Laugh for the day: Humans could evolve webbed feet if sea levels rise, scientist claims

No, it isn’t The Onion.  Apparently, this is supposed to be straight news. Because “Climate Change”, of course!

THE TELEGRAPH

The perils of climate change are well known, but rising sea levels could also alter human evolution, scientists have claimed.
Rising sea levels could force communities to live in underwater or semi-aquatic towns which could change out physiology.
Dr Matthew Skinner, a paleoanthropologist from the University of Kent, claims that humans could evolve to have webbed hands and feet and less body hair so they could move quickly through the water.

Our eyes would even become more like cats, so we could see in the murky gloom of seas and rivers and our lungs would shrink as we became used to using artificial tanks to breathe underwater.
“Regular underwater foraging would lead to the evolution of longer fingers and toes which would then likely develop ‘webbed’ interconnecting skin to enable easier swimming,” said Dr Skinner.

Dr. Skinner also has an idea how humans would evolve living on another planet, or during an Ice Age. This is a very long, detailed article.

They have stopped even pretending to think. Not even their (cough) scientists.

If things got that bad, didn’t the “scientist” imagine that humans would build some sort of floating city? What a dope.

I don’t know about that Stella some of these humans will just drown.

Prime example is one of the many who were flooded and had to call for help. They had a pontoon boat and canoe sitting in their yard. I might not be a rocket scientist but I think even I am smart enough to plan ahead if I’m going to brave the rising water to tie my boat up to the porch and hop in it if the water gets that high. I laughed until I cried when I saw the pictures of the boat and the canoe within feet of the boat coming to rescue them.

Not to keep beating a dead horse or anything, but when I was reading a lot of books and newspapers from the 18th century they made it clear much of the scientific revolution had been presented as proof of there being no God. I think all the save the planet from humans stuff today is just progression of the continuing attempt to destroy Christianity/morals/Western civilization.

You know I had a nice smart ass reply about the folly of first hand knowledge but I deleted it because I am afraid that I might get myself rolling. I’ll say with all sincerity I am always happy to see your well thought out, knowledgeable posts that you derive from first hand sources.

          Enough said 🙊

lovely, do you mean that your reply–which you didn’t reveal–doesn’t contain anything of value about “first hand knowledge” or you meant only that it didn’t have the proper tone?

I’d like to be educated about this “folly”. If you were only taking a swipe at nyetneetot, then I retract my question and I don’t expect a reply.

              Hi scherado, welcome 🙂

No I would never take a swipe at Nyet I think he is brilliant and a wonderful poster. I was complimenting him for his diligent research and willingness to go to the source or as close as one can get to the original source for his knowledge and to help him form his opinions.

My retracted reply was in reference to posters who run around like a chickens without heads after a humorous game of posting telephone and then quote someones opinion as an unassailable fact as the basis of their own knowledge when they are challenged on their “facts”.

It was a compliment to Nyet and an 🙄 at the bizarre cult of the “me too” crowd who rather than think independently and research their subject, they simply parrot an opinion because it fits their world view. It is how liberals have operated for decades, low information voters now have the ability to be low information posters.

What happens when an irrespirable opinion meets an immovable fact? Splodey heads all over the place.

Showing once again how stupid humans are and how advanced animals are, ducks beat humans at the game of evolution.

Having a BS degree in Zoology (Cum Laude) back in the early 80’s from a major Midwestern University, this makes me so sad. Thirty years ago this would not have gotten anyone’s attention No one would have taken it seriously – at all!

I understand that this subject is supposed to be lighthearted. Feel free to disregard this post.

Does anyone have a position on the “theory of biological evolution”? (Quotes indicates that the question is in lieu of a proper definition.)

I ask as I can’t, exactly, determine from the responses.

When I look at the six figures in the ape-to-man picture, I wonder think of the phrase “hidden agenda”, then I think about the “hidden genitalia”. The first three figures lead with the left leg…lol.
