualified individuals who are not otherwise authorized to work in the United States.

The law establishes certain standards in order to protect similarly employed U.S. workers from being adversely affected by the employment of the nonimmigrant workers, as well as to protect the H-1B nonimmigrant workers. Employers must attest to the Department of Labor that they will pay wages to the H-1B nonimmigrant workers that are at least equal to the actual wage paid by the employer to other workers with similar experience and qualifications for the job in question, or the prevailing wage for the occupation in the area of intended employment – whichever is greater.

You are right to complain about ABUSE of the H-1B employees at the expense of POTENTIAL US Citizen employees….but OFTEN…a corporation needs a specific talent, right now, in an out of the normal location for that talent, and the job is temporary due to a push for completing a specialized project. The Abuse is NONE so often as the MSM would have you believe. Many of these project jobs would totally disrupt an American family for a short duration project job with an end that is definable….not a career or long term solution for unemployment.

I was trying to make a sarcastic comment without watching the video. In regards to H-1B abuse, I see lots, in person, daily, for years.

almost every large product made up of components have some of the components made elsewhere….sometimes a company does not need a large volume of components that are made universal for lots of different products….and are a better product that if suddenly attempting to make them only in America…..let’s face it….assembled in the USA is a damn good start, as that is the major job creator…..worry about the small stuff as we recover and evolve back to America First and Only maybe. It is really easy to fall into the Black or White logic and demand meme…..we are in TURNAROUND mode, and that has to evolve, not just be dictated by absolutism. Trump is not advocating total immediate no holds barred only made in the USA immediately.

The largest ABUSE of H1B visas is in the IT industry….think Silicon Valley…the huge promoters of Obama and the liberals….as they actually started the worst of it in the 1990s when they began bringing in Indian IT workers on contracts to prepare software and products that were going to have issues when the Y2K date rollover occurred and there were not enough programmers and IT personnel available…prompting a predatory raiding of the industry small businesses by the large consulting organizations and the Silicon Valley IT ventures.

That is where the abuse was and is greatest….and that is the arrogance of the Zuckerbergs, Bezos, Cuban, Googles, Amazons, Microsoft and Apple crowds….they WANT now to get the cheaper folks, as US workers NOW have terrible work ethics, if any at all…..remember, we made college education of skills cheap for foreigners at our colleges….and now we see how well that worked out for us.
