An old Colt from the 30s. .38/.45 cal. Too much gun to clear leather, and you might snap your wrist. You need a 9mm double stacked, two extra magazines. Now the golden rule is guns and booze don’t mix! Unless you say the magic words: “whiskey for my men, beer for my horses”!

Yes, and the people here seem to have gone insane due to the lack of regular severe weather.

We need new phones. Our contract is up I have one not so wee one who has bravely gone off onto her own plan because she wants “limitless” data 😎. I was going to go today and see what kind of package I can get but it is snowing and generally gross outside so we are un-decorating instead.

We did that Saturday and Sunday. I left the Nativity scenes out until Epiphany, but the rest is put up, and I am glad. If my priest finds out, I may get put on probation. The Catholic Church is now all about celebrating the Octave of Christmas, and the Christmas season through Epiphany, or even the Baptism of Our Lord.
I can still celebrate without the decor. I don’t want it all around in January.

I am Byzantine Catholic although there are no Byzantine churches near me so I attend the Roman Catholic Church. (There is a Melkite Catholic Church about 45 minutes from me but I have not been there).
When I attended the Byzantine Church we did not put our Christmas decorations out until Christmas Eve day. We left them up through the Epiphany. I love the Eastern Rite, the icons, no instruments, standing, the long pryers, the richness of it all. I love the Roman Rite but I am more at home in the Eastern Church.
Anyhow you mentioning your priest made me think of my Byzantine Priest. He told people that if they voted for Bill Clinton that they should not receive communion until they went to confession and made a true confession. He told them that their hands were with every abortionist when they killed babies in the womb.
He was a wonderful priest.

I would have loved that priest! And I agree. A vote for a Democrat is to pick up a scalpel. Unfortunately, so now are most votes for Republicans, as they fulfill the Obama Wish List.
I would love to attend an Eastern Rite service, but I don’t think I would be able to stand still so long. I have never been to anything other than a Latin Rite.

The standing is not so bad and there are chairs an/or pews for people. The Byzantine Church I attended we didn’t stand the entire time but we stood *a lot*.
Once a priest was telling me about attending a Byzantine Mass and they were standing praying a long prayer (probably a full page long) he was relieved to be getting near the end when he saw at the end of the prayer, “repeat 3 times” 😀

Did the twisters get near you?
We’re still trying to keep our heads above water. They keep warning folks of the dams that are about to be opened full blast. The Illinois River in Cherokee county is reaching record levels. We’re downstream from one of the dams that is going to cause trouble, but our lake is spreading the joy and opening our dam as well. I continue thanking my lucky stars that we live on a hill, might get stuck at home again, but at least we won’t get flooded.
Here it keeps switching from rain to freezing rain to sleet to snow and back again. I’d prefer it stick to snow at least it’s pretty.:)

Mornin’ Michelle! Yeah, they did – 2 confirmed real close, and the weather peeps this a.m. said we really dodged a bad bullet. The Red is bad, and rising….. and word is water will be released (3′) in Broken Arrow that’s gonna mess us up down here. Can’t be any worse than it was in late spring, though – just colder…..

Yep, our area still hasn’t fully recovered from that flood and now it’s flooded again. Other counties that didn’t have it as bad as us the last time, get to experience it this time.

It’s now officially worse here than it was in the spring. We ventured out to see how bad and homes that just had water up to porches in spring now have water running into their homes. Houses that had water inside, now you can only see the roofs.
They’re asking a community about 3 miles from me to evacuate.
They’re debating mandatory evacuations for a few towns within 20 miles of me.
They keep releasing water upstream but it still keeps staying at the top of the dam, so they keep upping our dam release, but it’s not enough to keep up, we were watching the water rise. Our county remains under a flood warning through 6 p.m. tomorrow.

