Happy Fence Friday….
Bernina Express, The Alps…
Fisherman’s Park, Bastrop, Texas…
The Summer Garden, St. Petersburg, Russia…
Singing Tower, Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales, FL…
The Singing Tower has carillon bells and sits among a 250 acre garden/bird sanctuary.

The singing tower enchanted me. Here is a video from 2019. Looks like a place you’d really love to see in the spring.
The bells reminded me of my bowls. Here’s a video of singing bowls. I actually have two of them, and their little cushions and strikers. They survived the great moving purge. I love them, and my grandchildren do too.
And, not related to bells at all, but another favorite thing of mine, kind of a personal indulgence like the bells, is this little deal. It’s my favorite thing I’ve bought in forever.

Thanks for the videos, Menagerie. Love the carillon sound. It would, indeed, be wonderful to visit the garden right now.
The singing bowls have such a lovely sound, too. What is it about bells? They seem to touch the human soul. I got curious as to which culture invented bells and found this short article…Antiques Bells – Who Invented Bell?

Love the little fireplace. There are numerous videos on YT on how to create your own tabletop fireplace. A person could start his own business or make them as holiday gifts.

OK, I’m certified as obsessed…I’ve kept track and have viewed this vid 52 times since the 1st when it was posted…my boys are back from hiatus and presenting their tribute to Bon Jovi. If you view Bon Jovi’s original official video of this song, you’ll see they had a light show featured. 2CELLOS has an elaborate modern version of same. Their fab drummer is Dusan Kranjc from Croatia as is Stjepan Hauser; Luka Sulic is from Slovenia (incidentally, in Croatian names the “j” is silent).

Now I have that song in my brain, instead of the other one that has been there since yesterday, now completely forgotten…..

LOL! My head is full all day of this song plus various snippets from 2CELLOS’ concerts and Luka’s solo arrangement of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.”

Morning all, going to be another fine late spring day here, before storms come back tomorrow. I’m trying to find the energy to take the kids to the park, before it gets late afternoon hot and muggy.
I wonder where geese nest. We have a pair who have stayed on the pond, and yesterday I noticed they now stay on or near one spot. Might just have been a one day thing, but they did not move as I walked toward them. I stopped about 15 feet away. Last thing I need is to be chewed up by a mad goose.
And, yay! I walked across the field again. Stability and balance is better now. We take for granted all the ways our ankle moves in that socket, without us telling it to, until it doesn’t and can’t. My ankle has metal plates and screws going into the lower leg, so I have less balance now. Plus, a hard brace that only allows forward and backward flexing, not side to side.
Among other things, I use a balance board, and I think it is such a good exercise for us as we age that I bought one. They don’t cost a lot, and given the increased risk of falls as we age, I think it is a good thing to work on, several minutes a couple times a day. It’s good for your core muscles and kind of fun too.

Mornin’ All. Another sunny day here. Still cool at this time of day, though, in the low 6o’s. I believe it got up in the mid 80’s by yesterday afternoon. It will probably do the same again today. My son’s birthday is next month, so I asked him what he would like for his birthday present. He pointed me to his book list on Amazon. I am glowing with pride. I raised a son who reads all the time, who married a woman who reads all the time, and they are raising children who read all the time. And, they praise God for everything they have. Have a nice day before the storms hit.

Mornin’ mom. My daughter, SIL and kids are all readers too. Must be because we raised our kids that way, eh!

GGS asked me to buy him some graphic novels (we used to call them comic books), and I did so immediately. He wants the paper versions, not the Kindle kind (takes after us old school elders). I don’t care what he reads. My sister read comic books exclusively when she was in elementary school, and got a doctorate of education when she grew up, specializing in teaching writing!

LOL. I thought a graphic novel was a dirty novel.

Good day to you, aus! How wonderful to have such a family. Passing love of reading on to the next generation adds so much pleasure to one’s own reading.
W is still in my prayers for his health and safe return and that of all those with him.

I am so pleased. But, I have to admit that I was a little surprised at his choice of books. It was a fairly long list, mostly history and military, but there were quite a few religious books. Not the simple ones that I would read, like a daily prayer, these were heavy duty. I am impressed.

That’s great! I love people who never stop growing. Knowledge doesn’t have to be for any particular purpose. It can just be knowledge for knowledge’s sake.

Morning, Menage. It’s a sunny and warm day here today. We had rain over night, which is the way it should be.

