God Bless America!

July 2, 2017 8:54 am

An early recording of Kate Smith performing Irving Berlin’s 1918 patriotic song, God Bless America. I love this version, because it includes the prelude,

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer …
