Speaking of missing lynx, where’s ZM? He get called up and is parked in an edelweiss patch on some lonely pass, nursing a Leopard 2?

I believe he’s on vacation–anyway, some sort of trip. Somewhere. For some amount of time.

Don’t bet on it but the first thing that came to mind was a cannelloni sampler platter and a nice bottle of 15 to 20 year old Barolo. Czarina prefers Florence but then I suspect she was a Medici in her previous life…not doing too bad in this one either. Enjoy Italy before it becomes part of the ummah.

Indeed, near Otranto, where the basilica has the bones of 800 martyred Christians under glass in a side chapel who were beheaded by the invading Sultan in the late 15th century for failing to convert to Islam, we saw the Italian military moving tanks southward — not sure, but perhaps as a show of force as Europe is expecting another wave of refugees/entitlement seekers.

That’s the issue, a show of force vice a use of force. Moslems know that the Europeans tend to bluster and fluff up their feathers but when push comes to shove ‘fold’ is all too often their course of inaction.

Agree. I have to admit it was a bit unnerving to be on a small country road enjoying the views when all of a sudden a tank came barreling down from the other direction, escorted by two trucks of soldiers. However, as close as the “heel” of Italy is to the Balkans, there are virtually no refugees to be seen anywhere — I think it’s just as poor here for the average Italian citizen as it is for the average “refugee”.

Barolo? Wrong part of Italy. We are pooooooooor southerners and can only get primitivo red wines but some lovely crisp white wines, too.

We are on vacation in southern Italy. While walking along a very small harbor with very tidy and colorful fishing boats, we saw a cat with something black in its mouth. We both thought “Wow, what a big rat it caught!”. The cat jumped into one of the boats, ducked under the back seat, and the jumped out of the boat and raced across the street. Two minutes later it returned — not with a rat — but with *another* kitten! The momma cat was moving her litter of kittens from an apparently dangerous area to what she saw as more comfortable and safe. We watched over 15 minutes — she moved 5 kittens (we didn’t see here earlier, so there might be more). Just wait until the fisherman is out setting nets and all of sudden is surrounded by 5 mewling kittens!

Received one of myvregular emails from Purina with the header: “Shower With Your Cat”. Aside from the strangeness of the suggestion one wonders if Purina didn’t take over part ownership f Johnson & Johnson and is ginning up business. I couldn’t open the msg but the Russian Blue said she wouldn’t have that problem with me if I tried that.
