Good mornin’, and happy Saturday! Trying to get a head start on the weekend! I can tell already that I’m gonna miss the NBA “all-star” game as I’m going to be sorting toothpicks, I believe. Found this art deco sterling silver pot out in the interwebz. A little old-school and class. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!
Weather guessers are saying Carnival will be ok this weekend, just a terrible lightning and thunderstorm overnight, and a little scattered rain on Sunday, during the parades. We’ve had worse.
I almost got the meat sweats from looking at that! Pop had a heart-shaped pizza at his place last night. Just hoping he didn’t start a fight among the widow ladies at the assisted living home.
Well, y’all humor me with my cooking addiction. I just replaced my crock pot I’ve had for years, and never been pleased with. I chose something called a Ninja MC1001 Foodi Possible Cooker Pro. It’s a multi cooker and does a number of things like sear/saute, roast, slow cook, steam, braise, keep warm, proof, and bake. I’m not convinced on the bake, but have seen videos with positive outcomes.
Initial experiments have been positive. I cooked breakfast in it yesterday. I cook a lot of soups and casseroles, especially in winter, and the idea of using one pot, and also not splattering grease all over my stovetop, is the thing that sold me on it. Also, I’m really big on braising meats. We’ll see more.
For anyone who is interested, it’s $110 on Amazon right now. When I first decided I wanted it, it was $169. At 8.5 quarts, it’s bigger than I need or wanted for everyday use, most of the time. However, I frequently have to be really strategic during holidays in using my oven and stovetop to get everything done together, even doing the cook ahead things. This thing will really help, there are so many things I could use it for. It will easily cook a fat hen, or two turkey breast, or very large pork or beef roasts. Some hams, but you’d need to watch the height on that.
The is a 6.5 quart model, with fewer features. Anyone needing to replace a crock pot, or maybe not wanting to have to use your stove and oven would benefit from this. I have had some other Ninja small appliances and still use them, and like them.
First I watched it over and over and laughed uproariously every time. Then I emailed it to all my friends, and called them to open it and laughed with them on the phone. Now I’m laughing all over again.

Also, the pan can be put in the oven at up to 500* to finish off something needing browning.
