Four hours to the eclipse!

Ok, got up at 3:33; took the dogs out and looked at the crescent moon with the unusually dark left side. Went back in, got a cover for my chair (very high humidity) and placed it in a good spot. My brother came out about 4, and we watched. Haven’t watched an entire totality for probably 30 years. Rusty brown rather than actually red in color. Spent a quiet hour and a half sitting out in the 64* night, quiet, zillions of stars, cats wandering around.
My photos are too small to be of use, it I’ll find something from online.

My brother left NYC in 2005 after 30 years. I asked him the other day if he missed it, and he said he did not even want to go back for a visit. He is perfectly content out her in fly-over country, in a county with fewer people per square mile than lived on his block in NYC.

Good day, Czarina! Once I discovered New York as a child I read everything I could about it, collecting photos of the various famous buildings and print media articles about every aspect of the city. When in grammar school I got ahold of “Pride of the Yankees” about Lou Gehrig and became a Yankees fan for a number of years until the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to L.A. Then my baseball loyalty was a two-coast split.
Following all the Broadway musicals, I dreamed of taking my talents to the New York stages. Visited there twice in the mid-60s to check out the scene. But settled for working in the L.A. film industry instead, but was never interested in being in front of the camera.
I still quite often view the various YouTubes on the city. Loving New York is a fond memory. That New York of hope and promise is no longer there.

The Dems have nothing to run on, so it behooves them to eliminate elections! The only other thing is that they (Dems) will register as a Republican to get that side of the vote. Can they run as both R’s and D’s?

Had the eclipse occurred 2 hours earlier, the Moon would’ve been higher in the sky and a much better shot. As it was, the moon was getting close to the horizon and haze was killing the shot!

Mornin’ All. Happy Voting Day. The sun is out, the sky is clear blue all over and it is a toasty 14*. (It has crossed my mind more than once, “What have I gotten myself into.”). I woke up a little chilly about 3:30 in the morning. I still haven’t turned on the heater in the bedroom. And, Loki jumped up into the bed with me, I’m sure because she was cold. I got up and looked at the outside thermometer and it was 4*. I am so grateful for that coat that I bought on sale long before I moved. It seemed a little overkill when I was in Florida, but it certainly isn’t here.

It has been running about $46 a month. I just got a bill and it was $47 and that includes the heat running. But, now that the temps have dropped so much, I, too, am curious.

$46 is pretty reasonable. I’ll be interested to know what it is during heating season. My electric bill is already bigger than yours, and I heat, cook and dry my clothes with natural gas (electric furnace blower though).

The electric company here is a co-op. I had to pay $30 to join the co-op, but the bills have been very reasonable and there are plans I could go on to make the payments even, etc.

Mmmm…a good beginning if they are sincere. Are these Auzzies going to demand an apology from their repressive government? My feeling is if the owners of this business plan to follow politicians who think “Brave New World” is a blueprint, then no, the apology is not accepted because they are not repentant.
We also know that doctors, nurses, scientists and researchers were trying to get the word out for a very long time but were repressed, harassed, threatened, taken off social media, etc., some losing jobs. How about an apology to them by name along with a monetary settlement from Big Pharma and from the various governments including the U.S.?
