    Stellars….

New Caladonia (located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, it’s a French overseas country)…

Dublin on the Irish Sea (part of the North Atlantic)…

Sunset on Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, New Zealand…

    Have a beautiful day!

New Caledonia (which is misspelled in the above post) is a country I don’t recall having heard of before. I know that Scotland was once called Caledonia, but how France got into the picture, I don’t know.

Population is less than 300,000 for all the islands. A straightforward question of “how many islands comprise New Caledonia” provided a convoluted answer about archipelagos (4), provinces, and a bunch of other terms…none giving a proper answer of how many islands there are. Suffice to say, there are a lot…LOL!

Anyway, here are a several photos of a very pretty place…

They seem to like tall, spiky trees. Wonder if they are Italian Cypress, or something local.

This is what I remember about New Caledonia (1950’s television!):

        http://www.182ndinfantry.org/defending-new-caledonia-1942/

On 12 March 1942, 48 days after leaving New York, Task Force 6814 at last arrived at its terminal stop: Noumea, New Caledonia (see Google Map here). This French territory was a critical stop on the supply route to Australia, and also boasted precious raw minerals, a harbor, and an airfield. The Japanese had their eyes on it, and the existing French and Australian defenses on the island were minimal. . .

Thanks, Stella! It’s quite a fascinating place. I guess someone from the Stella family is just going to have to visit and give us a report. Aus is game. Should we do a GoFundMe and send her off with appropriate cameras and drones? Not to mention a handsome lad to carry everything around for her.

I sent the article/website to a friend. He emailed me back to say his father had been there during WW2 and he’d heard about the islands since he was a young boy. I had no idea, of course, that he had any personal interest but only sent it because he likes military stories and studies.

So thanks again for the link. You helped make it a good day for my pal, a decorated Vietnam vet.

Walked really late this morning. Loki let me sleep in. Don’t know what is happening to her. I still need to fix breakfast for myself. The news is dismal. Illegals being let in on a grand scale, given an I phone, which I con’t even have, on OUR dime and then flown all over the country. And, these are mostly men between 18 and 30. Along with that, there are certain to be shortages of everything, including food because Biden’s people along with others, are making it happen. And, there is no doubt about that. The truckers are saying they are being told to let their loads sit and rot. This is all so ominousl. On that note, I guess I had better go eat something.

Wow, maybe you should stock up on food for Loki and a few extra cans of stuff you like. I still have Czar’s back-up hurricane season food (supplemented with chili and Chef Boy-ar-dee) since I only eat those when eveything else is gone.

I have a few weeks of that “store forever” food and small cans of things that would keep me going. I don’t think I would last 6 months, though. Actually, I don’t think I would want to last 6 months. I really believe things are going to get bad. I know some people have been saying things like this for years, but it is here now. Somebody posted pictures of lumber lying on each side of railroad tracks. This was good, new lumber. I tried to go back and find the video, but have not been able to. Meanwhile, they are saying there is a shortage of lumber. So, that isn’t true. They are just withholding it. There is just so much conniving and lying going on.

There’s already a shortage of cat food…at least the kind that Bee and Gee like.
