As an aside, I have pretty much stopped reading the comments on Gateway. I am astounded at the ignorance and laziness of the majority of people commenting there. I guess 3/4 of them could be trolls. Every once in a while a couple of Grok/NH regulars go over to try and straighten them out, but they are ignored.
It really highlights the quality of all of the comments here. Thanks!

Trolls are out in force and they are moving into conservative groups to prevent any discussion of content that does not meet their approval.
I quit a non-political group last night, It dealt with ancient history & pre-history and there was a barrage of anti-Trump comments.

Morning all. We are on a run of sunny, warm, beautiful weather. I think our high was 76 yesterday. All the trees are in bloom, and the flowering trees went BOOM! one day and that was it. Flowers everywhere.

Same here. Fruit trees have flowers all over the yard. Tiny leaves emerging on everything. Wisteria flowers are starting to form. Mostly cloudy and a little more humid. The back yard under the pines is covered with pine cones!

I have been given several. All dead now. The last one was a really beautiful Gardenia bush. It started looking peaky as soon as I got it, and it went steadily downhill from there.

Well, darn. I had written a whole long comment and then hit the wrong button and…………….gone. I had all these really interesting things to tell you all, like that I got up and walked Loki this morning. And, that we stopped by Micky’D’s for an egg and cheese biscuit. And, that they have the best coffee. Then I went to Walmart to pick up a few groceries………mostly spelled “wine” and got gas. Now I have to finish packing and getting ready for the trip to the beach. We are leaving Sat. morning and I can’t be late because the kennel where I am taking Loki closes at noon.
Well, anyway, I will check back in later. Hope your day looks a nice as mine. It is really pleasant out there today.

Unless it’s a really short comment, I usually write it in a word document then copy and paste it in exactly for that reason – learned the hard way! 😉

Do you have laptop or are you using a phone to comment? I have a laptop and Microsoft has a blank word document like a blank piece of paper you write on then post or you can save it to your computer.

1) no but you can buy Pages from the mac App Store for $10. This is a better solution than Word for most users.
2) If your version of Word is recent (2008 or 2010) it won’t slow down the MBA any more than is typical for Office. If you are running the older Office 2004 products you will see performance loss because of the Rosetta interpreter.

Has anyone been following the Microsoft hacks through faulty software…bad guys are having a field day. One of our computers is Windows10, and ‘sluggish’ updates is an understatement. I’m not convinced it’s not an oversight by Gates — wouldn’t put it past him to collaborate with the Chinese to breach and allow control of our sensitive information (including infrastructure). I wasn’t aware that it had hit the news recently, I do remember something from a while ago, that the ChiComs were putting backdoors into computers shipped to the US, this included government, businesses, and personal computers.

Well, we survived the bitter cold weather, one morning our thermometer showed 20 below, the coldest I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. We lost some baby goats, not sure if they got too cold or got stomped on with all the goats staying in the barn. We did all we knew how to do, had straw down and heat lamps in baby stalls and fixed them where the big goats couldn’t get in, but the babies could get out and nurse on Moms.
A normal year and I would have been more upset than I was. Now I’m just grateful for what we do have.
Not really much to update on my husband’s health, he goes back on the 16th for his next Lupron shot, the 22nd for lab and the 26th for oncologist appointment. His gallbladder seems to be better, not causing him any pain since we’ve changed our diet. He talked to the general surgeon’s nurse yesterday and told her he really didn’t want to have it removed if it wasn’t causing him any issues, so they said they would just monitor his lab work. We haven’t found a nephrologist because all that we call want referrals and he refuses to use the ones he saw in the hospital. I don’t blame him they pretty much acted like he was just going to die anyway and told him to eat lettuce and drink water.
Going to have to see if oncologist will refer him to the one he wants to try that is supposed to be the best in this part of the state.
The labs always make me nervous, not knowing what they’re going to say.
Racing has started back up and we went to Texas last weekend, all of the races this year will be 2 day shows on Friday and Saturday, so he will get to go to the races this year.

I can tell you that the recent procedures for removing the gall bladder are pretty easy. My daughter had hers done via laparoscopy. If his pain gets too bad, I would recommend it.

