I still remember a skit two guys from my Troop did at Boy Scout camp one summer.
Two surgeons arguing about the patient’s malady, whether it was a tumor or cancer, then a sheet hung to screen the audience from the “surgery”, with a light behind them to cast shadows on the sheet for the comedic effect of the swinging hammers, drilling drills, and sawing saws.
Finally one surgeon emerges, holds up a tin can and says, “I was right! Can, sir!”
Then the other came out, held up two cans and says, “I was right! Two more!”

I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning. Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to riseโand to give back. During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life…
Do believe I comnented on the five shootings/two murders all within 10 hours yesteday. We are hopingbthat now the ofending and blatant reminders of slsvery, which ended over 150 years ago, are removed the pdople offended will go back to studying hard, attending graduate school in hard sciences and generally become part of that Great Society they worked so hard to gain entry to over 50 years ago.
BTW, the statues are in a city property lot where, among other things, broken police vehicles are stored. As lying is to the mayor as swimming is to a fish few believed him as to where they’d be stored in the first place.
We have somecreally famous and ornate cemetaries in town, just wondering when he’ll move to have the Confederate monuments/memorials/gravestones in them removed.
Missed this one. There are soates of tomb and grave robberies all through our cemeteries, city jed don bevtalking ’bout it.
One news station was out filming a story about grave adornments being stolen and sold on the black msrket when they caught city cemetary workers opening tombs and dimping the coffins in dumpsters. They asked the wokers what was going on and were told the city basically rents spaces to the prols, after a certain time the renter’s resigned to the landfill along with the party trash.
Yeah, my doc (who’s my age) does that, but I have to grt that ‘set phaser to destroy’ mibdset first. Also, in McCain’s case I want to take my tome and enjoy it.

Still, no area of military personnal technology might be more indicative of how change has come to war than the American military helmet. โIn 1917,โ Blazich says, โwhen America entered World War I, we used a variation of the British helmet of the time, called the Brodie Helmet, or Mark 1 helmet.โ The American helmet was called the M1917.
Effectively an overturned metal dish weighing about 1.3 pounds, with a basic liner to keep a soldierโs scalp from chafing against the helmetโs manganese-steel alloy shell, plus a solid chinstrap that cinched tight, it was a primitive tool at best. As a protective device, Blazich says, it didnโt do much more than keep explosion-driven rocks off the tops of soldierโs heads while they were in the trenches of France. โThough it could also be protective against shrapnel, which was also a big concern in that war,โ Blazich adds.
Yet with no real face and side-skull coverage, it left troops wide open to facial and cranial injury, and lasting disfigurement from shell fragmentation was an enormous problem in World War I…
Artillery is called the Queen of Battle as it accounts for more casuslties than any other instrument in war. The steel helmet came about to protect the soldier’s head from shrapnel, particularly air burst. As little teenynpieces of shrapnel the size of half a grain of rice traveling at thousands of feet a second do damage on impact all out of proportion to their size it was important to keep soldiers hole-free.
Helnets are now rated as protecting from penetration bybsusc-and-such a bullet at so many hundreds of yards but that’s largely as the ballistics of that bullet are known, a standard, and more easily used as a measue of effectiveness than random shrapnel.
Note German WWII stahlhelm and how it was designed to protect the head and neck from shrapnel, a design (though they didn’t want to admit it, the US used in designing its current ‘plastic pot’. Standard 7.63×39 round fired out of an AK-47 can still penetrate a current helmet to around 400 yards.
It’s still hot today (in the 80’s), but will cool off tonight. The fan is running, so circulating air from the basement, where it is cooler. I have the ceiling fans, and it’s not too uncomfortable in here.
So sorry! Our upstairs unit went out last summer when it was 100 plus degrees outside, downstairs unit will probably do the same this summer. It always seems to be something.
Looking at the image at top again, I have to admire God’s sense of humor.
You have hundreds of beak-styles to pick from, as an Almighty Creator, and you pick that one and attach it to this bird’s body. Why? It doesn’t fit! Completely incongruous. It’s the clown shoe of beaks. Other birds are looking at it, askance, saying “Is that thing real?” The Geri Ryan of birds.
Hmmmmm….Mt Saint Helens, the super volcano under Yellowstone, Mt Vesuvius, St Kitts, Azores eruptions producing tsunamis that would inundate the US Atlantic coast…makes those A/C problems seem tame, eh?
We have A/C serviced before summer, those 100-degree with 90% humidity days makes a bum unit almost suicidal. There are still lots of folks out here who don’t have A/C but I don’t know how they do it.
I don’t know who installed this A/C unit, but it is a skinny little wire that runs from inside to the breaker box on the outside of the house. Idiot way to install, because it was very easy to break. Pretty much like everything they did to this house that I have had to fix – roof, furnace, chimney – you name it. My inspector said, “These people have to stop having their buddies do their work for them.”
Squirrel who installed the pump in our septic wired the 110-volt pump and aeration sytem into a 220-volt line, ran a hot loosely to a neutral line and screwed the grounding. Didn’t find out until the pump burned out (took about four years, wondered why the sprayers threw water out about 200 feet). Electrician who fixed it said that we were lucky the hot wire didn’t touch the metal enclosure or we’d have been fried had we touched it. Bubbas rule.
Fortunately, the electrician who did the work in my house (when they updated the kitchen, updated the panel) lives next door, and he IS a licensed electrician.