So sorry to hear that, michellec. I’ve never experienced flooding, so I have no idea…

I’ve never experienced my home flooded, but I hate trying to go anywhere during floods.
I feel for some of these folks because normally they would be far enough from the lake and river to be affected and yet this time it’s not far enough. Others it’s harder for me to have sympathy for as they know it’s going to happen but they don’t care as long as they live right on the lake. Most of them knew it before they built or bought their homes.

I have had a discussion about this with the GS, who will be 12 in a month or so. Think about it, if you’re 6, it takes one-sixth of your life to get back to Christmas that year. When you’re my age, @*, those twelve months are a much smaller % of your life, so, as we age, we are sucked into an ever-tightening vortex within the time-space continuum which increases in speed each and every day. Just tryin’ to help out here. 😉 😆

His YouTube videos, especially the ones explaining the Crusades and Slavery, are great to share especially with younger people as a way of helping them self-educate. It’s laid out in a very matter of fact way and allows them to absorb the information in a non-threatening way. Having your the foundations of your belief systems challenged is very threatening for most people.

Thanks, Wee. At first I was confused, because my first blog post was in June 2008 as a local issues blog, and I’ve won a few awards since then, not exactly “rookie status” but then I realized that the “Rookie” award is for Partyzanski and his crew of pals, who just started blogging a few weeks ago, and I host them at Stopshouting. So, that was nice for them. They’ve had a lot bottled up, and are now getting a chance to use their voice.

stopshoutingblog.com is the WP platform we are playing around with but hasn’t been set up yet.
stopshouting.blogspot.com is the “home” or “main” blog platform, that we continue to use until we work out the kinks and get a new skin & template up and running over at stopshoutingblog.com. You can comment at stopshouting.blogspot.com, but all comments are moderated, so you have to be sprung. That’s because after the “Rant” went viral in 2010, the Progtards came out of the woodwork and it was ridiculous. (the anti-military venom) and I ended up having to moderate the blog to keep things sane.

The electric company is out trimming trees and taking down dead trees. Huge amount taken from my neighbor’s huge maple, and another big tree removed across the street. Very little on my property.
This is very good, with an ice storm on the way. Some of those branches would have been brought down with the weight of the ice, and possibly power lines too.

Diana West: It’s Time to Rally Around Donald Trump
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/26/its-time-to-rally-around-donald-trump/
But good citizens of what — the world?
For many decades, the unspoken answer to this inconceivable question (inconceivable, that is, before Trump) has been yes. “We Are the World” has been the USA’s unofficial anthem, the political muzak of our times that we either hum along to, or accept in teeth-gritted silence for fear of censure (or cancelled party invitations). “Openness,” “multiculturalism,” “globalism” — all have been pounded into us for so long that I think Americans despaired of ever hearing anyone give voice again to a patriotic vision of American interests. Then Trump came along and changed the tune. Americans perked up their ears. Maybe a wall — which is just the beginning of Trump’s detailed immigration policy, which Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) calls “exactly the plan America needs” — would make America possible again. That would be great, indeed.
Does Trump see it all this way, or is he going on “feel”? I don’t claim to know, although by this time in the political season, I think I am beginning to get a sense of Trump. When it comes to what is important, beginning with immigration, Trump’s instincts are as formidable as his courage. Notwithstanding Cruz and his consistent conservatism (in which Bozell places great stock), immigration wouldn’t even be a campaign issue without Donald Trump. In my opinion, the Trump plan is absoutely essential to any possible return, as Bozell puts it, to America’s constitutional foundations and Judeo-Christian principles. I actually think of it as our last shot.
Good read.

We had a summer house.
When I was 5 years old a group of us kids would walk to town 2 miles away on the railroad tracks (now it is a federal crime to be on the same tracks). We swam to the island without vests, we hooked each other with fishing hooks, we played with lawn darts, roasted marshmallows on an open fire using sticks we found on the ground and did all kinds of things that would give helicopter moms fainting spells.
We all grew up to be healthy productive citizens 😎
