You said it; we’re chuckling at the expense of another useful dummy exploited and discarded by these evildoers.
Good morning, Tex…enjoy your coffee and respite in the Hills!!

Mornin’, all. Our Favorite Sunday Columnist has some thoughts on the “other trial” going on out there. Her thoughts on the roadblocks in Mr. Durham’s way. Coffee’s on its way.

Mornin’ All. It is overcast this morning, but very bright, 81* and humid. The poor weather guessers had a time yesterday. When I checked in the morning, it was supposed to be stormy starting about 2:00. But, around 2:00 I checked because I wondered if I should take Loki for her walk early because it would be storming from then on. But the weather guessers had changed the forecast and said it probably wouldn’t rain. We took our walk early anyway. And, about 6:30 the storm came in and it thundered and poured rain off and on until after we went to bed. Poor weather guessers.
Well, still packing, but don’t haven’t found a place to live yet. I’m beginning to think this move isn’t going to happen between the shortage of gas and this whole monkey disease uproar that is coming. Anyway, enjoy the day.

Mornin’ all ya’all! Sunny till at least noon. Gotta mow the grass before it starts, cause I’ll be out of town Wednesday through next Monday, and the grass is growing like mad!!! Might lose a cat in it!

New reason to be careful: alligator! Yesterday my brother saw one in the lake in our back yard. First time in 18 years! It will be dining on the beavers and nutria (hooray!) but also the ducks and cormorants (booo!) Of course, concern is about the dogs and cats who range around where ever they like, and the occasional people who fish. Alligators can run 30 mph for short distances, and, as we have seen posted, sometimes come up on the porch!!!

They can also climb fences and walls. 😯

We are from Florida, Miami to be exact, and we’re well schooled about them as children. I am wavering between having it live here for a while to eat the beaver and nutria, and having my brother take it out with one of Czar’s rifles. Just amazed one did not wander here sooner.
Of course, it is a source of meat for dinner…

Yeah, I’m a little mixed about it with ya….I prefer everything living out their normal lives but it applies to MY beasts, too.

Happy Sunday, all! Everyone is familiar with the Tour de France, but did you know there is also a women’s professional cycling tour series? These little fillies are serious racers and will be riding their own TDF this year as well. Here’s Stage 3 of a 4-day race currently in Burgos:
Also, the Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy) concludes week 2 of 3 today, with the final week being this coming Tuesday thru Sunday. Today they are riding (no…’racing’) nearly 177 kilometers (110 miles) in the alps, with 3,917 meters (12,800 feet) of climbing. These athletes are among the best of any in the world.

Good afternoon everybody! Just got back from the college graduation in Richmond, IN. Everything was lovely. We took most of our meals in the college dining hall. The college is small, but very old (175 years) and founded by the Quakers. The campus is lovely and green, with many beautiful trees. They also have a divinity school and an equestrian program; you can take your horse with you during the school year!
We attended both the baccalaureate and commencement on Saturday. As we were leaving the commencement, it was announced that we should not leave the building because there was a tornado warning! We hung around until the warning was called off and the rain slowed down a bit.
We ended our day with a delicious Indian dinner, then fell into bed in exhaustion.

A trip to a beautiful place and a ceremony: a nice diversion from everyday events. Glad there was no problem with the bad weather.

Yes it was a nice trip, and I am also happy that the weather didn’t cause any damage in our area. I hear that they had a tornado in Gaylord, MI, and at least one person was killed.
After lunch yesterday the weather was really nice, and we all vegged out on the central park area that they call the “heart”. Beautiful lawns and big trees with Adirondack chairs to relax in.

Sounds wonderful, Stella. You must be so pleased! Does your grandson have career plans? Also, do you pick up the Tuckster today or tomorrow?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, I don’t think he has career plans yet. His degree major is Japanese Language. I asked him if he would like to work in Japan teaching ESL, maybe. He said “NO”. He has been to Japan as an exchange student and was supposed to student teach there – then Covid, and the plans were scrapped.
I just got Tucker from the kennel. I was told that he is a “sweetie”, and that he adjusted well to all of the people and other dogs. She said he ate well (no surprise there!), and behaved himself. He is “tuckered out” now. In fact, he was quiet most of the way home in the car, which is unusual for him.

Am I the only one here who is buying up extra bags of dog and cat food? With the fertilizer shortage and rise in cost (Louisiana Ag Commissioner detailed the future problems) I decided I would put aside several bags of each in case of a shortage or steep rise in price. Of course, we can always shoot a hog, deer (or alligator) and cook it to make pet food.

I’m not, although I have a regular shipping schedule for both cat and dog food through Chewy.

Good idea, though. Maybe I’ll pick up some at Costco.

No, you’re not – we’ve had hell, as has my child. MY problem is that my cats are older and set in their ways, which is exactly ONE brand of dry – the Purina Naturals. When we’re down to 2 big bags DH goes on the hunt for another one. The child hunts for both dog and cat food – all the time, lately.

Mine won’t eat meat or table food – one won’t eat anything but pellets. Period.

I’m lucky there. I just switched Luna’s dry food brand, and she likes cooked chicken really well. She even stole a bbq rib from a tray on the kitchen counter! I think she is better about food than she was as a kitten. Tucker will eat anything, but he’s a dog (right?)
