Note, specifically Heinz…. Maybe they could make some products to get us started, like Heinz Pork and Beans and Flies.

Since insects are all around us, growing, harvesting and storage offer inroads to our food.
The FDA explains that it’s “economically impractical to grow, harvest, or process raw products that are totally free of non-hazardous, naturally occurring, unavoidable defects.”
So, the FDA has determined s a certain allowable amount of bug parts and other foreign matter in our food. It’s especially notable in spices.
Black pepper and cinnamon are natural candidates, as is turmeric.
So, to increase the bug balance in your food, spice it up! It’s the eco-friendly thing to do.
Want to learn about the maximum levels of allowable defects “foreign matter” in your food?

But, not before dinner.
