Back during Desert Shield when we were pushing hindreds of troops thru Meade it was a mess. The mobilization facility would be stavked with backed up soldiers trying to work their ways thru everything from records reviews to immunizations. One problem with their records and they’re shunted off to yet another line and most of them had to receive an unholy number of immunizations, including the dreaded gamma globulin, all at one time as they went down the medical line. It sucked for all of us.
The manager of a local Hardee’s heard about it and from just the second day of the process thru the almost two weeks they were being pushed thru he had his restaurant making and bringing to the facility fresh biscuits with packaged jam and butter and dispensers full of fresh, hot coffee. The biscuits and coffee were there as long as the troops were and if we ran short the guy/gal he left there would call and – poof – new dtuff would appear.
He apparently did this on his own as, as soon as we could, the head civilian, a colonel and I wrote to Hardee’s corporate to thank them. We received a reply that they were unaware, thry didn’t authorize it and the restaurant manager didn’t tell them or take any credit. They were immensely happy at his initiative and his contribution to the troops morale under the trying circumstances and would recognize his contributions accordingly.
I got no problems with Hardee’s.

Unless you were there there’s no way to explain whst a rat**** that was, it was onevof the most miserable military things I’d ever participated in where someone wasn’t shooting at me. To have that manager do something like that just made the entire process so much easier on all concerned there’s no way I could thank that guy enough so I share the story where and when I can.

We got a Reserve PsyOps unit in and, if you remember, just before DS PsyOps was transferred to Socom. Well the PsyOps brass were very unhappy at being processed at Meade as they ‘special.operations’ and wanted to be processed at Bragg. They complained so loudly that the Meade brass finally said ‘to hell with it’, loaded them on busses and shipped them to Bragg.
Thing was that the processing at Meade was rather leisurely, primarily interested in making sure each soldier’s admin and med were correct, they were appropriately briefed and brought up to par on basic soldier skills. I guess they thought Bragg was going to be the same.
After a few days of being rousted at oh-dark-thirty, real Fort Bragg PT in the early AM and a scheduled real ‘out in the woods for days’ field exercise the busses came back. If you’re a fulltime other-than-military type you should consider asking to be processed through Ft Bragg as you just might get your wish.

Holy Thursday reflection from Bishop Barron.

Friends, today in the Gospel Jesus declared that he fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.”

Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of God. The deaf hear, the blind see, the lame walk. The dead are raised to life, enemies are forgiven, and the poor have the good news preached to them. And ultimately in his resurrection, Jesus’ followers saw that the old world—the world predicated upon death and the works of death, the world that had done Jesus in—was now defeated. God had definitively declared his opposition to that world and his support of the new one.

So awed were they by the resurrection—and you can sense it in every book and letter of the New Testament—that they awaited the imminent arrival of the new state of affairs, the return of Jesus and the establishment of God’s kingdom. Though Jesus did not immediately return, the old world was over and broken. It was fully compromised, and its destruction is now just a matter of time.

I saw the press conference this morning with the lawyer of the man who was drug off United Airlines. I liked the lawyer immensely. He seemed pretty open and straightforward but took no carp off the reporters. Boy, from the sound of it, United Airlines is in deep doodoo. The lawyer has been diagnosed with a concussion, two lost teeth and other injuries. I heard somebody make a snarky remark “of course he is”, on FOX yesterday when he was told the doc was still in the hospital. It seems that he actually has some real injuries.

Three airport police officers have been put on leave. Soon after the incident the spokesperson for the airport said they’d reviewed the incident and that the officers involved had been following protocol.

That makes the case for including the airport as a potential respondant to a suit, I would think. This is going to be a very interesting case to follow.

Definitely. The lawyer was VERY firm, too, on the reporter’s questions about the doctor’s past. He said it had absolutely no bearing on this situation. Somebody asked the doc’s daughter her age. She said she didn’t know what bearing that had on anything, but she was 33. Stupid reporters.

I’m betting this is going to be a huge settlement without going to court. The CEO of United said in a televised interview that the passenger was not at fault at all.

Where the battle will rage is what Patternpuzzler said below The Chicago PD airport officers, as in the City of Chicago, against United Airlines as to their percentage of liability in the settlement. United has more at stake as they are the company in the crosshairs of the publicity nightmare. Chicago has deeper pockets but no one is going to be moved to boycott of Chicago in any significant manner.

    Some Candidate Donald Trump quotes;

Donald Trump “I would bomb the sh*t out them. I would just bomb those suckers, and that’s right I’d blow up the pipes, I’d blow up their refineries, I’d blow up every single inch there would be nothing left.”

“I would do things that would be so tough that I don’t even know if they’d be around to come to the table. … I would bomb the hell out of those oil fields [in Iraq]. I wouldn’t send many troops, because you won’t need them by the time I got finished.” Trump on his strategy for dealing with ISIS, in a July 8 interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

Trump said of ISIS in the same interview,“This is a war. They don’t wear uniforms. He added that the “cancer” of terrorism needs to be stopped before it “festers and festers and only gets worse.
Trump said in a phone interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

“I would knock out the source of their wealth, the primary source of their wealth, which is oil,” Donald Trump told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Aug. 10. “I would knock the hell out of them, but I’d put a ring around it and I’d take the oil for our country.”

“ISIS is tremendously rich. They’re rich, you know why? Because of the oil, they have the oil. That’s why they’re rich… They’re building a hotel in Syria. Can you believe ISIS is building a hotel? They’re in competition with me now. They’re building a hotel – they have so much money. You bomb the hell out of the oil. Don’t worry about the cities, the cities are terrible that they took over…  And you kill them at the head.” Trump’s remarks on how he would defeat the Islamic State in an interview with Sean Hannity on FOX News on June 18.

Yet still the MSM just keeps saying that President Trump is not doing what candidate Trump said he would do when it comes to ISIS. Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do silly rabbits.

I need to find my bomb the hell out of ISIS T-shirt.

Time for some corrections! Chicago Tribune fact-checks costs of Trump travel; CNN hardest hit

    http://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2017/04/13/time-for-some-corrections-chicago-tribune-fact-checks-costs-of-trump-travel-cnn-hardest-hit/

I knew their estimates were wrong!

I also did some loose calculations on costs for Air Force One to travel to and from Hawaii. There is no way that Obamas only spend 97 million on travel, especially when you consider the times that Michelle traveled on a separate plane to the same destination, and the times she took independent trips – to Africa, China, Spain, and London, just to mention four. Then there were her annual trips to Aspen.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.

The latest news is that a letter that claims to be from Joseph Jakubowski was received by a local business and he threatened to attack church goers in Waukesha County on Easter Sunday. Specifically he threatened Sussex churches. Sussex is the town just north of me.

The news 🙄 did an interview with a pastor and forgive me but what an ass. The pastor said that violence can happen any time not just Holy Week so we will be watchful but “meh” just go on as usual.

    Good grief.

I imagine more people than ever will be conceal carrying in church this Sunday. Personally I think that every church should have two people open carrying at every entrance. I may ask my priest if he is open to the idea but he is a capital L Liberal so I doubt that he would allow it.
