5:20 am:
King Charles will begin to travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in a procession. The route is 1.3 miles long, directly through central London.
King Charles and Camilla, who at that stage will still be the queen consort, will travel in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach on their way to Westminster Abbey. The Diamond Jubilee State Coach was first used by Queen Elizabeth II at the state opening of Parliament in 2014. It has hydraulic suspension and air conditioning.
6 am:
The coronation ceremony will begin at Westminster Abbey at 11:00 a.m. local time, 6:00 a.m. Eastern.
Traditionally the events take place as follows: the Recognition, the Coronation Oath, the Anointing, the Investiture and the Enthronement and Homage.
After the oath, Charles is expected to be anointed with holy oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury, who will pour the oil onto a spoon and anoint Charles’ hands, head and breast.
Then, Charles will be given the royal robe, the orb, the coronation ring, the sceptre and the rod of his position. St. Edward’s Crown will be placed on his head.
After King Charles is crowned, his Queen Consort, Camilla, will be crowned.
8 am:
The coronation ceremony will end, and the king and queen will then climb into the Gold State Coach, the gilded, horse-drawn carriage that is more than 200 years old, for another procession back to Buckingham Palace. The procession will retrace the same route as the one earlier in the day and last about thirty minutes.
8:45 am:
King Charles and Queen Camilla will receive a royal salute from the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Armed Forces in the Buckingham Palace gardens.
9:15 am:
Members of the royal family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a fly-past of military planes and helicopters belonging to the British army, navy and air force.
More than 60 planes will participate in the fly-past.

For two people in their 70s–I suspect they will be glad on a highly personal level when tomorrow is over.
I wish him well and hope he doesn’t screw up the world too much more with some of his woke climate ideas….I think he has had a thing about architecture, too, but am too distracted at the moment to go and hunt up things about that.

Awake in the middle of the night here — so I have CBS coverage on TV in the living room, and here in the office – the Reuters livestream, which is just the outdoor footage. Looks like a drizzly day in London.
The entrance into the Abbey and the service itself, now underway, surely features a lot of fabric! Goodness, the richness of the robes, etc….the colors, weights, designs, some embedded jewels, etc….
And outdoors—so many horses!! All sort of alike, but different as well: several of those horses seem to bear watching. A couple of them look like this is not their idea of a good time. Those who ride them are obviously top-notch equestrians as individuals. Queen Elizabeth would surely love seeing all these horses today.
I doubt I’ll be watching the entire thing–but I do enjoy seeing the pageantry of it all. I was 9 year sold when Queen Elizabeth was crowned. We didn’t have television–at all–yet. In that part of NE Montana, the microwave towers that would bring the television signal skipping across the prairie to individual houses was still a few years away.
….but we had the National Geographic! When the issue celebrating her coronation arrived, I went over it and through it again and again and again. The 4-color photography was an amazing revelation for a young girl–to start to try to take in that there really were all these other people, all these other countries, thousands of miles away….I loved seeing it and trying to understand.
My dad often reminded us, with an appreciative chuckle, that when he was in London at the close of WW I, as he was serving on a troop transport bringing soldiers home from Europe, that he taken a day in London and “went to the Tower to see the Queen’s jewels.

Tucker woke me at 5 am, so we stayed up and started watching. I have CBS on mute on the tv and Sky News on my laptop. I think the King looks tired, and Camilla looks nervous. The best part are the Princes George and Louis, and their beautiful little sister, Princess Charlotte.

In case you were wondering, the video is exactly the same on both channels, but the commentary on Sky News is better and more subdued.
ADD: And there are no commercials on the Sky News live feed.

I’m not sure where Sky News is – on Reuters, there was no commentary at all (only video footage) and it was only the outdoors footage, nothing inside the abbey.
I had the sound turned way down on CBS, and just had captions on the screen so I could follow that way. I enjoyed the visuals very much and did want to follow the audio, but actually didn’t listen to any of the commentary prior to the service.
The royal children were fun to watch! I agree about Charles and Camilla–tired and nervous. All of that robe-taking-off and putting-on in public had to be exhausting for any number of reasons.

They are shown on live Sky News as still protesting, although they said that there have been some arrests.

Watching the parade back to Buckingham Palace. That old coach is visibly rattling around. I’ll bet it isn’t very comfortable for Charles and Camilla. I wonder if they got a bathroom break at any time during the coronation. If not, they must have their legs crossed by now. It isn’t easy when you are in your 70’s!
