Just goes to show ya. Closed primary’s the ticket. Not open, not ca-cas. I’ve been griping about open primaries for at least 30 years….. and of course with the GPOe nothing changes. Ever.

Trump now has 5 of 8 needed Rule 40(b) states. Cruz has 3. Trump leads in delegates. Cruz successful in caucus states (odd rules, distant caucus locations, easy to corrupt) and other than Texas, which he won with the lowest margin of any Texas GOP presidential candidate in history, he has a very narrow appeal to states with weird rules — most of which we’ve gone through. Trump won key GOPe states — Mitch McConnell’s Kentuky and Bobby Jindal’s Louisiana — even McConnell’s county was a win for Trump! I went to bed depressed (post-wine after dinner and suseptible to psy-ops from media) but am actually quite pleased with yesterday’s results. Marco Rubio is now 1 for 19 wins, with no path forward and no Rule 40(b) states. Unlikely that he will hold Florida. GOPe must be in a tailspin at the moment.

When is Kasich going to get out? He has 34 delegates, and has won no states.

After Super Tuesday, I would guess. I think Ohio and Florida are the do-or-die states for Kasich and Rubio respectively. I don’t think the GOPe would truly embrace Cruz as its errand boy.

I think they will temporarily embrace Cruz, and he’ll probably go along with it. They have a common goal, after all, and if he did well enough they might not be able to brush him aside at the convention.

It just occurred to me that if the establishment backs Cruz, and there is no clear winner at the convention, they could scuttle Cruz based on a question of his “natural born citizen” status.

They WILL do that. They’ll let him tote the load the whole way to the convention, then stab him in the back when he gets there. And, Voila!! Mittens and Ryan emerge from the convention and nobody ever votes rep. again.