McCain was a member of the US Navy too….I don’t like folks that are military screw ups like McCain….I wonder why we think that everyone IN the military actually SERVED the nation instead of just sucked off the taxpayers and got a free college education like he did because his daddy was an Admiral.
No, the new health care bill does not treat rape as a pre-existing condition and Republicans did not celebrate its passage with beer.
The latest media outrage is driven by a Washington Post story about intelligence disclosures based on claims by anonymous sources. The Postโs big hit pieces are mainly based on anonymous sources.
Its latest hit piece runs a quote from, โa former senior U.S. official who is close to current administration officials.โ Thatโs an anonymous source quoting hearsay from other anonymous sources.
This isnโt journalism. Itโs a joke.
Last week, the Washington Post unveiled a story based on โthe private accounts of more than 30 officials at the White House.โ The fake news story falsely claimed that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein threatened to resign.
Rod had a simple answer when asked about that piece of fake news. โNo.โ
So much for 30 anonymous sources and for the Washington Postโs credibility. But the media keeps shoveling out pieces based on anonymous sources and confirmed by anonymous sources while ignoring the disavowals by those public officials who are willing to go on the record.
The Comey memo story is based on, according to the New York Times, โtwo people who read the memo.โ And then “one of Mr. Comeyโs associates read parts of it to a Times reporter.”
Thanks Stella, great piece. I also liked this part:
The Washington Post’s “Trump fired Comey because he’s taller” could easily have come from Saturday Night Live, The Onion or the Daily Show.
The truly damning epitaph of American journalism is that there isn’t much of a difference. Saturday Night Live isnโt doing comedy and the Washington Post isnโt doing journalism. Theyโre both manufacturing viral Trump attacks.
Getting your news from the Washington Post is as worthless as getting it from Saturday Night Live.
While more respectable papers like the Post and the Times occupy the top rung of the fake news ladder, CNN has become the National Enquirer of Trump bashing. No story is too petty or fake to get airtime or site space. Recent examples that have gone viral include, โIs the President Afraid of Stairsโ and โPresident Gets 2 Scoops of Ice Cream, Everyone Else 1.โ

