      1. Always fun to get out of the usual daily routine, especially when you’re with agreeable company. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful and the family loves it.

    1. Good mornin’, Miss Wee! I’m not sure if we could even afford to do this today. I know that wood prices have come down from FJB highs, but it still ain’t cheap. Better grab some coffee for the time-being.

        1. Morning! I had a trip to Nevada and California with a couple of family members years ago. We were amazed to walk through the grocery across the street from our hotel. A whole aisle of liquor, a whole aisle. Which you could buy any day, any time. Think they were a 24 hour store.

Unheard of here in the Bible Belt, where politicians on the take like to legislate morality. More so back then. Like the rest of the country, our politicians have turned away from fake morality to fake woke.

Only consistent thing about public officials is their fervent dedication to prostitution of themselves.

          1. Can’t do that in Texas, but my peeps in IN can get likker in the grocery store. Not 24 hours though. My two favorites up there are that you can’t buy beer that is cold in a convenience store, nor can you buy soda in a liquor store (I guess they don’t want you making that Jack-n-Coke on the drive home)

            😀 😀 😀

          2. Mornin’ Menage. We can buy liquor here in the grocery store too. And at Costco. But Michigan just changed the law so that I can’t order wine from an out of state winery or store. But I can have anything delivered to my house with my groceries.

          3. I lived in a “dry” county in TN. I went in to a convenience store and picked out some beer for my husband and looked for the wine. Not finding any, I asked the clerk where it was. He said it is a dry county, we don’t sell alcohol. Puzzled, I held up the 6-pak of beer and said “what is this.” He said, it isn’t alcohol, it is a malt beverage. Obviously the town council, or whoever made the decision to appease the Southern Baptists were beer drinkers.

  6. The NPV (National Popular Vote) bandwagon continues to chug along. Maine has now decided this is a good idea. This action doesn’t start until after this Presidential cycle, but………They are now at 209 electoral votes, with only 270 needed.

Maine joins ‘popular vote’ interstate compact, bringing the total to 209—they only need to reach 270 – American Thinker

  7. Good morning everyone. Thunder storms maybe headed our way this afternoon. Hope to get a good walk in before they arrive. It’s great to live minutes away from an awesome recreation area. I can walk along the Tennessee River, or in the woods up the mountainside from the river.

  8. Apparently, it’s getting harder and harder to to find someone from the vaunted halls of Ivy in Cambridge, MA who isn’t a cheater. An MD “doctor” lifted pretty much all of his report in a lawsuit against a major corporation recently. Not only did the Judge admonish him, it caused the entire lawsuit to get thrown out with prejudice. This wasn’t the first time, either.

That’s hard to do these days…….unless you’re on our side.

      2. Ah, yes…Ellis Island…when we had legal immigration and people were checked for illness and mental disability, character flaws plus general acceptability. Nowadays those concerns are considered racist and xenophobic by the Brandonites.

Bananas, crawfish and cheeseballs, all to be consumed while listening to authors reading their Haiku aloud…

Patrick Mahomes Refuses to Call for Gun Control After Kansas City Shooting – ‘I Continue to Educate Myself’

By Richard Moorhead, The Western Journal Apr. 17, 2024 7:00 am

The quarterback considered by many to be the best player in the NFL is steering clear of partisan messaging in the wake of a shooting at a parade celebrating his team’s 2024 Super Bowl victory. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has rebuffed calls to advocate for gun control, according to a Time magazine profile of the two-time NFL MVP published Tuesday.

  11. Good afternoon everyone. It was about 31* when we got up this morning. It was windy and cold and snow covered all the green grass. Happy Spring day to you all. The snow melted in the next hour, but it is still cold and I evidently don’t have enough clothes on to stay warm. My DIL sent me a picture from their house and they must have several inches of snow. I guess we are not I Florida anymore. Oh, by the way, it was 85* when I talked to my friend who is still there.

Hope your Spring Day is nice where you are.
