Donald Trump on Thursday reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and sets the stage for a bitter fall campaign.
Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party’s unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the convention. Among them is Oklahoma GOP Chairwoman Pam Pollard.
“I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn’t like where our country is,” Pollard said. “I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump.”
It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president. Trump has reached 1,238, according to the AP count. With 303 delegates at stake in five state primaries, including California, on June 7, Trump will easily pad his total, avoiding a contested convention in Cleveland in July.
We have been confident for some time that this would be the outcome, but it is reassuring to see such a strong finish for this candidate. Even if the goofy Washington state delegates refuse to vote for Trump, he would still win with a comfortable margin.
This is a movement! This is a mandate!

My bad, the GOP considers themselves kings not princes.

I should have said that he’s the actor who plays Bonnie Prince Charlie in “Outlanders”.

Did you know that the real Prince Charlie escaped from Scotland dressed as a girl?

A patriotic Scotswoman, Flora MacDonald, smuggled him out as her maid.

ZurichMike, Mr. Cautious, will refrain from dancing for two reasons: (1) I’ll believe it when the votes are cast at the convention, and (2) if I dance, I will injure myself and probably fall over and break the furniture.

I worked on Scott Walkers recall election. It was a fight against all of the powerful unions, all of the DNC, Soros, the unkempt savage feces throwing minions and so on.
We were told again and again it was going to be close, we didn’t know if we could overcome the fraud that was bound to be going on.
Very quickly, maybe 30 minutes after the polls closed Walker was the predicted winner. I was at the victory party with a several hundred other people. When the victory came up on the screen, we all just stood there in disbelief, we all checked our phones, literally no cheer, no celebration, we really couldn’t believe the it happened.
Then we looked at the press and we saw their faces and the whole place erupted cheers!!
This is that moment.
They can not steal it now. The general maybe, Romney screwing Trump and running as a third party maybe, but right now victory is ours, happy, happy dance!
PS You are so detail oriented are you a Patent Attorney by any chance? No need to answer if you’d rather not say.

Considering that Trump WILL take New Jersey (total 51 delegates) and a good chunk of California delegates (total 172), plus some delegates in New Mexico, he will have a big safety margin.
