Y’all remember the Cajun Navy, the private boaters who rushed to the Louisiana flooding and saved people, pets and property before any government ‘rescuers’ could arrive? Well, state and Federal political pukes are calling for strict regulations on them. Training, licensing, equipment standards, all sorts of bureaucratic control designed to punish rescuers who donated their own time, equipment and supplies to rescue people in need while the various goverment agencies charged with helping them were still trying to pull their thumbs out of their nether drain portals.

This is purely a political move to punish people who did what the responsible government agencies were to bolluxed-up to do, None of the rescued/aided people want it, just some pissant bureaucrats.

No good deed goes unpunished nor unknown to the PTB who will feel like they are either being made to look bad an/or missing out on a dime and will thereby try to regulate innocent people to death rather than accept non government intervention as a good thing.

Worst part was that even when the Navy i itially started to arrive they followed authorities orders and assembled, awaiting permissions and rescue assignments from the authorities. Authorities were taking rescue assignments from control center(s) which in turn received calls from 911 operayors. Problem was that a lot of folks landlines were flooded, phone circuits/911 lines were jammed and with street signs down or foooded it was almost impossible to get rescuers not familiar with the area to Rescuees even if a call could make it thru thecrat’s nest.
Rescuers were going out and just following streets, just looking, and picking up a lot of folks who were waiting for the bureaucratic wheels of government to turn or folks who didn’t have an operating phone. In some cases stranded folks were reported on social media and their locatiobs passed to Navy folk…the bureaucrats will incorporate social media into their next disaster response.
This was a Katrina a redux, private citizens bringing rescue equipment the government rescuers ‘forgot’ to provide and the government refusing to allow them to rescue the citizens the government has left bobbing in the water. We hear the flood was unprecedented, historical, unforeseeable, which is usually bureaucrat-speak for ‘usual sh** poor planning’. They’ll factor this into their next plan, they’ll be better prepared and blah blah blah…and we’ll deflect like mad in the meantime.

New Orleans mayor Landrieu, presumptive Senate candidatecat some point, gotta be a real pirce of work.
The city’s awash in gunnnnn violennnnnnnnccceeeee, the overwhelming majority of it perpetrated by black residents. Think the city’s new anti-gun violence’ law addresses thecroot issues? Think sgain.
A new package of laws is on the table. One would make it illegal for those convicted of donestic violence from possessing a firearm, another would make it illegal for anyone to possess a firearm with an obliterated or otherwise altered serial number and making ‘negligent’ carrying of a concealed/open firearm. Those of you who are observant will note that the first ones already Federal laws while also all three are already state laws. Now why, other than blowing smoke up the scared public’s butts, would pols suggest passing local laws identical to the Federal and state laws they don’t enforce now? God help us all.
