The scarlet passion flower. Some believe it to be the ultimate symbol of the crucifixion. The stigma (female part of the flower) is divided into three units thus resembling the three nails. The five stamens (male part of the flower) are thought to represent the five wounds Jesus received in the hands, feet and side. The corona (the structure at the base just above the petals) represents the crown of thorns. The ten red petals are thought to represent ten of the disciples, omitting Peter (who denied Jesus) and Judas (who betrayed Jesus). And, the leaves and tendrils of the vine represent the hands and whips of the enemy who tormented Jesus.

Holy Week concludes with Holy Saturday, the seventh day of the week, when Jesus rested in the tomb. Matthew 27:

When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:

he went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

Good afternoon, Miz Wee! I wonder if anyone voted against this. So what is the salary spent on? Democrat nights in Caracas clubbing with their fav dictator, Maduro? And “other expenses” being clothing to attend Antifa events, or your typical RINO retreat, perhaps?

I have no problem reimbursing for legit expenses having to do with their jobs…travel tickets, hotel stays, etc. as long as everything is on an expense report submitted monthly with receipts and a reasonable explanation of why the trip was required (or are they already reimbursed for these things?). But, come on, rent and food eaten every day?

If you needed a reason to totally disrespect Congress, well this sure is right up there.

Mornin’ All. Truly overcast gray and 42* this morning. It evidently rained last night enough to get the ground wet everywhere. The grass really needs it.

The man who used to pastor the church before he retired and his wife gave me a ride to the service last night. I am so glad I got to go. It was really a nice service. My DIL and the middle granddaughter didn’t come because she got the stomach virus the other two had had. I am wondering if we are going to have everyone over tomorrow for dinner. Christmas dinner was cancelled for illness, too.m That is the way it goes when you have little ones, I guess.

Well, I am off to fix breakfast. Enjoy your day.

Hi everybody! Just taking a break from closet cleanout. So far I have three 13-gallon bags full of clothing, a big black bag of purses, and another of shoes and belts. More to go!

It’s a nice sunny day, and we are supposed to have a sunny and warm week.

The overcast disappeared and the sun came out really bright. Now it is 53* and some clouds. Actually a really pleasant day.

Good day to you, Stella! I keep a pretty good handle on clothes sorting throughout the year nowadays. It’s all the knick knacks, china, pottery and glass that need to be sorted. Collecting those things over the years was fun but now they are a bit of a burden. So it looks like the animal rescue thrift shop is going to get several more boxes soon.

And cardboard boxes are another thing…I just can’t throw them out. There’s a huge stack of them in the master bedroom. It’s either fill them up or break them down for the weekly trash pickup. “Get ruthless; no fooling around” will have to become my motto.

What do you reckon those two black andts or wasps represent on that beautiful flower? First time to visit this site. It’s quite Stellar, Stella! Thank You.
