We Are All French Today

Nous Sommes Tous Français. In the wake of the horrific attacks in Paris last night, we say these words, as the French newspaper headlines read on September 12, 2001 – Nous Sommes Tous Américains – following the attacks by Islamic terrorists on the United States.

Once again, radical Islamists have attacked the citizens of a Western country; innocent men and women on the streets of their hometown going about normal activities at the theater, stadium, restaurant, and in the street.

And, once again, the leaders of these Western countries hesitate to say that this is a terrorist attack carried out because radical Islam is intent on conquering the Western world, and replacing our way of life with one that is compatible with Muslim doctrine and law.  Even today, although President Obama spoke of terrorism, the words Islam and Muslim were not part of his address regarding the attacks in Paris, or previous attacks in the United States.  He said “I don’t want to speculate at this point in terms of who was responsible for this”.

As I listened to French television last night, even as eye witnesses reported that gunmen yelled the words, “Allahu Akbar!”, the news anchors hastened to add that there was no indication that Islamic foot soldiers had carried out these attacks.  Even in the throes of terrible fear, pain, and death it is political correctness that governs what is reported, and what is said about it, because Islam is a specially protected religion under the doctrine of the perpetually aggrieved.

Why can we not listen to what Muslims in our own country are saying?  They live in the United States, but many would prefer to live under sharia law rather than U.S. law.  Remember that Islam is not just a religion, but a political philosophy as well.

The West is under assault by the radical soldiers of Islam, carrying out their goal of destroying the way of life of those who are not like them, who are not Muslims.  And what do the leaders of these Western countries do at the very time that threats and attacks are mounted against their citizens?  They decide to import even more young Islamic men under the cover of sheltering “refugees” from Syria.  And yes, most of these refugees are indeed young adult males.

The United States is even now implementing a program to receive thousands of refugees from the Middle East, presumably from Syria, even though it is known that refugees in Europe are actually from many countries – countries all over the Middle East and Africa – entering Western Europe under the guise of protection from war in Syria.

And how will these refugees assimilate in the United States?  Is it likely that they will, as our grandfathers and grandmothers did, be eager to adopt the language and customs of our country?  It doesn’t seem likely.  An incident in Michigan indicates that Muslims in communities endeavor to replace the American way of life and American law with their own.  The City of Hamtramck, Michigan, recently elected a majority Muslim city council, and this happened:

Councilman Goes On Rant (Fox2 Detroit, video at link):

But rather than ease racial tensions, the comments from a Muslim organizer threaten to divide.

It was a historic moment Tuesday, but followed by a controversial comment that may create or widen the rift between the growing Muslim and shrinking Polish community in Hamtramck.

“Today we show the Polish and everybody else,” said Ibrahim Algahim in cell phone video ….The statement was immediately rebuffed by many present at the Muslim candidates’ victory lap.

Saad Almasmari, the top vote getter, was one of them

“I don’t believe in that,” he said. “And as a candidate, as a city council member, I’m going to work for everybody, represent everybody, because I got elected for everybody.”

Ibrahim Algahim said those words.  Why not take him at his word, rather than trying to explain it away?  Apparently, he thought it true and appropriate to say, “Today we show the Polish and everybody else”.  Since Hamtramck has a large, but shrinking, Polish population, I think it’s pretty obvious.  Obvious and ugly.  I don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe what the man said.  After all, politicians get caught saying what they really believe every so often, and this case is no different.

The question remains, why is the U.S. Federal government spending billions to import illegal aliens – either refugees like these from “Syria”, or others from Central America and Mexico, as they have been doing for a couple of years (at least) now.  Why now, when there is 25% unemployment in inner city neighborhoods?

ABC News: US Officials Admit Concern Over Syrian Refugee Effort

Top U.S. counterterrorism officials say they worry a potential terrorist could be hiding among refugees who are looking to come to the United States after escaping the brutal war in Syria.

“It’s clearly a population of concern,” the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Nicholas Rasmussen, told the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday.

Committee Chairman Mike McCaul, R-Texas, went further, saying it would be a “huge mistake” to bring refugees from the conflict to the U.S. – even as an estimated 4 million children, women and men have been forced to flee Syria and another 7 million have been displaced from their homes there, unable to leave.  (February 12, 2015)

We should mourn with the French people, as they bury their dead, and care for their wounded.  At the same time, we need to talk about whether or not we should be allowing thousands more young men from the Middle East to enter our country, to settle in our small cities and towns.

Yes, we do need to talk about allowing these people into our country. However, the talking is one sided. Our elected officials are not listening to what we have to say about immigration.

They are talking at us, not to us, not with us.

I am worried about that as well, W2! That said, we are well armed, with many CCW permits, and will not go down without a fight. Oh, and Cajuns don’t pay much attention to “gun free zones” anymore, especially after Lafayette! Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