He hasn’t had any pain since we started eating lean meat and veggies. He was all for having it done, now that he’s went weeks with no pain, he says he doesn’t want to do it and not be able to work for at least two weeks, but if he starts hurting again he will do it.
He’s feeling so well on this new diet that he’s even quit complaining about no salt shaker and small portions of meat. Of course I’ve had to learn how to season differently and now use all kinds of herbs.

I had a spell with my gall bladder. They wanted to take it out and when I refused, they said to come back when it got bad again. What had happened was they took some x-rays or whatever they did and saw I had gallstones when they were looking for something else because I had a problem. I did eventually start having pain, but googled the meds they had me on and it was the meds that caused the gall bladder to flair and be painful. That was about 15 years ago, I believe. No problem since.

I had one spell a number of years ago. Nothing since. My mother had traditional surgery to remove hers; she had a complete blockage of the bile duct, and they removed several large stones that looked like ripe olives to me! She said the pain was much worse than child birth.
My daughter’s case was very small sand-like stones. She had terrible pain with it, and suffered for months while maintaining a strict low-fat to fat-free diet. She finally had the laparoscopic surgery as soon as it was available. That was a long time ago now.

My sister had hers removed back in the early 80’s, but either she has a less pain tolerance than he has or her’s was worse because she thought she was having a heart attack.

They found his when they did an ultrasound in the hospital, they kind of mentioned it in passing that he had gallstones and asked if he had any problems and that they don’t do anything unless it’s causing you pain. Then he had 3 or 4 nights of pain and the oncologist said it was his gallbladder and he was all for getting it out then. Now that he’s went weeks with no pain, he doesn’t want to do it if he doesn’t have to. With all of his other stuff going on, I understand why he doesn’t want to.

I would go back and google the meds he was on in the hospital. It may be like my situation and the meds caused it to flair up.

He is on the cancer meds, plus supplements. Outside antibiotics, he’s still pretty much on everything they were giving him in the hospital except some of the bladder meds they were giving him due to the catheter pain and the melatonin they were giving him.
The good thing is the bloodwork monitors all that so it can catch it if it gets worse and he has no pain.

I had a spell with my gall bladder several years ago. I ruptured my appendix in 2002 and I only mention that because I think the poison from the burst appendix got to my gall bladder, the doctors had told me it was all over my liver. I had not symptoms for my appendix, except my vitals were crashing and I had fainted. They cut me open from my ziphoid process to some place below my beltline. One cut for whatever they found. Aside from the surgeon, there was a heart doctor, an internal medicine doctor and someone else. I was lucky to be alive, My surgeon has a better survival rate than the national average. He lacked a bedside manner and it irritated me, but I realized I did not go there looking for a friend.

A few later, I had an unbelievable pain opposite my heart. He was called again, this time he knew why he was cutting me open. He looked inside to check on laparoscopic surgery. It was not possible because of the mess from the scar tissue. So, it was the traditional cut for me. He said it was one of the worst he had seen, solid gangrene and leaking.
Congressman Murtha had his gall bladder problems at the same time. I walked out of the hospital, Murtha didn’t.
Twice he saved my life.

We often substitute garlic for salt.
Frontier co-op has large (1 lb) bags of herbs and spices much less expensive than buying by the little or even mid-sized jars in the food store. They are an excellent quality as well.

I use garlic and smoked paprika has became my favorite spice. I also found a brand of spices for steak and chicken that I use, it has sodium in it, but a lot less than using regular salt. I’ve also switched from table and kosher salt to himalayan salt for when I do use any salt.

Dried herbs are great too. I used tarragon or marjoram for chicken, thyme and bay leaf for a pot roast (and I use red wine in the cooking liquid). I also often coat the top of my pot roast with horseradish after is is browned, and let it cook in.

I use thyme a lot as well and even tumeric now because it’s a good herb for cancer, especially prostate cancer.

I do not think they care what foreign leaders see or don’t see. Neither Biden nor his minions have America’s best interests at heart. I would say they do not want Trump supporters to notice, until they are sure we cannot do anything about it. I doubt their are any legal options.
Essentially, the Democrats nominated a child-groping village idiot with dementia for the presidency with the intent an to place someone in the 0val 0ffice who is not Constitutionally eligible. Then she can turn the lights out on America. I would say rapid-onset dementia.