I need to stay off Twitter today. Got in a argument about Roger Ailes. People ragging calling him a sexual predator. I’m sorry, but when two women wait years to lodge a complaint and the accused was not given a chance to tell his side, I have a problem with that. I spent my whole life in jobs considered “men’s jobs” I have fought more sexual harassment than most women will ever see. When it happens, you nip it in the bud! I found that pointing and laughing went a long way! A quick punch to the solar plex seemed to be quite effective too. No man will say a word when a woman takes the air out of their lungs and puts them on their knees. I am tired of the crap coming from some of the feminists in this world right now that wait years to say “he said something bad to me” Suck it up cupcakes if you want equality.
Sorry, rant over.
My feeling on these nasty comments is this: The man is dead. Nothing nasty said about him will hurt him. It will only hurt his wife and son. These jerks should have more class.
I found it a little puzzling to hear the comments from people on FOX today who really loved Ailes, women and men that he helped through difficult times in their lives. And, the ones who accused him are the ones I have never had respect for and don’t trust or believe. Hmmm.
And the Commie infested media destroyed him anyway.
Whittaker Chambers’ book, “Witness” came out in the early 50’s, in which he stated that the Soviets had begun targeting media, education, and unelected government positions for infiltration in the 20’s. They were wildly successful and to date have not been routed out, to my knowledge.
I don’t know whether or not Senator McCarthy had read the book and knew why the press was smearing him.
It would be ironic if the left would now acknowledge McCarthy was right, and therefore Trump’s accusers must be right. Insert facebreaking eyeroll here.
I appreciate you posting this, Stella, and warning us about the 3 hour length…
But… the last 10, 20, 30, 40, and more years have provided even more evidence to all with their eyes open; from media to churches to government agencies to academia, they took it all, and it is supremely evident. McCarthy didn’t know the tenth of it. He was right. And they did it.
I don’t think that Trump can reverse or expunge these institutions of Communists (No matter what they call themselves, even “No Labels”. Their actions are their name.).
All we can do is love each other, because that cancer won’t be excised short of Christ’s Return.
Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch was on Lou Dobbs tonight, and said that Pres. Trump needs to do extreme transparency and with the stroke of a pen release all the documents that Judicial Watch has requested and that they are being fought over in court. Lou suggested that they get together and call the White House to suggest it.
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
Darn those statements made under oath under the penalty if surgery. Of course the dems, RINOS, MSM and the various lunatics will say a memo spoken of (as of yet not produced) after a partisan hack has been fired for his incompetence should be given more weight than sworn testimony.

