Date palms are majestic, tall trees that grow abundantly in the Holy Land. Their long and large leaves spread out from the top of a single trunk that can grow to more than 50 feet in height. In Bible times, the finest specimens grew at Jericho (which was known as the city of palm trees), Engedi, and along the banks of the Jordan.
In ancient times, palm branches symbolized goodness, well-being, grandeur, steadfastness, and victory. They were often depicted on coins and important buildings. King Solomon had palm branches carved into the walls and doors of the temple.
John 12:12-15
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.
Near Jerusalem…
Have a blessed day!

See the First Photographs Ever Taken of Jerusalem
Since 1844, millions of photographs have probably been taken of Jerusalem. But these blurry snaps are the very first.

I once trained in a store under an older Jewish man who had lived in Jerusalem and served in some adjunct force that sounded a lot like our National Guard. He knew the city well, and told me such stories about the ancient places there. I used to get him to talk about it any chance I could.

Have you ever visited there, Menagerie? It’s one foreign land that would be worth the trouble, I think.

One of my friends, now 96 years old, moved his American family to Israel where they lived for about 20 years before returning to the states. A priceless experience for all of them.
A fascinating man, he was in Army Intelligence at the end of the European Theatre of World War II and was part of an interrogation unit which investigated Nazis who had run several of the concentration camps. Although he was pretty seasoned by 1945, there wasn’t any psychological preparation for what they encountered in the camps. He also interviewed some of the prisoners. Their stories were what haunted him.

My Dad went into one of those camps with his unit at the end of the War, they were tasked with cleaning it up. 30,000 Dead scattered over 30 acres. To prevent disease they had to burn the stacked bodies. The former prisoners had been moved to another location to begin their recovery.
That was not the worst of the camps.
Grammerly has the most horrible face because of the content of my post, it is entirely appropriate, it would not allow me to copy it.

My friend also found a sculpted head and got into a conflict with a museum in NYC. They thought they had one, but theirs is a forgery and they had it labeled as King David. Actually, the head is King Herod. I believe it came from Chartres Cathedral. A lot of similar items were removed from the Churches in France during the Reign of Terror. Removed for safe keeping. Some was removed as part of the anti-Christian agenda. Estimated Value: $35 million dollars.

Twice now, my comment posted itself.
He was looking for buyers, but I guess he didn’t find any. He did find several museums willing to accept it as a donation. He knows he won’t get $40 million, but he wants a respectable offer. He said he likes for he will keep it for a while. He has created a little shrine. I will post a picture when I get one.
The King Herod head was obtained for about a thousand dollars. I hit 2d hand stores and estate sales hoping for a Find like that.

A guy I communicate with in different groups found an ‘exact’ replica of the 2d Temple. There are two in the world and the other is in a museum in Chicago. He said that an elderly Rabbi came into his shop one day and got tears in his eyes. I believe the ‘exact’ has something to do with the door of the Temple offset from the City Gate. The estimated value is $5 million dollars. He picked up at a garage sale or 2d hand store for a few hundred dollars.

Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Jerusalem
When the Moslems conquered Jerusalem, the Moslem commander was talking to the Priest in charge of the Church and the priest suggested they pray together. The Moslem commander said he could not do that or his followers would say it was a holy place and take possession of it. The the Commander prayed on the porch and the priest went into the Church to Pray,
That is the reason the Porch is considered Islamic holy ground, At least the Commander had some common decency.
The Byzantine leaders sent the Ranking Priest of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to negotiate negotiate the surrender of Jerusalem.

We took the Notorious B.A.D.Conner to Mass last night and it was not good. Before the past year he had gotten so he would usually sit through Mass, but not now. The only good thing was his delight at being given a palm leaf when we came into church. When we were about to leave he whispered “Do I have to give my leaf back to that man?”

This rare orchid named ‘Flower of the Holy Spirit’ only blooms once a year. Before blooming it looks like people praying , and once it blooms it turns into a Dove in Flight.

I love lilies! We have some ‘Crystal Blanca’ on the north side of the house. Our granite-riddled soil and harsh climate are about as unfriendly as it gets, but those lilies come up every summer with fragrant blooms in August. Their stalks are almost as tough as bamboo, and the flowers withstand even the frequent thunderstorms with hail and 40+ mph winds. Virtually no maintenance: just cut down after they die off and let them rest under 3-6 feet of snow all winter in freezing to sub-zero temps. A few other plants are also surprisingly hardy: asperagus, rhubarb, strawberries and iris, to name a few. Gladiolas must be dug up and replanted each year.

Hi, aus! We’re under a wind advisory and I can hear it blowing outside. Better not have another incident like we did the last time the wind was crazy. I was without Internet for a week.
I love this photo. No caption, though, except an indication it’s in southern California, perhaps Riverside or Palm Springs areas.

Boucheron knew how to do extravagant! I have a stunning, gem-studded Boucheron pendant watch that I’d like to know the value of. Would like to sell it but have no idea how to even determine its value let alone sell it. We are quite remote.

Tap the information into your search engine–registration # and whatever info you have–and the latest sales should pop up. There are also books on Boucheron’s pieces if you don’t have any info readily available personally.

Good afternoon, WeeWeed! Some fun information on this piece from Sothebys…
https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2018/magnificent-jewels-and-noble-jewels-ge1805/lot.550.html
Gem set and diamond necklace, ‘Plume de Paon’, Boucheron
Designed as a peacock feather set throughout with circular-cut gemstones, including tsavorites, spessartite garnets, sapphires, rubies, and brilliant-cut diamonds, one terminal set with a pear-shaped diamond, the other with a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 40.88 carats, signed Boucheron, numbered, French assay mark for gold and maker’s mark.
Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 0505133, and SSEF report no. 102171, each stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating.
On the Boucheron jewelry house history….
At the Exposition Universelle of 1867, Frédéric Boucheron had the names of his craftsmen engraved on a marble plaque at the entrance to his stand. This wasTHE FIRST TIME that a jeweler paid tribute to his talented artisans.

Afternoon Lucy! I’m curious as to what it’s sales price was.

The site says it was sold as part of a lot. So the overall lot price may have been huge but an individual piece’s price would be a guesstimate.

Good news, but I feel for all those people who were targeted and are probably now bankrupt. And for us, because, no mistake about it, this is a persecution of us, conservatives, Republicans, and above all else, Trump supporters.
It won’t get better. It might have to change, thanks to these judges, but it will not simply go away. People are going to have to put on their britches, get their butts of the couch, and go deal, with it.

The glee with which the prosecutors (and before them, the FBI thug home invaders) go about their work is disgusting. They are not looking for justice, but for gaining resume enhancers from their socialist superiors now in office thanks to the Bide-Harr puppetmasters.

While we were at the beach, I read an article about an older couple who own a farm who have been in jail. The three grown kids are trying to keep things together, but they were begging for help because bills are piling up and they can’t pay them. I understand their farm is near here somewhere, but I am not sure where. I sure hope they are getting out now. This is a travesty.
