On this day in 1893, a professor stands atop Pikes Peak. She is struck by the beauty around her and is inspired to write a poem. Her poem is later set to music. Today, we all know that song as “America the Beautiful.”

The song nearly became America’s national anthem! And it all started because a professor accepted a summer teaching position in Colorado.

(read the rest of the story at TaraRoss.com – link above) The story concludes:

The poem was paired with many different tunes over the years until, finally, one particular melody by Samuel Ward stuck.

Interestingly, Bates and Ward never met each other. And neither of them really made any money on the song.  Instead, the result of their accidental partnership has simply been a great gift to the country.

Started out gorgeous on the back porch, blue jays, cardinals, a crow cawing off a-ways to the east. Quiet, light breeze. If it had had the noise of waves breaking it could be in your list.

Good day to you, czarina! The chirping of birds is always welcome…even a whole “murder” of crows can be fun, especially when it sounds like they are arguing…though their complaining can get out of hand.

One time I was out in the yard at my place in Vancouver and a huge group of crows had taken up residence in the trees. They were making a very loud racket and I was expecting worse. I yelled at them to cut it out and almost the whole group flew off en masse squawking. LOL!

Good morning, aus! Via most of our experiences we know it’s extremely seldom that a carpet cleaner will move furniture. Even the offer of paying extra is usually turned down.

My regular maid/house cleaner wouldn’t move anything. She complained of a bad back; so along with cleaning windows, it was out.

Furniture moving is a business which could easily be a start-up in the housekeeping field. I’d be happy to pay that extra fee just to get all the cat hair out of every nook and cranny.

Hoping for a cooperative cleaner for you!

I put gliders and casters under my heavy furniture. I can easily move them myself for vacuuming or carpet cleaning. Can’t move them out of the room, though.

I used some of those plastic and foam gliders. He did push the two chairs for me. They needed to be cleaned under and around. Then I put the plastic and foam gliders under the legs and put them back in place after about an hour. My problem really was that I had no place to go while I waited for it to dry. It was too hot to sit in the swing on the patio in the sun, so I perched in my lounger inside with the air conditioner going full blast at 75* (much lower than normal) and watched Jaws. I didn’t want Loki walking on the wet carpet that had the cleaner in it, so I had to keep her on my lap. That wasn’t easy. She probably would have stayed on the couch, but I had too much piled up on it.

Indeed, sending the illegal aliens into conservative or Republican states is being done on purpose just like the CCP created the Wuhan on purpose to kill non-Chinese communists around the world. The deaths of their own people in China was a typical communist collateral damage exercise. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that simply isn’t paying attention. They and our present ruling class are brazen in their contempt for America and Americans.

If these illegal folk are going to be allowed to stay and I’m pretty sure they will be even if Bide-Harr is thrown out in 2024, then our side must simply figure out how to cause the aliens to be not only productive for our economy but to be good conservatives, too. Perhaps we’ll need a “missionary” force to go into their communities and gain converts. We can’t allow them to be what the lefties are creating…never-do-wells who live off the rest of us.

Good luck with that. They are bringing in males between the ages of 18 and 30. There are some people who think that they were chosen especially to cause trouble in a civil war scenario. These are being brought in on military planes. Remember all the problems they have had in Europe from these large amounts of males being allowed in?

Twenty Years Ago, A Mass Migration Plot Was Hatched To Help The Left Change The West Forever. They Even Admitted It.
          JULY 22, 2021 – by RAHEEM J. KASSAM

Proof of the left’s mass migration political effort was made public 12 years ago, in a stunningly similar series of incidents to what is currently taking place on the U.S. southern border.

While Kamala Harris scratches her head in Guatemala, farcically discussing the “root causes” of mass migration, the truth of the matter can be found in a little known, draft government paper from the United Kingdom dating back to 2001.

The IOC should never have changed their rules. I thought they were going to penalize anyone involved in political protests, but that’s not so anymore….

Tokyo Olympic Social Media Teams Barred From Posting Photos Of Protesting Athletes: Report
    By Emily Zanotti – July 21, 2021 – DailyWire.com

“Peaceful protest is now allowed on the field of play, provided it is done without disruption and with respect for fellow competitors. However, sanctions are still threatened for any protests made on the medal podium….”

The IOC is dumb enough to think you can give these people an inch and they won’t take that proverbial mile. Excuse me, but “the mile” is the goal…total capitulation.

One of the YouTube creators that I follow just explained that one of his videos was demonetized because it was “graphic” and “shocking”? What did it show? A calf being born. And that was only a few seconds of a 15 or 20 minute video.

Do I believe that YouTube really believes that? (It was reviewed by a human) NO I DON’T. I think it’s a excuse to save having to pay ad revenue.