Back to an old post: Jan Sobieski, king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, led an army to Vienna and capped his long fight against the Muslem invading hordes by driving them back into their holes. It was also Polish Pope John Paul who was critical in Polish Solidarnoลฤ cracking the Soviet Union. Of footnote interest the US used Polish Special
Forces to rescue US hostages inside Iraq during Desert Storm. Yeah, you can understand why deeply and heavily Cayholic Poland might not wan’t truckloads of heathen, Catholic and Jew hating Moslems setting up theirs tents. They had enough problems with the Nazis and Communists, no need to reinfect he country.
My niece immigrated to Poland and married a citizen there, has a family. They seem to be a fierce and independent people, and not at all willing to go along with the EU mandates, if what I read from him and his friends are indicative of the population.
Incidentally, when he visited a year ago he fell totally in love with our guns, especially the ARs, and the fact that we could go out into the back pasture (at another neice’s house) and shoot them for hours. When he got back to Poland he proclaimed himself in love with Tennessee and his Facebook profile pic for a long time was a Confederate flag. I’m not really sure why he chose that, we aren’t that big a redneck family. Okay, I guess we are, now that I think about it. Not every family takes their beer, guns, and ammo into the back pasture and shoots for hours, then packs it in so the kids can have donkey rides.
Yee haw, my Polish family, booze, heavy food, guns and explosives…we call that Saturday. I built an AK out of select mint-condition parts I found out of the Radom plant. Sort of Amer-Polish fusion.
Russians were always worried about the reliability of the Poles in the event of a war and, all considered, rightly so. Most European countrys, and Russia, were really anti-Polish as the Poles introduced the first real democracy in northern Europe, made even the royal families that feigned ‘peoples’ rights’ nervous.
– โboth sides should sit down at the same table with no preconditions, and talk.โ
– โThe US will not dictate how you need to live together here. Thatโs something that only you will decideโ.
– โTrump didnโt say settlements are an obstacle to peace. He didnโt say he wants a freeze. He said he wants to come to an understanding with the Israeli government on how the issue will be dealt with.โ
– โIn 2009, Hillary Clinton insisted on a complete freeze of all building in Judea and Samaria, but Abbas still refused to come to the negotiating table. Now, we donโt have any demands that Israel freeze building, and Abbas is interested in meeting Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu without any preconditions.โ
– โI donโt know if Israel will ever have to make concessions. Itโs hard to answer that question right now.โ
Candidate Trump said many of these things during the campaign. Ambassador Friedman is now repeating them on his behalf.
One must conclude that in foreign policy itself, Trump meant what he said and said what he meant.
Exactly. Israel is not our 51st state. And Trump recognizes what I was talking about yesterday — every nation — Japan, Israel, Zimbabwe, Norway — has the right of self-determination. That’s what makes them nations and not vassals of the World Government that still hasn’t fully popped out of the putrescent womb wherein it gestates. (Sorry for the analogy, I’ve had a couple, and that’s the best way I could put it.)
I still don’t know what to make of his chess game regarding the Islamic NATO he’s backing. It doesn’t make sense to unify them even further, does it? And if so, how? So we could finally declare war against that one resultant entity?
If you need something more to be furious about, two health nut jobs starved their baby to death and it looks like their sentence is going to be 18 months.
How can anyone watch their baby starve to death before their very eyes and be so blinded by their “lifestyle” that their baby dies with an empty stomach? Everything I’ve every read tells me starvation and dehydration is a terribly way to die.
No brick throwing for me. But I am pro death penalty. 18 months ? Good grief.
There’s also, most likely, a thousand other horrible things that happened to children in America (and everywhere else), on that same day, and that it’s not good for us to get enraged.
I was enraged when Terry Schaivo was starved to death. Literally throwing things and screaming at people.
That’s all I’m saying. Rage isn’t, as far as I know, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I think we are probably use the word furious differently. It does make me furious, it should make any sane person furious that an self interested couple starved their baby to death. Furious doesn’t mean I’m raging (just looked up the definition and it is a sloppy use of the word on my part).
I agree that there are a thousand crimes committed against children eery day.
I believe faith without works is a dead faith so I channel my energy by doing what I can for the most vulnerable in our society.
David said in one or more of his Psalms, I think in 150, especially, to essentially play your instruments with great skill. Megadeth does that. You may not like what they do, sonically, but what they do is as complex and phenomenal as any classical or rock or country or klezmer or polka.
I just remembered Megadeth, and their Christian conversion, and remembered that I don’t really like Thrash Metal, but when I listen to it now, I hear the complexity and it is as Rachmaninoff. That amazing in skill. Steve Vai good.
I don’t get furious any more. Shrug. This is how it is.
You CTH Treepers? You been a cop? You’ve lived a life?
You’ve seen a lot of heinous things. Read a lot of heinous autopsies.
Anger is bad. I used to be full of it. I channel my energy and thoughts in other directions, while remaining cognizant of the true true. Like the Knoxville Horror, like Zimmerman v. Martin, like Carefully-Programmed Mike Brown v. Occifer Wilson. Not to mention the hundreds of Bonhoffer pictures I’ve had the displeasure to see, but did because I thought I should. I bet there’s a Chinese Bonhoffer. And a Cambodian one.
When I read a heinous story I don’t get furious. Jaded? Probably.
The Media, such as is, wants you to get angry. With almost every story.
No television for 17 years now. No radio. Pandora, NetFilx and YouTube. I pick what I listen to, or watch. Not into being spoon-fed.
Every story on local and national news is carefully designed to make you to be angry, sad, upset, angry, dissatisfied, and angry. Most of the commercials do, too.
McCarthy was right. They succeeded by defeating him.
I agree. Sickening, infuriating, disgusting a precious baby starved to death. 7 months old 9.4 pounds, he probably lived his entire life in agony so the his parents could hold their noses in the air and say “We know better, we are better.” One very small solace is that prison food is almost all starches. Sickening.
I”m getting this up post-date, and I apologize for spacing out actually posting the list. For posterity (and because I already did the harder part) I’m putting it up late.

Statement from Elizabeth Ailes:
I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning. Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to riseโand to give back. During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life…

How the Military Helmet Evolved From a Hazard to a Bullet Shield
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian-institution/how-military-helmet-evolved-hazard-bullet-shield-180963319/

McCain was a member of the US Navy too….I don’t like folks that are military screw ups like McCain….I wonder why we think that everyone IN the military actually SERVED the nation instead of just sucked off the taxpayers and got a free college education like he did because his daddy was an Admiral.

The Anonymous Sources of Washington Post and CNN Fake News
(by Daniel Greenfield)
http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/266714/anonymous-sources-washington-post-and-cnn-fake-daniel-greenfield
Media fake news is everywhere.
And his dog. …

Greenfield is always good, but sometimes I miss his gems. Front Page Mag isn’t on my daily trail, but should be.

One must conclude that in foreign policy itself, Trump meant what he said and said what he meant.
http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/05/trumps_plan_to_defeat_radical_islam.html

There’s also, most likely, a thousand other horrible things that happened to children in America (and everywhere else), on that same day, and that it’s not good for us to get enraged.
I was enraged when Terry Schaivo was starved to death. Literally throwing things and screaming at people.
That’s all I’m saying. Rage isn’t, as far as I know, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
