        1. I’ve never taken a train trip over literally 2 miles. It is definitely one of those bucket list items. Not sure I could afford the companion ticket for my ride, but……

  4. Good morning and happy Saturday everyone.

    Help me with a little project, please. I have a table in my entry I decorate for fall. Above it are two picture ledges. I want to put some classic old book cover pictures there, loosely Halloween themed. I’ll frame them in Dollar store frames.

    Any suggestions, especially for something witchy, as that is the one I haven’t got? Even a good movie poster would work for that. My fave is the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and I’ve got Frankenstein and Dracula, as well as The Picture of Dorian Gray. There must be more!

      1. Ooh, and I bet it’s a good one! I’ll need popcorn. My husband recently re-discovered making models with the youngest grandson. I think he spent several hundred thousand dollars on little bottles of paint that he had to dip the brush in once. But hey, the kid now has Maverick’s F14 Tomcat and they have priceless memories!

        But Hobby Lobby won big on that deal.

      In 1950’s “Treasure Island,” Robert Newton was the first movie pirate to “Talk Like a Pirate,” as we traditionally think of them today. In particular, it was he who added the now-classic “arr” (not “argh”!) to pirate argot. In honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, here is a scene from the 1954 Australian-made sequel to the film, also starring Robert Newton (who starred in the subsequent Aussie TV series of the same name as well as 1952’s “Blackbeard the Pirate”).   8. Back to the Halloween stuff. In the fall each year I love to listen to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I have an Audible membership, and they often have it for free, or there are other free online sources, both for the audio and the story. But man, the audio version is just right creepy for this time of year. Probably great stuff on YouTube as well.

    Also you can find some online bargains for Edgar Allan Poe collections. Ooh, that might be a good one for my pictures. He gets my all time vote for favorite creepy short stories.

  9. I’m waiting for my lib friend’s heads to start exploding any minute now since POTUS has secured his deal with Greenland. Is anyone aware of a single day this term that something of consequence hasn’t happened, been talked about, or put into works this go-round. I get exhausted trying to keep up.
