Apparently (according to the Washington Post) the situation is no longer an emergency.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday revoked the use of emergency powers that he invoked to quell weeks-long blockades in the Canadian capitalthat spread to several U.S.-Canada border crossings and inspired copycats abroad.
“Today, after careful consideration, we’re ready to confirm that the situation is no longer an emergency,” he said at a news conference in Ottawa. “Therefore, the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act. We are confident that existing laws and bylaws are now sufficient to keep people safe.”
I wonder if the real reason is that Trudeau has been forced to face the fact that his government seriously overreached, damaging business and finance in his country.
We already learned that the banks assets that were seized are now returned to their rightful owners. Trudeau and his WEF puppet master, Chrystia Freeland, were so gleeful to be able to punish their political opponents that they overlooked the damage they were doing to the Canadian financial system. Someone or someones in powerful positions must have reminded them, don’t you think?

The discussions held by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Premiers leading up to the imposition of The Emergencies Act will not be made public, but the results are obvious: All Premiers except one, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, told Trudeau not to do it.
I’m sure that they all urged the Prime Minister to take the glaringly obvious, commonsense step of engaging in dialogue with the truckers. I would guess that the Premiers told Ford to do the same as well. Ford did not budge. He chose to save his own political skin over doing the right thing for the country. Ditto for Trudeau.
It seems extremely doubtful that Trudeau could have taken the drastic step of imposing the Emergencies Act if Ford had stood with the other commonsense Premiers and told Trudeau firmly that imposing such draconian action was foolhardy and threatened the social fabric of the country.
[. . .] So now we venture into a new authoritarian version of what used to be a wonderful country, where Canadians cherished their freedoms. Already, people who donated money to help the truckers are finding that they are being harassed and treated like criminals for holding “unacceptable views.”
Heard that Hong Kong had also shifted out large sums of money. Oh Chrystia….big lips sink ships!

The Ripple Effect. Park a few trucks in front of the Canadian government’s center, and blow the horn a few times. Soon the effects will be felt around the world. This thing is far from over. 2022 is shaping up to be a milestone in the history of civilized society.

There are several people in Canada saying the reason Trudeau reversed course is because the Senate was going to reject the Bill. I seriously doubt it.
I was watching Viva Frei last night (h/t Stella for the link) and he was doing commentary on the comments of the Senators as they spoke. The Senate is a lot more Trudeau backing than the House of Commons, and from what I heard it was following party lines just like the House – meaning the Bill would have passed.
My feeling is that it’s the seizing of bank accounts that was the MAJOR misstep.
Many Canadians lost trust in the banks and starting closing their accounts – not to mention outside investors thinking of putting money into Canada suddenly deciding against it.
As the saying goes – Money talks, BS walks, and a LOT of support just walked away from Trudeau.

There is also talk that some emails were found that showed that Trudeau and his cohorts decided to invoke the emergencies act for political advantage of some kind, and that these emails have been exposed to members of the Senate. That is why (supposedly) why there was reason for the Senate to reject the Bill. I think the seizing of bank accounts also caused instability in the financial markets, and that big investors were taking their money out of the banks.

This sheds a bit more light on the situation. From next door. Little Mussolini put a kink in the plans for Canadia’s digital ID program being backed by their friends at the WEF.
