Next door more than a few are very disappointed with Pence as VP. Don’t know a lot about him but perhaps this is Trump’s attempt to unify the party?

    IMO these are Pence’s 2 biggest strikes;

Mike Pence, December 2015 ”Calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.A. is offensive and unconstitutional.”

    Pence supported TPP.

The first is easily put behind him. The second IMO is an uglier problem.

I believe what Pence does is shore up the Romney/Bush/Cruz/Rubio republicans. Trump supporters who believe that Trump has the best chance at righting the ship aren’t going anywhere. So Pence is a very strategic choice.

Bernie supporters who are now on the Trump train due to Bernie betraying them are simply too stupid for Pence to play any role in their vote.

So all in all once again it looks like Trump knows what he is doing.

Look for a few days of hysteria about Pence’s ties to big tobacco.

I would suspect and hope that Trump told him he was going to get on the wagon and say he made a mistake and is now fully behind Trump and America’s agenda.

That is my hope also. I can’t imagine that Trump would choose a running mate who is opposed to Trump’s fundamental platform. I don’t know a lot about Pence but in IMO he is weak on standing unabashedly against Islam. But almost all politicians are.

Reading that Pence has a record of being weak on amnesty also. Time to learn more.

      “Pence supported TPP”
As pointed out next door, it’s hard to find a republican that didn’t at one time.

“Look for a few days of hysteria about Pence’s ties to big tobacco”
This doesn’t bother me in the least. If he was tied to the progressive/left solar or some other government grant sucking enterprise, it would. Tobacco? Nope.

The tobacco money doesn’t bother me at all either. Pence message was basically, “Smoking is bad for you. It is none of the governments business whether or not you smoke. ” It will be twisted into something else.

As to, it being hard to find a republican who didn’t support TPP I agree. That IMO is not the problem the talking points will be that Trump is a hypocrite, blah, blah, blah. It will be ugly for a bit about the TPP issue in particular among some Trump fans and of course the MSM.

I tend to agree with what SD posted next door:

Legislative guide.√ Boring.√ Bridge to DC.√ Bland.√ Gets RNC to Shut Up.√ Donors.√ Shuts up annoying conservatives types.√ Milquetoast.√ PR Role.√ Ward Cleaver.√ Do all the fundraisers.√ Uninspiring.√ Comfort Food.√ Gnat attractor.√ Answer Door.√ Answer Phone.√ Deal with the annoying irrelevant crap.√ Willing to dress up like Easter Bunny.√ Professional greeter.√ Enables space for bigger scary people to do the real work.√

The VP rarely has anything to do with legislation or Presidential policy.

I was just going to copy/paste that when I saw your post. I agree, too. Twitter has calmed down and after the convention it will be business as usual with a focus of crushing Hillary Clinton into irrelevance forever.

Haven’t been next door today, but I do tend to agree that the VP is generally of little importance.

You do not get to be a billionaire 10 times over by making dumb decisions. So, I just let Mr. Trump continue make decisions that he has reasoned to be the best.
And I will put away my “Honkie for Herman” posters again and start cheering for TRUMP/ PENCE.

I have always had a good opinion of Mike Pence [I think I would have preferred Sessions, but I know there are good reasons for EVERYTHING Mr. Trump does].

Pence has made some regretful decisions/choices issues-wise, but seemed to learn from them, and self-correct. I just received a very informative email from NumbersUSA, which lays out good, solid positives re: his stance on immigration issues. It’s long–I hesitate to post without getting Stella’s permission. However, I will try to find a link.

Here’s something to go on for now, though:
