Good morning! If you are interested in WWII, this is an interesting look at American war production.

Stella, thanks for this fascinating series. I stopped at 1:00 AM because I was starting to nod off, but will finish it sometime on Thursday.
Interestingly enough, a few weeks ago I viewed the following video (which has nothing directly to do with the war)….”Rare 1940’s Kodachrome San Francisco, Pacific Northwest”
…but it did show a flood which occurred on Memorial Day 1948 at “Vanport” which was a city built for Henry Kaiser’s shipyard workers on the Columbia River which divides Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. 15 people were killed and a huge number of families lost their housing.
Well, one thing leads to another and from that I started reading more about Henry Kaiser.
One shipbuilding entity in Southern California wasn’t mentioned in the episode…California Shipbuilding Corporation…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Shipbuilding_Corporation
…where my father worked as a welder. Dad was always very meticulous when building anything and he became a valued employee for CalShip, working on Liberty and Victory ships. The company promoted him to a crew boss whose team was trusted with inspecting the welds that other workers did and if inadequately done, re-welding entire sections. I remember one time his voicing his disgust at the large amount of work time which was lost due to inefficient welders and causing delays in getting the ships to sea to do their bit for winning the war.

When you get further into the video(s) I posted, they cover Kaiser’s part in the war effort. It takes up one entire section. He played a huge part.

Yes, I watched that part. I got through 1:50:10 then shut it off near the beginning of the section on the Manhattan Project.
The only thing I wish the producers of the series had done was to spend some money on film restoration. If it hadn’t been for the voice overs, it would be quite difficult to understand what was being shown in some segments, the film was that deteriorated. I understand why they didn’t do it because even in 2019 it was expensive. Digitizing is very big now, however, and even many YouTubers are restoring old film for next to nothing.

If you have never read it, a good book on the subject is Freedom’s Forge: How American Business Produced Victory in World War II by Arthur Herman.

Who needs woke Disney or Universal? Being a Republican, Walt Disney would be appalled at what Disney has become. The heads of Universal? Not so much.
Theme Park Half the Price of Disney, Universal Opens in America’s Heartland
“The Lost Island Theme Park, part of the Lost Island Waterpark brand, has opened up this month on 80 acres in Des Moines, Iowa, and offers more than just a fun swimming experience with rollercoasters, play parks for little ones, food, and other attractions.”

Mornin’ All. Sunny, hot, humid, and still here. Loki doing better, but doesn’t like the probiotics I put on her food. She refuses to eat it until she gets really hungry in the evening. Back to work. I am scared to death my son won’t even get here. Have a nice day.

Mornin’ mom! I was giving Tucker probiotics, but in a capsule that I popped down his throat.

Since Miss Loki’s regular food apparently tastes good to her, she seems to be getting past the crummy taste of the meds. Do you have any treats she absolutely loves? If so, you might stick a couple on top of the mound and see if that helps.
I’m praying that all goes smooth with your son’s arrival in a timely manner. Is he renting the moving truck when he arrives at your apartment? If so, and it looks like there’s going to be a delay for him, can you arrange with a friend or neighbor to take you to the rental place and at least get the truck back to your apartment? It might be that you could hire a worker to start the process of packing the truck so that your landlord or manager at least sees that you’re trying to leave on time.

I have some little doggie chicken meatballs that she just loves. So that is what I have been doing. She goes over and eats all those pieces and looks at the rest of the food and walks off. She is eating it later, but not as much of it as she should.

Kari Lake says that when she’s governor of Arizona she won’t enforce any of those federal gun laws. They can come and arrest a sitting governor.

Kari Lake really seems like a great gal. She took a page from DJT’s book and is simply going for it.

So good to see that James Woods is still posting his conservative thoughts. Voting out these GOP RINORATS won’t be easy.
Hopefully John Cornyn will get thrown out on his ear. Too bad we have to wait until the 2026 elections. Did you see where he indicated he was just joking re illegal immigration compromises? What an ignorant sap. He doesn’t seem to understand that when you give lefties an inch they will take that proverbial mile. Donald J. dissed him on his gun capitulation, thank God; but we need dozens more to take these please-love-me types to task.

John Cornyn’s been a duplicitous ass his entire career. Worthless.

He was useless when he was AG, and has continued to fall upward spectacularly ever since. Useless POS.

Amazing how much the elephant looks like McConnell and the donk looks like Schumer.
Morning Wee and everybody. Another gorgeous day here. But we sure could use some rain. We’re having afternoon temps in 70s!! Wow, that’s HOT for us!
