I wonder if the New Orleans City Council will review the mayor and MOPD Chief’s policy that made Bew Orleans a sanctuary city and that NOPD cannot check a person’s immigration stayus except in very, very,VERY strict and limited conditions. Ditto for working with Immigration.
In light of the illegal Honduran immigrant who killed two and injured over 40 others when he caused an accident on the interstate, the few conservstive (i.e. not Rats) Councilpersons are starting to squeak. As the Rat political infrastructure, surprisingly even the black Rat Pols, are backing the sanctuary movement in their planning on crushing los gringo honky politicsl strength. Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen down the road when la serpiente politica they invite in gets uppity enough to bite ’em in the ass.
Actually that’s the people’s job. They should realize that some pissant mayor is blatantly violating a Federal law and exposing them to dangers. If the people don’t exercise their control over their servants the servant just go wild. I tried to interest an attorney in poking the Feds to look at a grand jury to see if the mayor voluntarily violated Federal laws but no one wanted to touch that 3rd rail.
In this city’s case it’s motto ‘the city that care forgot’ tells it. Corruption by oligarch pols is as ingrained as mildew, it’s become a norm. For most folks as long as they get three hots and a cot, along with lots of booze-filled fests/parties it’s all OK.
Reminded me, finally, of a Vietnamese resturant in NOLA we ate at for about 30 years. When we first found it the store was basically for the Vietnamese community. The menu was written in Vietnamese on slates around the walls and precious few waitstaff spoke English. The menu had such footnotes as ‘extra fat, extra gristle 50-cents extra’. The place had the best plastic chopsticks, they were magic but somewhere around the early 90s the health department made them go to the wooden disposable as they couldn’t guarantee their sanitation even in a commercial washing machine. I tend to believe that someone in the Parish health department had a family member who had an oriental food supply business.
We went as far as whittling on the disposable ones but nothing made it the way those old ones did, we ended up buying about three different styles each from a Korean supply store online and carrying them with us. Talk about pretentious, but we never had a problem with the icky disposable wooden ones again.
Over the years the clientele changed after the old Vietnamese community aged. The resturant no longer opened early on Sunday as the older Vietnamese who’d meet there for lunch after church started to die off. By the time they closed (their location was bought up for a yuppie mart) and moved downtown by the new hospital complex it had become a part of the local surburban eaterie, it had even been featured on the Food Network. Now we have portion control, no more ‘extra fat, extra gristle’, and the son of the original owner’s running it. Times change, things move on…but they still have those crappy chopsticks.
If I’d have violated one of those in my old job I’d still be in jail. Then again I was doing the job while Bill was shredding US security regulations regarding handling and dissemination of classified information. As Hank would say: “It’s a famleeeeee tradition.”.
That’s right. I was at the dentist 2 days ago. He’s in his 60’s. He came in and said “have you got any plans for Labor Day?” I guess I must have been just looking at him, while my mind was processing…”Labor Day? Oh, right, it must be soon.” Finally I said “Umm, not really” and he replied “somehow I thought you would answer that way.” It wasn’t until the next day that I realized Labor Day was this coming Monday. How things change! I remember when every Labor Day was a treat to be anticipated.
I was taught to bake by an old farm lady. She was a wonderful teacher, and her kindness and wisdom have been lasting gifts in my life. And, yes, she passed on her love of cooking to me as well. So here’s to farm women, young and old!
My mother’s mother was a Tennessee hillbilly farm woman and man, could she bake! Always made biscuits and pie crusts with lard, never butter. Kept a five gallon bucket of it in the cupboard. She passed a few years ago, at 95. I miss her a lot.
Don’t sweat it, do it. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be all that you expect it makes a great vehicle for ice cream. Ice cream covers any number of mistakes.
Great find Impeach, this is why I can’t wait for the debates!!!! Trump, must dominate Hilllabeast, but be respectable, just show her no mercy.Un Sheath the Sword, and bring down the wrath of the Lord upon her…….and She will do this to him……..
Bill was then, as he remains today, a lying sack of you-know-what. He helped work a section into the 1995 Commerce, Justice, State Appropriations Act that gave nearly 600,000 illegals amnesty, the NACARA Act that gave 1-million illegals amnesty,
…Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act that gave nearly 200,000 illegal Haitians amnesty, and in 2000 in two seperate actions another almost 500,000 illegals got a free pass. Let’s also not forget the complicity of thecRepublicans in Congress in granting an unending free lunch tonthese cultural termites.

Holy Cow! I was just going comment that Navy is playing their first game today. I am all excited about it. And, the kickoff by Navy, fumble by Fordham, and Navy’s got the ball and………..a touchdown………..in the first few seconds of the game. π―
Okay, this is interesting. The new quarterback got hurt early in the game, so they put in the backup. They don’t have a backup on the field for the backup QB. They had to go into the stands and get the plebe QB backup and have him suit up. Really weird…….even weirder, they just interviewed Coach Niumatalolo and asked him about it, and he didn’t know anything about it. LOL
The plebe that Navy pulled out of the stands is now playing QB on the field. π― I missed what happened to the other QB. Lucky that Navy is 49 and Fordham is 13 in the 4th qtr.
He did. They must have seen something in him to have pulled him out of the stands like that. There were others who were listed as QB’s on the roster. I think it is pretty amazing that he wasn’t even expecting to play and went out of the field like that and seemed to be so composed.
This was my favorite playground equipment as a child. Swings and whirly things made me sick π
I remember most of my friends loving this. My sister tried to jump on one like this while it was moving, got knocked to the ground and ended up with one side of her face scraped from the bottom of the twirler. She rinsed her face off in a water fountain and we continued to play.
One of the stats that WordPress provides is some of the search terms people use to arrive here. Today there is one – “mini bulaΕΔ±k makinesi”, which apparently is Turkish for dishwasher. Did I ever blog about dishwashers?
Probably a image filename or URL linked from a breakfast or cartoon comment. One of your saved pictures did that last year for some odd combo as I recall.

The plebe that Navy pulled out of the stands is now playing QB on the field. π― I missed what happened to the other QB. Lucky that Navy is 49 and Fordham is 13 in the 4th qtr.

Final 52 Navy/ 16 Fordham Great game, though. They really fought hard.

He did. They must have seen something in him to have pulled him out of the stands like that. There were others who were listed as QB’s on the roster. I think it is pretty amazing that he wasn’t even expecting to play and went out of the field like that and seemed to be so composed.

Can you imagine? Tweet said it was a playground in the early 1900’s.

We had a slide at our local park that was as high as the ladder in the playground picture. I wonder what the playground is like now.

Back when little boys grew up to be men. Well, at least the ones who survived.

I still have a scar on my forehead from being hit with a swing.

All the pipes were rusty and any falls were softened by broken glass.

One of the stats that WordPress provides is some of the search terms people use to arrive here. Today there is one – “mini bulaΕΔ±k makinesi”, which apparently is Turkish for dishwasher. Did I ever blog about dishwashers?

‘Wooly’, I’d like to see the logic that led to that autocomplete…

As good a guess as any, czar, but I’m sure that nobody here has been speaking Turk.

Think they might have searched on ‘Gooble.com’?

A few of us chatted about whether we had or used dishwashers if I remember correctly. I was in the no dishwasher crowd.

That’s true, and Wooly is or has been a dishwasher by trade. However, I didn’t know that Turkish translations come into play.

Tried to post this earlier, don.’t know why it didn’t, must have been goobled up.

Probably a image filename or URL linked from a breakfast or cartoon comment. One of your saved pictures did that last year for some odd combo as I recall.
