Arches may be the most beautiful place I have been. I visited all the parks in Utah, but liked this one the best.

When we lived there my favorite was Christmas Meadows up in the Uintas. We spent a lot of time in the 4-corners area with the anthro department of the college and BYU (not fun people) and hit the parks but what I mostly miss is the high mountain areas, Christmas Meadows especially.

“All these newspapers used to have foreign bureaus. Now they don’t. They call us to explain to them what’s happening in Moscow and Cairo. Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.”

This is why all the news from Ukraine in the Western media was one story line, but all the on the ground reports from people living there were completely different.

    The great Iggy:
“–There have only been two occasions where the more disliked person lost: In 1992 and 2000. George H. W. Bush had higher strong unfavorable ratings but lost to Bill Clinton and Al Gore had higher strong unfavorable than George W. Bush but lost.–”

It should be noted that in both those cases the losers were attempting to extend either a 12 or 8 year long stay in the WH.
So Hillary has a double whammy going on.

The most strongly disliked person being elected makes sense if you stop and think about it.
Fear is the greatest motivator and who is feared and disliked more than the guy perceived to be the largest threat to your issues?
The lack of strong dislike should be a bit of a red flag that your candidate is neither a threat to your opponents nor likely to fight.
Get worried when Hillary’s “strongly dislike” numbers start exceeding Trumps.

Jeb Bush broke his pledge to support the Republican nominee.

    https://newrepublic.com/minutes/133357/jeb-bush-broke-pledge-support-republican-nominee

The pledge, of course, was designed to keep Trump from bolting the GOP and launching a third-party bid, which the RNC feared would scuttle the GOP’s chances of winning the general election. So far, no one seems too concerned that a Bush/Graham third-party ticket could do the same.

Here Comes Ted Cruz’s Third-Party Candidacy

    https://www.currentaffairs.org/2016/04/here-comes-ted-cruzs-third-party-candidacy

So why has Cruz just unveiled a new logo and announced a running mate? Pundits have professed themselves baffled; after all, even if Fiorina could pick off some female Republicans here and there, and help somewhat with California, the dynamics of the race will remain fundamentally unchanged. The consensus seems to be that this is an act of desperation by Cruz, a Hail Mary pass with zero chance of success. Jim Newell of Slate confidently announced that he expects “pulling a Cruz” to become a synonym for delusional political gambles. After all, Newell says, this move is “unfathomable.” ….

From Cruz’s perspective, there is no downside whatsoever to continuing to run even after losing the Republican nomination. Bear in mind what the alternative for Cruz is here: to sacrifice the spotlight, to gracefully cede the race and watch Clinton/Trump from the sidelines. To go away quietly. Does this fit with his character? Why would he do it, anyway? Why wouldn’t he run as an independent? If all goes well, a new conservative movement will rise from the ashes of the Republican Party, with Ted Cruz as its head. As the party itself falls apart, Cruz will establish himself as the de facto national spokesman American conservatism. Given the option to either do that or withdraw, who would withdraw?

With some appealing potential advantages, and zero real disadvantages, the choice seems clear, and announcing Fiorina suddenly makes perfect sense. Ted Cruz may be running in the general election, nomination or not.

Yeah, I was wondering if this was going to be the next phase of the splitter strategy. Now we will see 20 independent campaigns from the people who “suspended” their party campaigns.

      My 2 cents 🙂

I don’t think we are going to see a third party run from any of the “16” losers, they would have to find backers who are willing to throw millions of dollars into a pit, toss gasoline on it and light a match, and all of that effort would only further damage the RNC’s chances of recovering from the Trump insurgency. The folks that are billionaires generally didn’t get there by being so foolhardy with their money.

there are also I believe 2 states it is too late to get on the ballot in, one of them being Texas, but that is from memory which my be sketchy.

We were given a peek into the Ryan/Reince game plan and Trump has already given a nod that he will play ball. The despicable Ryan has said that his main moral (ack) problem with Trump is that Ryan is just weak in the knees over the idea that Trump will not respect the separation of powers. (Vomit tray needed for Ryan’s hypocrisy). Anyhow Trump just said in the last couple of days that he hoped to work with Congress because he would like to not have to use the executive action option.

Really IMO it’s like watching the scene from the Godfather when the judge is holding up his fingers to indicate how much money it will take to buy a pardon and the attorney makes a counter offer with his own fingers.

Keep in mind how many times Trump has said, “I have a letter from so and so, I remember him he came to my office, here is LG phone #, Walker? Walker gave me a plaque 🙄, I know these people ” this is not lost on the scoundrels. There is a reason that Trump is still standing even though he has made such powerful very ruthless enemies over the last few month.

Heck, I even chuckle when I think about Katrina being on the Enquirer’s list of Cruz’s conquests, can you imagine if that is true and Cruz and Trump have both known the truth since the day Trump made her his spokeswoman?

We, I suspect, have no idea how over the barrel Trump has the filth who have held our country hostage for so long.

      The game is afoot.

Just thinkin’ about my teen years, and the teens now…I was just a beach guy. Drafted right out of high school. I remember we did not care much about the war in Nam. But we just accepted that we might have to go in the Army and go over there and fight. Some of us enlisted. Not too many. I just wanted to go surfin’. We all had to go on a bus and get inspected in Jacksonville to get classified. I got 1A. But then they had lottery for your birthday and I got 332. I was glad. It was luck of the draw. I really think I would not be so forthright to go do a stupid, even more PC war in the ME. I never could understand back then how come we did not just nuke em.