Good news all around, Menagerie! So glad the walking is improving.
Do you know what kind of geese they are? Black head and neck with a white “chin strap” (Canada goose); similar markings but shorter neck (Cackling goose); all white with black wingtips (Snow goose). The Canada goose has become a very common non-migrator in urban areas, including eastern Tennessee, nesting on dry ground close to ponds and lakes. The behavior surely sounds like they are nesting. The nest is built and incubated by the female and will have a clutch of 4-7 white eggs. The male stands close guard for protection. Incubation is 25-28 days; the parents lead the young hatchlings forth to the water after 2 days. They are believed to mate for life.

Several years ago a pair had goslings on our lake then took up residence across the street at a pond. I happened to be driving when the parents moved the babies across the street. The mom led the babies and dad brought up the rear. He was VERY offended that I was even nearby, and kept turning around, spreading his wings and acting vicious until they all got under the fence and into the pond.

Menagerie, if you wouldn’t mind, a question. From where, and/or what kind of balance board did you purchase?
My last couple three falls have been particularly destructive, even causing the marbles in my head to roll around and settle in new places, nearly destroying my balance and equilibrium (thankfully those steel plate implants never shifted).
Have seen every therapist and doctor known to man in several flavors, but so far falling again remains a terror. But no one has said balance board, except here you saying it.
Doggone, it’s worth a try, for me anyways.
Many Thanks.

Jeans, my balance was bad before the fall. I had a foot injury years ago that left me limping, off balance, and terribly afraid of another fall, which caused me to not push myself as my foot healed, as far as regaining my balance. And so I got worse.
Because my injury was an ankle, I had to work a lot on balance, and the board is one thing I did. The link is for the board I have, and you want to balance side to side and front to back, so you turn the board after one direction. I try for three minutes each direction, and be sure you are near a counter or heavy furniture.
Just as effective as this are other exercises I do. If you are interested I can email descriptions to you if you send me your email address at the tree email. I had to do them before I got on the board, and I still do them. My balance is better now than before the fall, far better than it has been in twenty years or so.

I did not buy from that company, so I am not sure if they are reputable or not. I got mine from Amazon, before I quit buying from them.

Thank you so much. That one you see on tv is around 300-some dollars, which is ridiculous. I can afford the Toledo board.
I quit Amazon well over a decade ago, so if I must DIL can order it for me.
Will send email tomorrow for exercises. My email is so messed up. The one I use for login has been locked a while back (as has my FakeBook – ‘magine that).
I will use my old email, after I make certain it still works. The username is the same, the email is different. Will put your name in subject.
Will figure out has to fix my logons here and next door another day.
Thank you!

Good afternoon, WeeWeed! Since I can’t see what you posted, I’ll just say…have a nice day!
My not being able to view videos from or on Twitter started quite some time ago. Now I can’t even see the post at all except what you and others have typewritten in. If I go to Twitter I can see everything fine except for vids. Perhaps Word Press has changed something so that my programming is no longer compatible or it might have something to do with how I’ve configured my settings. Unfortunately I have no clue on how to correct it.
LIFE!

Sometimes I can’t see the pics on tweets that are pasted into WordPress. I don’t know if it has to do with WordPress or with the current version of Firefox. Right now I can see everything. I’m sure it’s a compatibility issue but I don’t know specifically what.

Beautiful spring day today in southcentral Alaska. We still have an all-white landscape with no grass or flowers yet, but the snow is down to about a 2′ depth on the yard, and the inch or so that fell Wednesday night has about melted off to where we can see some of the roof shingles again. We know it’s spring because some days (though not today, alas) the temperature is almost above freezing! And the sun is rising at 7 am and setting at 9:15 pm. I love the long daylight of late spring and summer. Thanks to all for the spring flower videos you are posting. So glad to know it is truly spring in some places! Czarina, when your magnolia trees are blossoming, bottle me some of that sweet, sweet smell wouldja? It is what I miss the most about Mississippi!

April 9, 2021 – TFIglobal
In response to China’s ambassador’s warning that it would “respond in kind” if Canberra joins sanctions against officials accused of human rights abuses, Australian Trade Minister Dan Tehan said the government would defend the country’s sovereignty and national interest.

Stella, I have been meaning to tell you about what I finally ended up doing when I have to leave Loki. I had ordered the pad you suggested and was using it in the crate. However, it had to be washed every time and started coming apart. So, I put down a bath rug and wadded up a towel for her. This seems to work best because they can be washed every time. I don’t know if she pees when I leave or when she hears me come back in. But, she pees every time.
