Good Mornin’ Lucille, Reflection, and all! Agreed on the shots, as always! Sometimes I leave my camera out and close by, hoping to get some good shots myself. But alas, my knowledge about such things, would leave a lot of room in a mustard seed. On a more realistic note, we are in the low 70’s going into the high 70’s later in the day. A great day to start anew with a New Moon!

How are you doing, Pa? You’re having nice cool weather. We’ll hit 98 today.

I grew up in San Bernardino County, CA, and it could get mighty hot there. But after working and living in air conditioned buildings all my adult life, my preference now is the same.

First thing I noticed was the DEL Coronado Hotel, Some Like It hot, The Stunt Man, and so many other great movies have scenes shot there. It even shows up in My Blue Heaven. One thing I will always remember was it’s cost…..600K to build…400K to furnish, in 1888.

Good Morning to all and thanks for the memories.

My wife and I were staying at this fabulous hotel and went over for a drink on a rooftop bar to watch the sunset. We heard a very large commotion out front and went to see. Coming down the street was a runner carrying the Olympic torch, with Georgia State police cars in front and in back. Quite stirring.

Between the two, is it OK to be on the side of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman?

I saw a photo of him recently in a Western suit and without the Saudi red checkered headdress. He was nearly unrecognizable. He’s wise to wear traditional garb.

Good point. Why is it that we have done business over there for 75 years and now because one “journalist” who wasn’t really a journalist came to a terrible ending, we now can’t be on terms with them. If more people knew what we have done………and most of it, I agree with, all of this pearl-clutching would cease. Do I think these golfers are looking for easy money? I sure do, and I don’t know how history will look upon them. I don’t think they will be thought of as those rebels who joined the American Football League way back when.

Good Morning Stella…..it is a beautiful day here with temperatures expected in the 90’s for the next few days.

Water restrictions were put in place this weekend, but restrictions have become a normal occurrence and if the city water supply fails, I have access to a nearby reservoir that I can haul from in order to keep my small garden going.

Most of my tomato plants were badly battered during a wind storm a while back and they’re not setting on as well as I had hoped but my trashcan potato tower is looking really healthy and my experiment with cantaloupe seems to be working as small melons are beginning to set on. Now all I have to do is pray that there is enough of a growing season remaining that they’ll have time to ripen.

So yes, I’m definitely smiling. :0)

Do you have coyotes in the neighborhood? Czar and I had to put up fencing or they ate our melons!

Hey czarina…We get coyotes in the winter, but very rarely do they wander through in the summer. My problem was the feral cats…they were digging up the seedlings and using the soil as a cat box. I hammered in some bamboo poles and then wove a net to provide a lattice fence around and about 12″ above the plants.

It ended up looking like a lattice coffin, but it’s working really well and the melons can rest ontop of the lattice as they grow, keeping them out of the dirt. Thus far, the cats have been the only pests that I’ve had to deal with. :0)

Mornin’ All. The sun is shining, the air is pleasantly cool, and it is a beautiful day.

I went over tot my kids’ place to have dinner with them. We live in a big valley, a plain I guess, but they live up near the mountains. What was funny was that Loki whimpered a little as we left the apt. but quickly quit, and then, when we finally turned to drive toward the mountains and trees, she started whimpering and carrying on. I am sure she knew where we were going. She was so excited when we got there. My three granddaughters are little perpetual motion machines. They played in the hose and on their swings and had a ball.

I sat in complete shade and got sunburned a little. I have decided that the sun’s rays do bend and that I attract them like a magnet. I will have to start wearing long sleeves. My son assures me that this “hot spell” will be over soon. The nights are still cool, although last night was probably the warmest I have seen here, in the low 70’s.

The plan today is to unpack more boxes. I figure you could have guessed. Hope your day is pleasant.

Seeing as how Jimmy Carter was (and may still be?) a professor at Emory, this woke business isn’t a surprise. The question now is, will the alumni object to this step away from Christian doctrine? ….

World Net Daily WND – July 28, 2022

A Christian college, the Methodist Emory University in Atlanta, has announced a plan that gives students a choice as to the pronouns by which they are identified in school records.
