Here in the Eastern part of U S A we rarely ever get to see that deep blue sky as in the Rockies. But then again, Pa has the highest elevation as of something akin to 2700 ft. So for a perspective, our highest elevation is lower than Colorado’s lowest elevation. My time in the Rockies almost always had a deep blue sky! Driving a lot at night, I saw what appeared to be “First Light” and it was way too early for that (2-3 AM). That was in June of the early 60’s. Later I attributed that to being on the outskirts of the Northern Lights. Some day I’ll witness that phenom in person. Good Morning to all Stellars!

You are so right about the skies! I love the Rockies, particularly southwest Colorado, where this photo was taken.

Northern lights are on my bucket list, too. Having spent several years in Utah, Wyoming & Colorado I was always impressed by the deep color of the skies, especially since I came from the Florida coast where the skies are washed out pastel blue.

We have that gorgeous deep blue sky here in Alaska as well. But not due to elevation, I’m looking at an arm of the Pacific Ocean from my living room, about 150 ft above sea level. There are mountains on the other side of the arm that are over 10,000 ft tall, so maybe it’s the proximity to them that gives us the color. Or the northern latitude, I’m at 61* N lat. Who knows, I just enjoy.

What we don’t have here that many of y’all do, especially in the midwest, is when the sun drops below the horizon and the underside of the cloud cover turns blazing red all over the sky. That takes my breath away, and we rarely see that here.

Hey Lucille! I just read your sweet reply (from 10 days ago!) to my excited discovery of your return to us here at Stella’s ( https://stellasplace1.com/2022/06/07/general-discussion-tuesday-june-7-2022/#comment-392204 ). Sorry to be so long in responding! My little bell in the upper right corner alerting me to likes and replies no longer functions and I don’t know why or how to fix it. And I have to log in every time I like or reply to someone else. What a pain!

And thank you for your caring comment about my father’s passing last fall. I miss him, and am so glad I got to go to Washington State to see him before he died, when he was still alert and walking and in good spirits. He went down quickly after that and passed 12 days later. I think he was waiting to see me one last time. He and I were all that is left of my immediate family, and now it is just me. Fortunately I have two close cousins who were the daughters of his sister. One of them has been like a sister to me since my own sister passed a decade ago. Family is so precious.

Anyway, just so glad to have you back. And sorry to hear you are dealing with health issues. I’ve just joined the “Cool to be 70!” club and gotta agree with my granny years ago who said old age is no place for sissies. It certainly has it’s own set of challenges. But what are we gonna do except soldier on, right? Blessings and prayers for you, dear lady.

Thank you, Tundra, for your kind words. Means a lot to this 80 year old!

The vagaries of WordPress! I have yet to figure out what I’m doing wrong when trying to sign up for “like” or why I need to sign in when I post; so I just let it slide. Someday I’ll sit down and devote several daylight hours to it all.

        God bless!

          Problem staying logged in?
I was unable to stay logged until by accident I discovered something that works – at least for me.

At the top of the is Stella’s Place, underneath that is a picture of some flowers and just below that are 3 links. Home, About Stella’s Place and What’s it all about? Speaking up!
If you click the What’s it all about? Speaking up! link and scroll to the bottom of the page you should see this:

No doubt in my mind that the globalist greenies are causing a lot of the fires at food manufacturing plants, and this particular destruction of beef cattle….

I didn’t want to include the photo which went with the story. Too horrible. So this is a photo of beautiful live black cattle….

“BREAKING: 10,000+ Cattle Suddenly Dead In Kansas, Ranchers: ‘It’s Not Heat’.”

“You will eat bugs, and you will be happy! No, that’s not a joke, it’s just the sustainable mantra of the World Economic Forum. Who doesn’t want to buy a bag of edible insects at their local grocery store?”

Mornin’ Everyone. Miserably hot and humid. Normal Florida summer day. Loki seems much better. I guess the antibiotic is working already. I cancelled all my appointments that I had set up for dentist, doctor, and eyes for later on. Right now I am still trying to cool off from our walk. A trip to the bank is next and then back to packing. Hope you all have a nice day.

Morning, aus! Glad the antibiotic is working for your darling Loki.

Speaking of doctor visits, if you have Medicare supplemental insurance, you might determine whether it is transferrable to your new location if you haven’t already. When I first moved to Idaho I had to cancel the insurance used in Washington and get new because the old wasn’t at the time available in Idaho.

An ad popped up on my screen from Design Within Reach for the Nora Lounge Chair and Ottoman. Since I’ve been searching for a chair with matching ottoman, I liked what I saw and thought it might be a bargain…

Wow, at $4,495 send them in every color and material, please…LOL!

Had a memory pop up on the FB a bit ago. 41 years ago today, I loaded up my ’75 Monte Carlo……that’s the one with the looooooong front end, and left IN and headed for fame and fortune in the bright lights of TEXAS!! Still here 41 years later. It’s quite amazing how quickly that time has flashed by. As with all of us, some sorrow and heartache, but a heckuva lot of good as well. I’m nearly as obnoxious as one who was born in Texas, and I wear that with pride! By gawd! 😉
